1 And Nadab5070 and Abihu30, the sons1121 of Aaron175, took3947 either376 of them his censer4289, and put5414 fire784 therein2004, and put7760 incense7004 thereon, and offered7126 strange2114 fire784 before6440 the LORD3068, which he commanded6680 them not. 2 And there went out3318 fire784 from the LORD3068, and devoured398 them, and they died4191 before6440 the LORD3068.

3 Then Moses4872 said559 unto Aaron175, This is it that the LORD3068 spake1696, saying559, I will be sanctified6942 in them that come nigh7138 me, and before6440 all the people5971 I will be glorified3513. And Aaron175 held his peace1826. 4 And Moses4872 called7121 Mishael4332 and Elzaphan469, the sons1121 of Uzziel5816 the uncle1730 of Aaron175, and said559 unto them, Come near7126, carry5375 your brethren251 from before6440 the sanctuary6944 out2351 of the camp4264. 5 So they went near7126, and carried5375 them in their coats3801 out2351 of the camp4264; as Moses4872 had said1696. 6 And Moses4872 said559 unto Aaron175, and unto Eleazar499 and unto Ithamar385, his sons1121, Uncover6544 not your heads7218, neither rend6533 your clothes899; lest ye die4191, and lest wrath7107 come upon all the people5712: but let your brethren251, the whole house1004 of Israel3478, bewail1058 the burning8316 which the LORD3068 hath kindled8313. 7 And ye shall not go out3318 from the door6607 of the tabernacle168 of the congregation4150, lest ye die4191: for the anointing4888 oil8081 of the LORD3068 is upon you. And they did6213 according to the word1697 of Moses4872.

8 And the LORD3068 spake1696 unto Aaron175, saying559, 9 Do not drink8354 wine3196 nor strong drink7941, thou, nor thy sons1121 with thee, when ye go935 into the tabernacle168 of the congregation4150, lest ye die4191: it shall be a statute2708 for ever5769 throughout your generations1755: 10 And that ye may put difference914 between holy6944 and unholy2455, and between unclean2931 and clean2889; 11 And that ye may teach3384 the children1121 of Israel3478 all the statutes2706 which the LORD3068 hath spoken1696 unto them by the hand3027 of Moses4872.

12 And Moses4872 spake1696 unto Aaron175, and unto Eleazar499 and unto Ithamar385, his sons1121 that were left3498, Take3947 the meat offering4503 that remaineth3498 of the offerings801 of the LORD3068 made by fire801, and eat398 it without leaven4682 beside681 the altar4196: for it is most6944 holy6944: 13 And ye shall eat398 it in the holy6918 place4725, because it is thy due2706, and thy sons'1121 due2706, of the sacrifices801 of the LORD3068 made by fire801: for so I am commanded6680. 14 And the wave8573 breast2373 and heave8641 shoulder7785 shall ye eat398 in a clean2889 place4725; thou, and thy sons1121, and thy daughters1323 with thee: for they be thy due2706, and thy sons'1121 due2706, which are given5414 out of the sacrifices2077 of peace offerings8002 of the children1121 of Israel3478. 15 The heave8641 shoulder7785 and the wave8573 breast2373 shall they bring935 with the offerings made by fire801 of the fat2459, to wave5130 it for a wave offering8573 before6440 the LORD3068; and it shall be thine, and thy sons'1121 with thee, by a statute2706 for ever5769; as the LORD3068 hath commanded6680. 16 And Moses4872 diligently1875 sought1875 the goat8163 of the sin offering2403, and, behold, it was burnt8313: and he was angry7107 with Eleazar499 and Ithamar385, the sons1121 of Aaron175 which were left3498 alive, saying559, 17 Wherefore have ye not eaten398 the sin offering2403 in the holy6944 place4725, seeing it is most6944 holy6944, and God hath given5414 it you to bear5375 the iniquity5771 of the congregation5712, to make atonement3722 for them before6440 the LORD3068? 18 Behold2005, the blood1818 of it was not brought935 in within6441 the holy6944 place: ye should indeed398 have eaten398 it in the holy6944 place, as I commanded6680. 19 And Aaron175 said1696 unto Moses4872, Behold, this day3117 have they offered7126 their sin offering2403 and their burnt offering5930 before6440 the LORD3068; and such things have befallen7122 me: and if I had eaten398 the sin offering2403 to day3117, should it have been accepted3190 in the sight5869 of the LORD3068? 20 And when Moses4872 heard8085 that, he was content3190 5869.
