So Ahaziah274 the son1121 of Jehoram3088 king4428 of Judah3063 reigned4427. 2 Forty705 and two8147 years8141 old1121 was Ahaziah274 when he began to reign4427, and he reigned4427 one259 year8141 in Jerusalem3389. His mother's517 name8034 also was Athaliah6271 the daughter1323 of Omri6018. 3 He also walked1980 in the ways1870 of the house1004 of Ahab256: for his mother517 was his counsellor3289 to do wickedly7561. 4 Wherefore he did6213 evil7451 in the sight5869 of the LORD3068 like the house1004 of Ahab256: for they were his counsellors3289 after310 the death4194 of his father1 to his destruction4889. 5 He walked1980 also after their counsel6098, and went3212 with Jehoram3088 the son1121 of Ahab256 king4428 of Israel3478 to war4421 against Hazael2371 king4428 of Syria758 at Ramothgilead7433 1568: and the Syrians7421 smote5221 Joram3141. 6 And he returned7725 to be healed7495 in Jezreel3157 because of the wounds4347 which were given5221 him at Ramah7414, when he fought3898 with Hazael2371 king4428 of Syria758. And Azariah5838 the son1121 of Jehoram3088 king4428 of Judah3063 went down3381 to see7200 Jehoram3088 the son1121 of Ahab256 at Jezreel3157, because he was sick2470.¹² 7 And the destruction8395 of Ahaziah274 was of God430 by coming935 to Joram3141: for when he was come935, he went out3318 with Jehoram3088 against Jehu3058 the son1121 of Nimshi5250, whom the LORD3068 had anointed4886 to cut off3772 the house1004 of Ahab256.³ 8 And it came to pass, that, when Jehu3058 was executing judgment8199 upon the house1004 of Ahab256, and found4672 the princes8269 of Judah3063, and the sons1121 of the brethren251 of Ahaziah274, that ministered8334 to Ahaziah274, he slew2026 them. 9 And he sought1245 Ahaziah274: and they caught3920 him, (for he was hid2244 in Samaria8111,) and brought935 him to Jehu3058: and when they had slain4191 him, they buried6912 him: Because, said559 they, he is the son1121 of Jehoshaphat3092, who sought1875 the LORD3068 with all his heart3824. 10 But when Athaliah6271 the mother517 of Ahaziah274 saw7200 that her son1121 was dead4191, she arose6965 and destroyed1696 all the seed2233 royal4467 of the house1004 of Judah3063. 11 But Jehoshabeath3090, the daughter1323 of the king4428, took3947 Joash3101 the son1121 of Ahaziah274, and stole1589 him from among8432 the king's4428 sons1121 that were slain4191, and put5414 him and his nurse3243 in a bedchamber2315 4296. So Jehoshabeath3090, the daughter1323 of king4428 Jehoram3088, the wife802 of Jehoiada3077 the priest3548, (for she was the sister269 of Ahaziah274,) hid5641 him from6440 Athaliah6271, so that she slew4191 him not. 12 And he was with them hid2244 in the house1004 of God430 six8337 years8141: and Athaliah6271 reigned4427 over the land776.
