1 Moreover the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto Jeremiah3414 the second8145 time, while he was yet shut up6113 in the court2691 of the prison4307, saying559, 2 Thus saith559 the LORD3068 the maker6213 thereof, the LORD3068 that formed3335 it, to establish3559 it; the LORD3068 is his name8034;¹ 3 Call7121 unto me, and I will answer6030 thee, and shew5046 thee great1419 and mighty things1219, which thou knowest3045 not.² 4 For thus saith559 the LORD3068, the God430 of Israel3478, concerning the houses1004 of this city5892, and concerning the houses1004 of the kings4428 of Judah3063, which are thrown down5422 by the mounts5550, and by the sword2719; 5 They come935 to fight3898 with the Chaldeans3778, but it is to fill4390 them with the dead bodies6297 of men120, whom I have slain5221 in mine anger639 and in my fury2534, and for all whose wickedness7451 I have hid5641 my face6440 from this city5892. 6 Behold, I will bring5927 it health724 and cure4832, and I will cure7495 them, and will reveal1540 unto them the abundance6283 of peace7965 and truth571. 7 And I will cause the captivity7622 of Judah3063 and the captivity7622 of Israel3478 to return7725, and will build1129 them, as at the first7223. 8 And I will cleanse2891 them from all their iniquity5771, whereby they have sinned2398 against me; and I will pardon5545 all their iniquities5771, whereby they have sinned2398, and whereby they have transgressed6586 against me. 9 And it shall be to me a name8034 of joy8342, a praise8416 and an honour8597 before all the nations1471 of the earth776, which shall hear8085 all the good2896 that I do6213 unto them: and they shall fear6342 and tremble7264 for all the goodness2896 and for all the prosperity7965 that I procure6213 unto it.

10 Thus saith559 the LORD3068; Again there shall be heard8085 in this place4725, which ye say559 shall be desolate2720 without man120 and without beast929, even in the cities5892 of Judah3063, and in the streets2351 of Jerusalem3389, that are desolate8074, without man120, and without inhabitant3427, and without beast929, 11 The voice6963 of joy8342, and the voice6963 of gladness8057, the voice6963 of the bridegroom2860, and the voice6963 of the bride3618, the voice6963 of them that shall say559, Praise3034 the LORD3068 of hosts6635: for the LORD3068 is good2896; for his mercy2617 endureth for ever5769: and of them that shall bring935 the sacrifice of praise8426 into the house1004 of the LORD3068. For I will cause to return7725 the captivity7622 of the land776, as at the first7223, saith559 the LORD3068. 12 Thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635; Again in this place4725, which is desolate2720 without man120 and without beast929, and in all the cities5892 thereof, shall be an habitation5116 of shepherds7462 causing their flocks6629 to lie down7257. 13 In the cities5892 of the mountains2022, in the cities5892 of the vale8219, and in the cities5892 of the south5045, and in the land776 of Benjamin1144, and in the places about5439 Jerusalem3389, and in the cities5892 of Judah3063, shall the flocks6629 pass again5674 under the hands3027 of him that telleth4487 them, saith559 the LORD3068. 14 Behold, the days3117 come935, saith5002 the LORD3068, that I will perform6965 that good2896 thing1697 which I have promised1696 unto the house1004 of Israel3478 and to the house1004 of Judah3063. 15 In those days3117, and at that time6256, will I cause the Branch6780 of righteousness6666 to grow up6779 unto David1732; and he shall execute6213 judgment4941 and righteousness6666 in the land776. 16 In those days3117 shall Judah3063 be saved3467, and Jerusalem3389 shall dwell7931 safely983: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called7121, The LORD our righteousness3072.³

17 For thus saith559 the LORD3068; David1732 shall never3808 want3772 a man376 to sit3427 upon the throne3678 of the house1004 of Israel3478;⁴ 18 Neither shall the priests3548 the Levites3881 want3772 a man376 before6440 me to offer5927 burnt offerings5930, and to kindle6999 meat offerings4503, and to do6213 sacrifice2077 continually3117. 19 And the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto Jeremiah3414, saying559, 20 Thus saith559 the LORD3068; If ye can break6565 my covenant1285 of the day3117, and my covenant1285 of the night3915, and that there should not be day3119 and night3915 in their season6256; 21 Then may also my covenant1285 be broken6565 with David1732 my servant5650, that he should not have a son1121 to reign4427 upon his throne3678; and with the Levites3881 the priests3548, my ministers8334. 22 As the host6635 of heaven8064 cannot be numbered5608, neither the sand2344 of the sea3220 measured4058: so will I multiply7235 the seed2233 of David1732 my servant5650, and the Levites3881 that minister8334 unto me. 23 Moreover the word1697 of the LORD3068 came to Jeremiah3414, saying559, 24 Considerest7200 thou not what this people5971 have spoken1696, saying559, The two8147 families4940 which the LORD3068 hath chosen977, he hath even cast them off3988? thus they have despised5006 my people5971, that they should be no more a nation1471 before6440 them. 25 Thus saith559 the LORD3068; If my covenant1285 be not with day3119 and night3915, and if I have not appointed7760 the ordinances2708 of heaven8064 and earth776; 26 Then1571 will I cast away3988 the seed2233 of Jacob3290, and David1732 my servant5650, so that I will not take3947 any of his seed2233 to be rulers4910 over the seed2233 of Abraham85, Isaac3446, and Jacob3290: for I will cause their captivity7622 to return7725 7725, and have mercy7355 on them.
