1 The word1697 that came to Jeremiah3414 concerning all the people5971 of Judah3063 in the fourth7243 year8141 of Jehoiakim3079 the son1121 of Josiah2977 king4428 of Judah3063, that was the first7224 year8141 of Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894; 2 The which Jeremiah3414 the prophet5030 spake1696 unto all the people5971 of Judah3063, and to all the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389, saying559, 3 From the thirteenth7969 6240 year8141 of Josiah2977 the son1121 of Amon526 king4428 of Judah3063, even unto this day3117, that is the three7969 and twentieth6242 year8141, the word1697 of the LORD3068 hath come unto me, and I have spoken1696 unto you, rising early7925 and speaking1696; but ye have not hearkened8085. 4 And the LORD3068 hath sent7971 unto you all his servants5650 the prophets5030, rising early7925 and sending7971 them; but ye have not hearkened8085, nor inclined5186 your ear241 to hear8085. 5 They said559, Turn ye again7725 now every one376 from his evil7451 way1870, and from the evil7455 of your doings4611, and dwell3427 in the land127 that the LORD3068 hath given5414 unto you and to your fathers1 for5704 ever5769 and ever5769: 6 And go3212 not after310 other312 gods430 to serve5647 them, and to worship7812 them, and provoke me not to anger3707 with the works4639 of your hands3027; and I will do you no hurt7489. 7 Yet ye have not hearkened8085 unto me, saith5002 the LORD3068; that ye might provoke me to anger3707 with the works4639 of your hands3027 to your own hurt7451.

8 Therefore thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635; Because ye have not heard8085 my words1697, 9 Behold, I will send7971 and take3947 all the families4940 of the north6828, saith5002 the LORD3068, and Nebuchadrezzar5019 the king4428 of Babylon894, my servant5650, and will bring935 them against this land776, and against the inhabitants3427 thereof, and against all these nations1471 round about5439, and will utterly destroy2763 them, and make7760 them an astonishment8047, and an hissing8322, and perpetual5769 desolations2723. 10 Moreover I will take6 from them the voice6963 of mirth8342, and the voice6963 of gladness8057, the voice6963 of the bridegroom2860, and the voice6963 of the bride3618, the sound6963 of the millstones7347, and the light216 of the candle5216.¹ 11 And this whole land776 shall be a desolation2723, and an astonishment8047; and these nations1471 shall serve5647 the king4428 of Babylon894 seventy7657 years8141. 12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy7657 years8141 are accomplished4390, that I will punish6485 the king4428 of Babylon894, and that nation1471, saith5002 the LORD3068, for their iniquity5771, and the land776 of the Chaldeans3778, and will make7760 it perpetual5769 desolations8077.² 13 And I will bring935 upon that land776 all my words1697 which I have pronounced1696 against it, even all that is written3789 in this book5612, which Jeremiah3414 hath prophesied5012 against all the nations1471. 14 For many7227 nations1471 and great1419 kings4428 shall serve5647 themselves of them also: and I will recompense7999 them according to their deeds6467, and according to the works4639 of their own hands3027.

15 For thus saith559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478 unto me; Take3947 the wine3196 cup3563 of this fury2534 at my hand3027, and cause all the nations1471, to whom I send7971 thee, to drink8248 it. 16 And they shall drink8354, and be moved1607, and be mad1984, because6440 of the sword2719 that I will send7971 among them. 17 Then took3947 I the cup3563 at the LORD'S3068 hand3027, and made all the nations1471 to drink8248, unto whom the LORD3068 had sent7971 me: 18 To wit, Jerusalem3389, and the cities5892 of Judah3063, and the kings4428 thereof, and the princes8269 thereof, to make5414 them a desolation2723, an astonishment8047, an hissing8322, and a curse7045; as it is this day3117; 19 Pharaoh6547 king4428 of Egypt4714, and his servants5650, and his princes8269, and all his people5971; 20 And all the mingled6154 people, and all the kings4428 of the land776 of Uz5780, and all the kings4428 of the land776 of the Philistines6430, and Ashkelon831, and Azzah5804, and Ekron6138, and the remnant7611 of Ashdod795, 21 Edom123, and Moab4124, and the children1121 of Ammon5983, 22 And all the kings4428 of Tyrus6865, and all the kings4428 of Zidon6721, and the kings4428 of the isles339 which are beyond5676 the sea3220,³ 23 Dedan1719, and Tema8485, and Buz938, and all that are in the utmost7112 corners6285,⁴ 24 And all the kings4428 of Arabia6152, and all the kings4428 of the mingled people6154 that dwell7931 in the desert4057, 25 And all the kings4428 of Zimri2174, and all the kings4428 of Elam5867, and all the kings4428 of the Medes4074, 26 And all the kings4428 of the north6828, far7350 and near7138, one376 with another251, and all the kingdoms4467 of the world776, which are upon the face6440 of the earth127: and the king4428 of Sheshach8347 shall drink8354 after310 them. 27 Therefore thou shalt say559 unto them, Thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635, the God430 of Israel3478; Drink8354 ye, and be drunken7937, and spue7006, and fall5307, and rise6965 no more, because6440 of the sword2719 which I will send7971 among you. 28 And it shall be, if they refuse3985 to take3947 the cup3563 at thine hand3027 to drink8354, then shalt thou say559 unto them, Thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635; Ye shall certainly8354 drink8354. 29 For, lo, I begin2490 to bring evil7489 on the city5892 which is called7121 by my name8034, and should ye be utterly5352 unpunished5352? Ye shall not be unpunished5352: for I will call7121 for a sword2719 upon all the inhabitants3427 of the earth776, saith5002 the LORD3068 of hosts6635.⁵

30 Therefore prophesy5012 thou against them all these words1697, and say559 unto them, The LORD3068 shall roar7580 from on high4791, and utter5414 his voice6963 from his holy6944 habitation4583; he shall mightily7580 roar7580 upon his habitation5116; he shall give6030 a shout1959, as they that tread1869 the grapes, against all the inhabitants3427 of the earth776. 31 A noise7588 shall come935 even to the ends7097 of the earth776; for the LORD3068 hath a controversy7379 with the nations1471, he will plead8199 with all flesh1320; he will give5414 them that are wicked7563 to the sword2719, saith5002 the LORD3068. 32 Thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635, Behold, evil7451 shall go forth3318 from nation1471 to nation1471, and a great1419 whirlwind5591 shall be raised up5782 from the coasts3411 of the earth776. 33 And the slain2491 of the LORD3068 shall be at that day3117 from one end7097 of the earth776 even unto the other end7097 of the earth776: they shall not be lamented5594, neither gathered622, nor buried6912; they shall be dung1828 upon6440 the ground127. 34 Howl3213, ye shepherds7462, and cry2199; and wallow6428 yourselves in the ashes, ye principal117 of the flock6629: for the days3117 of your slaughter2873 and of your dispersions8600 are accomplished4390; and ye shall fall5307 like a pleasant2532 vessel3627.⁶⁷ 35 And the shepherds7462 shall have no way4498 to flee6, nor the principal117 of the flock6629 to escape6413.⁸ 36 A voice6963 of the cry6818 of the shepherds7462, and an howling3215 of the principal117 of the flock6629, shall be heard: for the LORD3068 hath spoiled7703 their pasture4830. 37 And the peaceable7965 habitations4999 are cut down1826 because6440 of the fierce2740 anger639 of the LORD3068. 38 He hath forsaken5800 his covert5520, as the lion3715: for their land776 is desolate8047 because6440 of the fierceness2740 of the oppressor3238, and because6440 of his fierce2740 anger639.⁹
