1 Moreover the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto me, saying559, 2 Now, thou son1121 of man120, wilt thou judge8199, wilt thou judge8199 the bloody1818 city5892? yea, thou shalt shew3045 her all her abominations8441.¹²³ 3 Then say559 thou, Thus saith559 the Lord136 GOD3069, The city5892 sheddeth8210 blood1818 in the midst8432 of it, that her time6256 may come935, and maketh6213 idols1544 against herself to defile2930 herself. 4 Thou art become guilty816 in thy blood1818 that thou hast shed8210; and hast defiled2930 thyself in thine idols1544 which thou hast made6213; and thou hast caused thy days3117 to draw near7126, and art come935 even unto thy years8141: therefore have I made5414 thee a reproach2781 unto the heathen1471, and a mocking7048 to all countries776. 5 Those that be near7138, and those that be far7350 from thee, shall mock7046 thee, which art infamous2931 8034 and much7227 vexed4103.⁴ 6 Behold, the princes5387 of Israel3478, every one376 were in thee to their power2220 to shed8210 blood1818.⁵ 7 In thee have they set light7043 by father1 and mother517: in the midst8432 of thee have they dealt6213 by oppression6233 with the stranger1616: in thee have they vexed3238 the fatherless3490 and the widow490.⁶ 8 Thou hast despised959 mine holy things6944, and hast profaned2490 my sabbaths7676. 9 In thee are men582 that carry tales7400 to shed8210 blood1818: and in thee they eat398 upon the mountains2022: in the midst8432 of thee they commit6213 lewdness2154.⁷ 10 In thee have they discovered1540 their fathers'1 nakedness6172: in thee have they humbled6031 her that was set apart5079 for pollution2931. 11 And one376 hath committed6213 abomination8441 with his neighbour's7453 wife802; and another376 hath lewdly2154 defiled2930 his daughter in law3618; and another376 in thee hath humbled6031 his sister269, his father's1 daughter1323.⁸⁹¹⁰ 12 In thee have they taken3947 gifts7810 to shed8210 blood1818; thou hast taken3947 usury5392 and increase8636, and thou hast greedily gained1214 of thy neighbours7453 by extortion6233, and hast forgotten7911 me, saith5002 the Lord136 GOD3069. 13 Behold, therefore I have smitten5221 mine hand3709 at thy dishonest gain1215 which thou hast made6213, and at thy blood1818 which hath been in the midst8432 of thee. 14 Can thine heart3820 endure5975, or can thine hands3027 be strong2388, in the days3117 that I shall deal6213 with thee? I the LORD3068 have spoken1696 it, and will do6213 it. 15 And I will scatter6327 thee among the heathen1471, and disperse2219 thee in the countries776, and will consume8552 thy filthiness2932 out of thee. 16 And thou shalt take thine inheritance2490 5157 in thyself in the sight5869 of the heathen1471, and thou shalt know3045 that I am the LORD3068.¹¹

17 And the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto me, saying559, 18 Son1121 of man120, the house1004 of Israel3478 is to me become dross5509: all they are brass5178, and tin913, and iron1270, and lead5777, in the midst8432 of the furnace3564; they are even the dross5509 of silver3701.¹² 19 Therefore thus saith559 the Lord136 GOD3069; Because ye are all become dross5509, behold, therefore I will gather6908 you into the midst8432 of Jerusalem3389. 20 As they gather6910 silver3701, and brass5178, and iron1270, and lead5777, and tin913, into the midst8432 of the furnace3564, to blow5301 the fire784 upon it, to melt5413 it; so will I gather6908 you in mine anger639 and in my fury2534, and I will leave3240 you there, and melt5413 you.¹³ 21 Yea, I will gather3664 you, and blow5301 upon you in the fire784 of my wrath5678, and ye shall be melted5413 in the midst8432 thereof. 22 As silver3701 is melted2046 in the midst8432 of the furnace3564, so shall ye be melted5413 in the midst8432 thereof; and ye shall know3045 that I the LORD3068 have poured out8210 my fury2534 upon you.

23 And the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto me, saying559, 24 Son1121 of man120, say559 unto her, Thou art the land776 that is not cleansed2891, nor rained1656 upon in the day3117 of indignation2195. 25 There is a conspiracy7195 of her prophets5030 in the midst8432 thereof, like a roaring7580 lion738 ravening2963 the prey2964; they have devoured398 souls5315; they have taken3947 the treasure2633 and precious things3366; they have made her many7235 widows490 in the midst8432 thereof. 26 Her priests3548 have violated2554 my law8451, and have profaned2490 mine holy things6944: they have put no difference914 between the holy6944 and profane2455, neither have they shewed3045 difference between the unclean2931 and the clean2889, and have hid5956 their eyes5869 from my sabbaths7676, and I am profaned2490 among8432 them.¹⁴ 27 Her princes8269 in the midst7130 thereof are like wolves2061 ravening2963 the prey2964, to shed8210 blood1818, and to destroy6 souls5315, to get1214 dishonest gain1215. 28 And her prophets5030 have daubed2902 them with untempered8602 morter, seeing2374 vanity7723, and divining7080 lies3577 unto them, saying559, Thus saith559 the Lord136 GOD3069, when the LORD3068 hath not spoken1696. 29 The people5971 of the land776 have used oppression6231 6233, and exercised1497 robbery1498, and have vexed3238 the poor6041 and needy34: yea, they have oppressed6231 the stranger1616 wrongfully4941.¹⁵¹⁶ 30 And I sought1245 for a man376 among them, that should make up1443 the hedge1447, and stand5975 in the gap6556 before6440 me for the land776, that I should not destroy7843 it: but I found4672 none. 31 Therefore have I poured out8210 mine indignation2195 upon them; I have consumed3615 them with the fire784 of my wrath5678: their own way1870 have I recompensed5414 upon their heads7218, saith5002 the Lord136 GOD3069.
