1 Behold, a king4428 shall reign4427 in righteousness6664, and princes8269 shall rule8323 in judgment4941. 2 And a man376 shall be as an hiding place4224 from the wind7307, and a covert5643 from the tempest2230; as rivers6388 of water4325 in a dry place6724, as the shadow6738 of a great3515 rock5553 in a weary5889 land776.¹ 3 And the eyes5869 of them that see7200 shall not be dim8159, and the ears241 of them that hear8085 shall hearken7181. 4 The heart3824 also of the rash4116 shall understand995 knowledge1847, and the tongue3956 of the stammerers5926 shall be ready4116 to speak1696 plainly6703.²³ 5 The vile person5036 shall be no more called7121 liberal5081, nor the churl3596 said559 to be bountiful7771. 6 For the vile person5036 will speak1696 villany5039, and his heart3820 will work6213 iniquity205, to practise6213 hypocrisy2612, and to utter1696 error8442 against the LORD3068, to make empty7324 the soul5315 of the hungry7457, and he will cause the drink4945 of the thirsty6771 to fail2637. 7 The instruments3627 also of the churl3596 are evil7451: he deviseth3289 wicked devices2154 to destroy2254 the poor6041 6035 with lying8267 words561, even when the needy34 speaketh1696 right4941.⁴ 8 But the liberal5081 deviseth3289 liberal things5081; and by liberal things5081 shall he stand6965.⁵
