1 And the LORD3068 spake1696 unto Moses4872, saying559, 2 Speak1696 unto the children1121 of Israel3478, that they turn7725 and encamp2583 before6440 Pihahiroth6367, between Migdol4024 and the sea3220, over against6440 Baalzephon1189: before5226 it shall ye encamp2583 by the sea3220. 3 For Pharaoh6547 will say559 of the children1121 of Israel3478, They are entangled943 in the land776, the wilderness4057 hath shut them in5462. 4 And I will harden2388 Pharaoh's6547 heart3820, that he shall follow7291 after310 them; and I will be honoured3513 upon Pharaoh6547, and upon all his host2428; that the Egyptians4714 may know3045 that I am the LORD3068. And they did6213 so. 5 And it was told5046 the king4428 of Egypt4714 that the people5971 fled1272: and the heart3824 of Pharaoh6547 and of his servants5650 was turned2015 against the people5971, and they said559, Why have we done6213 this, that we have let Israel3478 go7971 from serving5647 us? 6 And he made ready631 his chariot7393, and took3947 his people5971 with him: 7 And he took3947 six8337 hundred3967 chosen977 chariots7393, and all the chariots7393 of Egypt4714, and captains7991 over every one of them. 8 And the LORD3068 hardened2388 the heart3820 of Pharaoh6547 king4428 of Egypt4714, and he pursued7291 after310 the children1121 of Israel3478: and the children1121 of Israel3478 went out3318 with an high7311 hand3027. 9 But the Egyptians4714 pursued7291 after310 them, all the horses5483 and chariots7393 of Pharaoh6547, and his horsemen6571, and his army2428, and overtook5381 them encamping2583 by the sea3220, beside Pihahiroth6367, before6440 Baalzephon1189.

10 And when Pharaoh6547 drew nigh7126, the children1121 of Israel3478 lifted up5375 their eyes5869, and, behold, the Egyptians4714 marched5265 after310 them; and they were sore3966 afraid3372: and the children1121 of Israel3478 cried out6817 unto the LORD3068. 11 And they said559 unto Moses4872, Because there were no graves6913 in Egypt4714, hast thou taken us away3947 to die4191 in the wilderness4057? wherefore2063 hast thou dealt6213 thus with us, to carry us forth3318 out of Egypt4714? 12 Is not this the word1697 that we did tell1696 thee in Egypt4714, saying559, Let us alone2308, that we may serve5647 the Egyptians4714? For it had been better2896 for us to serve5647 the Egyptians4714, than that we should die4191 in the wilderness4057. 13 And Moses4872 said559 unto the people5971, Fear3372 ye not, stand still3320, and see7200 the salvation3444 of the LORD3068, which he will shew6213 to you to day3117: for the Egyptians4714 whom ye have seen7200 to day3117, ye shall see7200 them again3254 no more for5704 ever5769.¹ 14 The LORD3068 shall fight3898 for you, and ye shall hold your peace2790.

15 And the LORD3068 said559 unto Moses4872, Wherefore criest6817 thou unto me? speak1696 unto the children1121 of Israel3478, that they go forward5265: 16 But lift thou up7311 thy rod4294, and stretch out5186 thine hand3027 over the sea3220, and divide1234 it: and the children1121 of Israel3478 shall go935 on dry3004 ground through the midst8432 of the sea3220. 17 And I, behold, I will harden2388 the hearts3820 of the Egyptians4714, and they shall follow935 them310: and I will get me honour3513 upon Pharaoh6547, and upon all his host2428, upon his chariots7393, and upon his horsemen6571. 18 And the Egyptians4714 shall know3045 that I am the LORD3068, when I have gotten me honour3513 upon Pharaoh6547, upon his chariots7393, and upon his horsemen6571. 19 And the angel4397 of God430, which went1980 before6440 the camp4264 of Israel3478, removed5265 and went3212 behind310 them; and the pillar5982 of the cloud6051 went5265 from before their face6440, and stood5975 behind310 them: 20 And it came935 between the camp4264 of the Egyptians4714 and the camp4264 of Israel3478; and it was a cloud6051 and darkness2822 to them, but it gave light215 by night3915 to these: so that the one came not near7126 the other2088 all the night3915.

21 And Moses4872 stretched out5186 his hand3027 over the sea3220; and the LORD3068 caused the sea3220 to go3212 back by a strong5794 east6921 wind7307 all that night3915, and made7760 the sea3220 dry2724 land, and the waters4325 were divided1234. 22 And the children1121 of Israel3478 went935 into the midst8432 of the sea3220 upon the dry3004 ground: and the waters4325 were a wall2346 unto them on their right hand3225, and on their left8040. 23 And the Egyptians4714 pursued7291, and went in935 after310 them to the midst8432 of the sea3220, even all Pharaoh's6547 horses5483, his chariots7393, and his horsemen6571. 24 And it came to pass, that in the morning1242 watch821 the LORD3068 looked8259 unto the host4264 of the Egyptians4714 through the pillar5982 of fire784 and of the cloud6051, and troubled2000 the host4264 of the Egyptians4714, 25 And took off5493 their chariot4818 wheels212, that they drave5090 them heavily3517: so that the Egyptians4714 said559, Let us flee5127 from the face6440 of Israel3478; for the LORD3068 fighteth3898 for them against the Egyptians4714.² 26 And the LORD3068 said559 unto Moses4872, Stretch out5186 thine hand3027 over the sea3220, that the waters4325 may come again7725 upon the Egyptians4714, upon their chariots7393, and upon their horsemen6571. 27 And Moses4872 stretched forth5186 his hand3027 over the sea3220, and the sea3220 returned7725 to his strength386 when the morning1242 appeared6437; and the Egyptians4714 fled5127 against7125 it; and the LORD3068 overthrew5287 the Egyptians4714 in the midst8432 of the sea3220.³ 28 And the waters4325 returned7725, and covered3680 the chariots7393, and the horsemen6571, and all the host2428 of Pharaoh6547 that came935 into the sea3220 after310 them; there remained7604 not so much as5704 one259 of them. 29 But the children1121 of Israel3478 walked1980 upon dry3004 land in the midst8432 of the sea3220; and the waters4325 were a wall2346 unto them on their right hand3225, and on their left8040. 30 Thus the LORD3068 saved3467 Israel3478 that day3117 out of the hand3027 of the Egyptians4714; and Israel3478 saw7200 the Egyptians4714 dead4191 upon the sea3220 shore8193. 31 And Israel3478 saw7200 that great1419 work3027 which the LORD3068 did6213 upon the Egyptians4714: and the people5971 feared3372 the LORD3068, and believed539 the LORD3068, and his servant5650 Moses4872.⁴
