1 He cried7121 also in mine ears241 with a loud1419 voice6963, saying559, Cause them that have charge6486 over the city5892 to draw near7126, even every man376 with his destroying4892 weapon3627 in his hand3027. 2 And, behold, six8337 men582 came935 from the way1870 of the higher5945 gate8179, which lieth6437 toward the north6828, and every man376 a slaughter4660 weapon3627 in his hand3027; and one259 man376 among8432 them was clothed3847 with linen906, with a writer's5608 inkhorn7083 by his side4975: and they went in935, and stood5975 beside681 the brasen5178 altar4196.¹²³ 3 And the glory3519 of the God430 of Israel3478 was gone up5927 from the cherub3742, whereupon he was, to the threshold4670 of the house1004. And he called7121 to the man376 clothed3847 with linen906, which had the writer's5608 inkhorn7083 by his side4975; 4 And the LORD3068 said559 unto him, Go through5674 the midst8432 of the city5892, through the midst8432 of Jerusalem3389, and set8427 a mark8420 upon the foreheads4696 of the men582 that sigh584 and that cry602 for all the abominations8441 that be done6213 in the midst8432 thereof.⁴

5 And to the others428 he said559 in mine hearing241, Go5674 ye after310 him through the city5892, and smite5221: let not your eye5869 spare2347, neither have ye pity2550:⁵ 6 Slay2026 utterly4889 old2205 and young970, both maids1330, and little children2945, and women802: but come not near5066 any man376 upon whom is the mark8420; and begin2490 at my sanctuary4720. And they went forth3318, and slew5221 in the city5892. 8 And it came to pass, while they were slaying5221 them, and I was left7604, that I fell5307 upon my face6440, and cried2199, and said559, Ah162 Lord136 GOD3069! wilt thou destroy7843 all the residue7611 of Israel3478 in thy pouring out8210 of thy fury2534 upon Jerusalem3389? 9 Then said559 he unto me, The iniquity5771 of the house1004 of Israel3478 and Judah3063 is exceeding3966 3966 great1419, and the land776 is full4390 of blood1818, and the city5892 full4390 of perverseness4297: for they say559, The LORD3068 hath forsaken5800 the earth776, and the LORD3068 seeth7200 not.⁷⁸ 10 And as for me also, mine eye5869 shall not spare2347, neither will I have pity2550, but I will recompense5414 their way1870 upon their head7218. 11 And, behold, the man376 clothed3847 with linen906, which had the inkhorn7083 by his side4975, reported7725 the matter1697, saying559, I have done6213 as thou hast commanded6680 me.⁹
