1 In the ninth8671 year8141 of Zedekiah6667 king4428 of Judah3063, in the tenth6224 month2320, came935 Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894 and all his army2428 against Jerusalem3389, and they besieged6696 it. 2 And in the eleventh6249 6240 year8141 of Zedekiah6667, in the fourth7243 month2320, the ninth8672 day of the month2320, the city5892 was broken up1234. 3 And all the princes8269 of the king4428 of Babylon894 came in935, and sat3427 in the middle8432 gate8179, even Nergalsharezer5371, Samgarnebo5562, Sarsechim8310, Rabsaris7249, Nergalsharezer5371, Rabmag7248, with all the residue7611 of the princes8269 of the king4428 of Babylon894. 4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah6667 the king4428 of Judah3063 saw7200 them, and all the men582 of war4421, then they fled1272, and went forth3318 out of the city5892 by night3915, by the way1870 of the king's4428 garden1588, by the gate8179 betwixt the two walls2346: and he went out3318 the way1870 of the plain6160. 5 But the Chaldeans'3778 army2428 pursued7291 after310 them, and overtook5381 Zedekiah6667 in the plains6160 of Jericho3405: and when they had taken3947 him, they brought him up5927 to Nebuchadnezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894 to Riblah7247 in the land776 of Hamath2574, where he gave1696 judgment4941 upon him.¹ 6 Then the king4428 of Babylon894 slew7819 the sons1121 of Zedekiah6667 in Riblah7247 before his eyes5869: also the king4428 of Babylon894 slew7819 all the nobles2715 of Judah3063. 7 Moreover he put out5786 Zedekiah's6667 eyes5869, and bound631 him with chains5178, to carry935 him to Babylon894.² 8 And the Chaldeans3778 burned8313 the king's4428 house1004, and the houses1004 of the people5971, with fire784, and brake down5422 the walls2346 of Jerusalem3389. 9 Then Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 carried away captive1540 into Babylon894 the remnant3499 of the people5971 that remained7604 in the city5892, and those that fell away5307, that fell5307 to him, with the rest3499 of the people5971 that remained7604.³ 10 But Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 left7604 of the poor1800 of the people5971, which had nothing3972, in the land776 of Judah3063, and gave5414 them vineyards3754 and fields3010 at the same time3117.⁴

11 Now Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894 gave charge6680 concerning Jeremiah3414 to3027 Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876, saying559,⁵ 12 Take3947 him, and look well5869 7760 to him, and do6213 him no harm3972 7451; but do6213 unto him even as he shall say1696 unto thee.⁶ 13 So Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 sent7971, and Nebushasban5021, Rabsaris7249, and Nergalsharezer5371, Rabmag7248, and all the king4428 of Babylon's894 princes7227; 14 Even they sent7971, and took3947 Jeremiah3414 out of the court2691 of the prison4307, and committed5414 him unto Gedaliah1436 the son1121 of Ahikam296 the son1121 of Shaphan8227, that he should carry3318 him home1004: so he dwelt3427 among8432 the people5971. 15 Now the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto Jeremiah3414, while he was shut up6113 in the court2691 of the prison4307, saying559, 16 Go1980 and speak559 to Ebedmelech5663 the Ethiopian3569, saying559, Thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635, the God430 of Israel3478; Behold, I will bring935 my words1697 upon this city5892 for evil7451, and not for good2896; and they shall be accomplished in that day3117 before6440 thee. 17 But I will deliver5337 thee in that day3117, saith5002 the LORD3068: and thou shalt not be given5414 into the hand3027 of the men582 of whom6440 thou art afraid3016. 18 For I will surely4422 deliver4422 thee, and thou shalt not fall5307 by the sword2719, but thy life5315 shall be for a prey7998 unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust982 in me, saith5002 the LORD3068.
