1 And the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto me, saying559, 2 Son1121 of man120, set7760 thy face6440 toward Jerusalem3389, and drop5197 thy word toward the holy places4720, and prophesy5012 against the land127 of Israel3478, 3 And say559 to the land127 of Israel3478, Thus saith559 the LORD3068; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth3318 my sword2719 out of his sheath8593, and will cut off3772 from thee the righteous6662 and the wicked7563. 4 Seeing3282 then that I will cut off3772 from thee the righteous6662 and the wicked7563, therefore shall my sword2719 go forth3318 out of his sheath8593 against all flesh1320 from the south5045 to the north6828: 5 That all flesh1320 may know3045 that I the LORD3068 have drawn forth3318 my sword2719 out of his sheath8593: it shall not return7725 any more. 6 Sigh584 therefore, thou son1121 of man120, with the breaking7670 of thy loins4975; and with bitterness4814 sigh584 before their eyes5869. 7 And it shall be, when they say559 unto thee, Wherefore sighest584 thou? that thou shalt answer559, For the tidings8052; because it cometh935: and every heart3820 shall melt4549, and all hands3027 shall be feeble7503, and every spirit7307 shall faint3543, and all knees1290 shall be weak3212 as water4325: behold, it cometh935, and shall be brought to pass1961, saith5002 the Lord136 GOD3069.¹

8 Again the word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto me, saying559, 9 Son1121 of man120, prophesy5012, and say559, Thus saith559 the LORD3068; Say559, A sword2719, a sword2719 is sharpened2300, and also furbished4803: 10 It is sharpened2300 to make a sore2874 slaughter2873; it is furbished4178 that it may glitter1300: should176 we then make mirth7797? it contemneth3988 the rod7626 of my son1121, as every tree6086.² 11 And he hath given5414 it to be furbished4803, that it may be handled3709 8610: this sword2719 is sharpened2300, and it is furbished4178, to give5414 it into the hand3027 of the slayer2026. 12 Cry2199 and howl3213, son1121 of man120: for it shall be upon my people5971, it shall be upon all the princes5387 of Israel3478: terrors4048 by reason of413 the sword2719 shall be upon my people5971: smite5606 therefore upon thy thigh3409.³ 13 Because it is a trial974, and what if the sword contemn3988 even the rod7626? it shall be no more, saith5002 the Lord136 GOD3069.⁴ 14 Thou therefore, son1121 of man120, prophesy5012, and smite5221 thine hands3709 3709 together5221, and let the sword2719 be doubled3717 the third7992 time, the sword2719 of the slain2491: it is the sword2719 of the great1419 men that are slain2491, which entereth into their privy chambers2314.⁵ 15 I have set5414 the point19 of the sword2719 against all their gates8179, that their heart3820 may faint4127, and their ruins4383 be multiplied7235: ah253! it is made6213 bright1300, it is wrapped up4593 for the slaughter2874.⁶⁷ 16 Go thee one way or other258, either on7760 the right hand3231, or on the left8041, whithersoever575 thy face6440 is set3259.⁸ 17 I will also smite5221 mine hands3709 together3709, and I will cause my fury2534 to rest5117: I the LORD3068 have said1696 it.

18 The word1697 of the LORD3068 came unto me again, saying559, 19 Also, thou son1121 of man120, appoint7760 thee two8147 ways1870, that the sword2719 of the king4428 of Babylon894 may come935: both twain8147 shall come forth3318 out of one259 land776: and choose1254 thou a place3027, choose1254 it at the head7218 of the way1870 to the city5892. 20 Appoint7760 a way1870, that the sword2719 may come935 to Rabbath7237 of the Ammonites1121 5983, and to Judah3063 in Jerusalem3389 the defenced1219. 21 For the king4428 of Babylon894 stood5975 at the parting517 of the way1870, at the head7218 of the two8147 ways1870, to use7080 divination7081: he made his arrows2671 bright7043, he consulted7592 with images8655, he looked7200 in the liver3516.⁹¹⁰¹¹ 22 At his right hand3225 was the divination7081 for Jerusalem3389, to appoint7760 captains3733, to open6605 the mouth6310 in the slaughter7524, to lift up7311 the voice6963 with shouting8643, to appoint7760 battering rams3733 against the gates8179, to cast8210 a mount5550, and to build1129 a fort1785.¹² 23 And it shall be unto them as a false7723 divination7080 in their sight5869, to them that have sworn7650 oaths7621: but he will call to remembrance2142 the iniquity5771, that they may be taken8610.¹³ 24 Therefore thus saith559 the Lord136 GOD3069; Because ye have made your iniquity5771 to be remembered2142, in that your transgressions6588 are discovered1540, so that in all your doings5949 your sins2403 do appear7200; because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance2142, ye shall be taken8610 with the hand3709. 25 And thou, profane2491 wicked7563 prince5387 of Israel3478, whose day3117 is come935, when6256 iniquity5771 shall have an end7093, 26 Thus saith559 the Lord136 GOD3069; Remove5493 the diadem4701, and take off7311 the crown5850: this shall not be the same2063: exalt1361 him that is low8217, and abase8213 him that is high1364. 27 I will overturn5754, overturn5754, overturn5754, it: and it shall be7760 no more, until he come935 whose right4941 it is; and I will give5414 it him.¹⁴

28 And thou, son1121 of man120, prophesy5012 and say559, Thus saith559 the Lord136 GOD3069 concerning the Ammonites1121 5983, and concerning their reproach2781; even say559 thou, The sword2719, the sword2719 is drawn6605: for the slaughter2874 it is furbished4803, to consume398 because of the glittering1300: 29 Whiles they see2372 vanity7723 unto thee, whiles they divine7080 a lie3577 unto thee, to bring5414 thee upon the necks6677 of them that are slain2491, of the wicked7563, whose day3117 is come935, when6256 their iniquity5771 shall have an end7093. 30 Shall I cause it to return7725 into his sheath8593? I will judge8199 thee in the place4725 where thou wast created1254, in the land776 of thy nativity4351.¹⁵ 31 And I will pour out8210 mine indignation2195 upon thee, I will blow6315 against thee in the fire784 of my wrath5678, and deliver5414 thee into the hand3027 of brutish1197 men582, and skilful2796 to destroy4889.¹⁶ 32 Thou shalt be for fuel402 to the fire784; thy blood1818 shall be in the midst8432 of the land776; thou shalt be no more remembered2142: for I the LORD3068 have spoken1696 it.
