1 And the Spirit7307 of God430 came upon Azariah5838 the son1121 of Oded5752: 2 And he went out3318 to meet6440 Asa609, and said559 unto him, Hear8085 ye me, Asa609, and all Judah3063 and Benjamin1144; The LORD3068 is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek1875 him, he will be found4672 of you; but if ye forsake5800 him, he will forsake5800 you.¹ 3 Now for a long7227 season3117 Israel3478 hath been without3808 the true571 God430, and without a teaching3384 priest3548, and without law8451. 4 But when they in their trouble6862 did turn7725 unto the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478, and sought1245 him, he was found4672 of them. 5 And in those times6256 there was no peace7965 to him that went out3318, nor to him that came in935, but great7227 vexations4103 were upon all the inhabitants3427 of the countries776. 6 And nation1471 was destroyed3807 of nation1471, and city5892 of city5892: for God430 did vex2000 them with all adversity6869.² 7 Be ye strong2388 therefore, and let not your hands3027 be weak7503: for your work6468 shall be3426 rewarded7939.

8 And when Asa609 heard8085 these words1697, and the prophecy5016 of Oded5752 the prophet5030, he took courage2388, and put away5674 the abominable idols8251 out of all the land776 of Judah3063 and Benjamin1144, and out of the cities5892 which he had taken3920 from mount2022 Ephraim669, and renewed2318 the altar4196 of the LORD3068, that was before6440 the porch197 of the LORD3068.³ 9 And he gathered6908 all Judah3063 and Benjamin1144, and the strangers1481 with them out of Ephraim669 and Manasseh4519, and out of Simeon8095: for they fell5307 to him out of Israel3478 in abundance7230, when they saw7200 that the LORD3068 his God430 was with him. 10 So they gathered themselves together6908 at Jerusalem3389 in the third7992 month2320, in the fifteenth2568 6240 year8141 of the reign4438 of Asa609. 11 And they offered2076 unto the LORD3068 the same time3117, of the spoil7998 which they had brought935, seven7651 hundred3967 oxen1241 and seven7651 thousand505 sheep6629.⁴ 12 And they entered935 into a covenant1285 to seek1875 the LORD3068 God430 of their fathers1 with all their heart3824 and with all their soul5315; 13 That whosoever would not seek1875 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478 should be put to death4191, whether4480 small6996 or great1419, whether man376 or woman802. 14 And they sware7650 unto the LORD3068 with a loud1419 voice6963, and with shouting8643, and with trumpets2689, and with cornets7782. 15 And all Judah3063 rejoiced8055 at the oath7621: for they had sworn7650 with all their heart3824, and sought1245 him with their whole desire7522; and he was found4672 of them: and the LORD3068 gave them rest5117 round about5439. 16 And also concerning Maachah4601 the mother517 of Asa609 the king4428, he removed5493 her from being queen1377, because she had made6213 an idol4656 in a grove842: and Asa609 cut down3772 her idol4656, and stamped1854 it, and burnt8313 it at the brook5158 Kidron6939.⁵⁶ 17 But the high places1116 were not taken away5493 out of Israel3478: nevertheless the heart3824 of Asa609 was perfect8003 all his days3117. 18 And he brought935 into the house1004 of God430 the things that his father1 had dedicated6944, and that he himself had dedicated6944, silver3701, and gold2091, and vessels3627. 19 And there was no more war4421 unto the five2568 and thirtieth7970 year8141 of the reign4438 of Asa609.
