7 And the coast1366 of Manasseh4519 was from Asher836 to Michmethah4366, that lieth before6440 Shechem7927; and the border1366 went along1980 on the right hand3225 unto the inhabitants3427 of Entappuah5887. 8 Now Manasseh4519 had the land776 of Tappuah8599: but Tappuah8599 on the border1366 of Manasseh4519 belonged to the children1121 of Ephraim669; 9 And the coast1366 descended3381 unto the river5158 Kanah7071, southward5045 of the river5158: these cities5892 of Ephraim669 are among8432 the cities5892 of Manasseh4519: the coast1366 of Manasseh4519 also was on the north side6828 of the river5158, and the outgoings8444 of it were at the sea3220:¹ 10 Southward5045 it was Ephraim's669, and northward6828 it was Manasseh's4519, and the sea3220 is his border1366; and they met together6293 in Asher836 on the north6828, and in Issachar3485 on the east4217. 11 And Manasseh4519 had in Issachar3485 and in Asher836 Bethshean1052 and her towns1323, and Ibleam2991 and her towns1323, and the inhabitants3427 of Dor1756 and her towns1323, and the inhabitants3427 of Endor5874 and her towns1323, and the inhabitants3427 of Taanach8590 and her towns1323, and the inhabitants3427 of Megiddo4023 and her towns1323, even three7969 countries5316. 12 Yet the children1121 of Manasseh4519 could3201 not drive out3423 the inhabitants of those cities5892; but the Canaanites3669 would2974 dwell3427 in that land776. 13 Yet it came to pass, when the children1121 of Israel3478 were waxen strong2388, that they put5414 the Canaanites3669 to tribute4522; but did not utterly3423 drive them out3423.

14 And the children1121 of Joseph3130 spake1696 unto Joshua3091, saying559, Why hast thou given5414 me but one259 lot1486 and one259 portion2256 to inherit5159, seeing I am a great7227 people5971, forasmuch as5704 the LORD3068 hath blessed1288 me hitherto3541? 15 And Joshua3091 answered559 them, If thou be a great7227 people5971, then get thee up5927 to the wood3293 country, and cut down1254 for thyself there in the land776 of the Perizzites6522 and of the giants7497, if mount2022 Ephraim669 be too narrow213 for thee.² 16 And the children1121 of Joseph3130 said559, The hill2022 is not enough4672 for us: and all the Canaanites3669 that dwell3427 in the land776 of the valley6010 have chariots7393 of iron1270, both they who are of Bethshean1052 and her towns1323, and they who are of the valley6010 of Jezreel3157. 17 And Joshua3091 spake559 unto the house1004 of Joseph3130, even to Ephraim669 and to Manasseh4519, saying559, Thou art a great7227 people5971, and hast great1419 power3581: thou shalt not have one259 lot1486 only: 18 But the mountain2022 shall be thine; for it is a wood3293, and thou shalt cut it down1254: and the outgoings8444 of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out3423 the Canaanites3669, though they have iron1270 chariots7393, and though they be strong2389.
