1 In the six8337 and thirtieth7970 year8141 of the reign4438 of Asa609 Baasha1201 king4428 of Israel3478 came up5927 against Judah3063, and built1129 Ramah7414, to the intent that1115 he might let5414 none go out3318 or come in935 to Asa609 king4428 of Judah3063. 2 Then Asa609 brought out3318 silver3701 and gold2091 out of the treasures214 of the house1004 of the LORD3068 and of the king's4428 house1004, and sent7971 to Benhadad1130 king4428 of Syria758, that dwelt3427 at Damascus1834, saying559,¹ 3 There is a league1285 between me and thee, as there was between my father1 and thy father1: behold, I have sent7971 thee silver3701 and gold2091; go3212, break6565 thy league1285 with Baasha1201 king4428 of Israel3478, that he may depart5927 from me. 4 And Benhadad1130 hearkened8085 unto king4428 Asa609, and sent7971 the captains8269 of his armies2428 against the cities5892 of Israel3478; and they smote5221 Ijon5859, and Dan1835, and Abelmaim66, and all the store4543 cities5892 of Naphtali5321.² 5 And it came to pass, when Baasha1201 heard8085 it, that he left off2308 building1129 of Ramah7414, and let his work4399 cease7673. 6 Then Asa609 the king4428 took3947 all Judah3063; and they carried away5375 the stones68 of Ramah7414, and the timber6086 thereof, wherewith Baasha1201 was building1129; and he built1129 therewith Geba1387 and Mizpah4709.

7 And at that time6256 Hanani2607 the seer7200 came935 to Asa609 king4428 of Judah3063, and said559 unto him, Because thou hast relied8172 on the king4428 of Syria758, and not relied8172 on the LORD3068 thy God430, therefore is the host2428 of the king4428 of Syria758 escaped4422 out of thine hand3027. 8 Were not the Ethiopians3569 and the Lubims3864 a huge7230 host2428, with very3966 many7235 chariots7393 and horsemen6571? yet, because thou didst rely8172 on the LORD3068, he delivered5414 them into thine hand3027.³ 9 For the eyes5869 of the LORD3068 run to and fro7751 throughout the whole earth776, to shew himself strong2388 in the behalf of them whose heart3824 is perfect8003 toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly5528: therefore from henceforth6258 thou shalt have3426 wars4421.⁴ 10 Then Asa609 was wroth3707 with the seer7200, and put5414 him in a prison4115 house1004; for he was in a rage2197 with him because of this thing. And Asa609 oppressed7533 some of the people5971 the same time6256.⁵ 11 And, behold, the acts1697 of Asa609, first7223 and last314, lo, they are written3789 in the book5612 of the kings4428 of Judah3063 and Israel3478. 12 And Asa609 in the thirty7970 and ninth8672 year8141 of his reign4438 was diseased2456 in his feet7272, until his disease2483 was exceeding4605 great: yet in his disease2483 he sought1875 not to the LORD3068, but to the physicians7495. 13 And Asa609 slept7901 with his fathers1, and died4191 in the one259 and fortieth705 year8141 of his reign4427. 14 And they buried6912 him in his own sepulchres6913, which he had made3738 for himself in the city5892 of David1732, and laid7901 him in the bed4904 which was filled4390 with sweet odours1314 and divers kinds2177 of spices prepared7543 by the apothecaries'4842 art4639: and they made8313 a very3966 great1419 burning8316 for him.⁶
