1 Then all the people5971 of Judah3063 took3947 Uzziah5818, who was sixteen8337 6240 years8141 old1121, and made him king4427 in the room of his father1 Amaziah558.¹ 2 He built1129 Eloth359, and restored7725 it to Judah3063, after310 that the king4428 slept7901 with his fathers1. 3 Sixteen8337 6240 years8141 old1121 was Uzziah5818 when he began to reign4427, and he reigned4427 fifty2572 and two8147 years8141 in Jerusalem3389. And his name8034 spread3318 far abroad7350; for he was marvellously6381 helped5826, till3588 he was strong2388.¹¹

16 But when he was strong2393, his heart3820 was lifted up1361 to his destruction7843: for he transgressed4603 against the LORD3068 his God430, and went935 into the temple1964 of the LORD3068 to burn incense6999 upon the altar4196 of incense7004. 17 And Azariah5838 the priest3548 went in935 after310 him, and with him fourscore8084 priests3548 of the LORD3068, that were valiant2428 men1121: 18 And they withstood5975 Uzziah5818 the king4428, and said559 unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah5818, to burn incense6999 unto the LORD3068, but to the priests3548 the sons1121 of Aaron175, that are consecrated6942 to burn incense6999: go out3318 of the sanctuary4720; for thou hast trespassed4603; neither shall it be for thine honour3519 from the LORD3068 God430. 19 Then Uzziah5818 was wroth2196, and had a censer4730 in his hand3027 to burn incense6999: and while he was wroth2196 with the priests3548, the leprosy6883 even rose up2224 in his forehead4696 before6440 the priests3548 in the house1004 of the LORD3068, from beside the incense7004 altar4196. 20 And Azariah5838 the chief7218 priest3548, and all the priests3548, looked6437 upon him, and, behold, he was leprous6879 in his forehead4696, and they thrust him out926 from thence; yea, himself hasted1765 also to go out3318, because the LORD3068 had smitten5060 him. 21 And Uzziah5818 the king4428 was a leper6879 unto the day3117 of his death4194, and dwelt in3427 a several2669 2669 house1004, being a leper6879; for he was cut off1504 from the house1004 of the LORD3068: and Jotham3147 his son1121 was over the king's4428 house1004, judging8199 the people5971 of the land776.¹² 22 Now the rest3499 of the acts1697 of Uzziah5818, first7223 and last314, did Isaiah3470 the prophet5030, the son1121 of Amoz531, write3789. 23 So Uzziah5818 slept7901 with his fathers1, and they buried6912 him with his fathers1 in the field7704 of the burial6900 which belonged to the kings4428; for they said559, He is a leper6879: and Jotham3147 his son1121 reigned4427 in his stead.
