1 And there shall come forth3318 a rod2415 out of the stem1503 of Jesse3448, and a Branch5342 shall grow6509 out of his roots8328: 2 And the spirit7307 of the LORD3068 shall rest5117 upon him, the spirit7307 of wisdom2451 and understanding998, the spirit7307 of counsel6098 and might1369, the spirit7307 of knowledge1847 and of the fear3374 of the LORD3068; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding7306 in the fear3374 of the LORD3068: and he shall not judge8199 after the sight4758 of his eyes5869, neither reprove3198 after the hearing4926 of his ears241:¹ 4 But with righteousness6664 shall he judge8199 the poor1800, and reprove3198 with equity4334 for the meek6035 of the earth776: and he shall smite5221 the earth776 with the rod7626 of his mouth6310, and with the breath7307 of his lips8193 shall he slay4191 the wicked7563.² 5 And righteousness6664 shall be the girdle232 of his loins4975, and faithfulness530 the girdle232 of his reins2504. 6 The wolf2061 also shall dwell1481 with the lamb3532, and the leopard5246 shall lie down7257 with the kid1423; and the calf5695 and the young lion3715 and the fatling4806 together3162; and a little6996 child5288 shall lead5090 them. 7 And the cow6510 and the bear1677 shall feed7462; their young ones3206 shall lie down7257 together3162: and the lion738 shall eat398 straw8401 like the ox1241. 8 And the sucking child3243 shall play8173 on the hole2352 of the asp6620, and the weaned child1580 shall put1911 his hand3027 on the cockatrice'6848 den3975.³ 9 They shall not hurt7489 nor destroy7843 in all my holy6944 mountain2022: for the earth776 shall be full4390 of the knowledge1844 of the LORD3068, as the waters4325 cover3680 the sea3220.

10 And in that day3117 there shall be a root8328 of Jesse3448, which shall stand5975 for an ensign5251 of the people5971; to it shall the Gentiles1471 seek1875: and his rest4496 shall be glorious3519.⁴ [Röm 15,12] 11 And it shall come to pass in that day3117, that the Lord136 shall set3254 his hand3027 again3254 the second time8145 to recover7069 the remnant7605 of his people5971, which shall be left7604, from Assyria804, and from Egypt4714, and from Pathros6624, and from Cush3568, and from Elam5867, and from Shinar8152, and from Hamath2574, and from the islands339 of the sea3220. 12 And he shall set up5375 an ensign5251 for the nations1471, and shall assemble622 the outcasts1760 of Israel3478, and gather together6908 the dispersed5310 of Judah3063 from the four702 corners3671 of the earth776.⁵ 13 The envy7068 also of Ephraim669 shall depart5493, and the adversaries6887 of Judah3063 shall be cut off3772: Ephraim669 shall not envy7065 Judah3063, and Judah3063 shall not vex6887 Ephraim669. 14 But they shall fly5774 upon the shoulders3802 of the Philistines6430 toward the west3220; they shall spoil962 them1121 of the east6924 together3162: they shall lay4916 their hand3027 upon Edom123 and Moab4124; and the children1121 of Ammon5983 shall obey4928 them.⁶⁷⁸ 15 And the LORD3068 shall utterly destroy2763 the tongue3956 of the Egyptian4714 sea3220; and with his mighty5868 wind7307 shall he shake5130 his hand3027 over the river5104, and shall smite5221 it in the seven7651 streams5158, and make men go over1869 dryshod5275.⁹ 16 And there shall be an highway4546 for the remnant7605 of his people5971, which834 shall be left7604, from Assyria804; like as it was to Israel3478 in the day3117 that he came up5927 out of the land776 of Egypt4714.
