1 Righteous6662 art thou, O LORD3068, when I plead7378 with thee: yet let me talk1696 with thee of thy judgments4941: Wherefore doth the way1870 of the wicked7563 prosper6743? wherefore are all they happy7951 that deal very899 treacherously898?¹ 2 Thou hast planted5193 them, yea, they have taken root8327: they grow3212, yea, they bring forth6213 fruit6529: thou art near7138 in their mouth6310, and far from7350 their reins3629.² 3 But thou, O LORD3068, knowest3045 me: thou hast seen7200 me, and tried974 mine heart3820 toward thee: pull them out5423 like sheep6629 for the slaughter2878, and prepare6942 them for the day3117 of slaughter2028.³ 4 How long shall the land776 mourn56, and the herbs6212 of every field7704 wither3001, for the wickedness7451 of them that dwell3427 therein? the beasts929 are consumed5595, and the birds5775; because they said559, He shall not see7200 our last end319. 5 If thou hast run7323 with the footmen7273, and they have wearied3811 thee, then how canst thou contend8474 with horses5483? and if in the land776 of peace7965, wherein thou trustedst982, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do6213 in the swelling1347 of Jordan3383? 6 For even thy brethren251, and the house1004 of thy father1, even they have dealt treacherously898 with thee; yea, they have called7121 a multitude4392 after310 thee: believe539 them not, though they speak1696 fair words2896 unto thee.⁴⁵

7 I have forsaken5800 mine house1004, I have left5203 mine heritage5159; I have given5414 the dearly beloved3033 of my soul5315 into the hand3709 of her enemies341.⁶ 8 Mine heritage5159 is unto me as a lion738 in the forest3293; it crieth out5414 6963 against me: therefore have I hated8130 it.⁷ 9 Mine heritage5159 is unto me as a speckled6641 bird5861, the birds5861 round about5439 are against her; come3212 ye, assemble622 all the beasts2416 of the field7704, come857 to devour402.⁸⁹ 10 Many7227 pastors7462 have destroyed7843 my vineyard3754, they have trodden947 my portion2513 under foot947, they have made5414 my pleasant2532 portion2513 a desolate8077 wilderness4057.¹⁰ 11 They have made7760 it desolate8076, and being desolate8077 it mourneth56 unto me; the whole land776 is made desolate8074, because no man376 layeth7760 it to heart3820. 12 The spoilers7703 are come935 upon all high places8205 through the wilderness4057: for the sword2719 of the LORD3068 shall devour398 from the one end7097 of the land776 even to the other end7097 of the land776: no flesh1320 shall have peace7965. 13 They have sown2232 wheat2406, but shall reap7114 thorns6975: they have put themselves to pain2470, but shall not profit3276: and they shall be ashamed954 of your revenues8393 because of the fierce2740 anger639 of the LORD3068.¹¹

14 Thus saith559 the LORD3068 against all mine evil7451 neighbours7934, that touch5060 the inheritance5159 which I have caused my people5971 Israel3478 to inherit5157; Behold, I will pluck them out5428 of their land127, and pluck out5428 the house1004 of Judah3063 from among8432 them. 15 And it shall come to pass, after310 that I have plucked them out5428 I will return7725, and have compassion7355 on them, and will bring them again7725, every man376 to his heritage5159, and every man376 to his land776. 16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently3925 learn3925 the ways1870 of my people5971, to swear7650 by my name8034, The LORD3068 liveth2416; as they taught3925 my people5971 to swear7650 by Baal1168; then shall they be built1129 in the midst8432 of my people5971. 17 But if they will not obey8085, I will utterly5428 pluck up5428 and destroy6 that nation1471, saith5002 the LORD3068.
