1 Now Hiram2438 2361 king4428 of Tyre6865 sent7971 messengers4397 to David1732, and timber6086 of cedars730, with masons7023 and carpenters2796, to build1129 him an house1004. 2 And David1732 perceived3045 that the LORD3068 had confirmed3559 him king4428 over Israel3478, for his kingdom4438 was lifted up5375 on high4605, because of his people5971 Israel3478. 3 And David1732 took3947 more wives802 at Jerusalem3389: and David1732 begat3205 more sons1121 and daughters1323.¹ 4 Now these are the names8034 of his children3205 which he had in Jerusalem3389; Shammua8051, and Shobab7727, Nathan5416, and Solomon8010, 5 And Ibhar2984, and Elishua474, and Elpalet467, 6 And Nogah5052, and Nepheg5298, and Japhia3309, 7 And Elishama476, and Beeliada1182, and Eliphalet467.²

8 And when the Philistines6430 heard8085 that David1732 was anointed4886 king4428 over all Israel3478, all the Philistines6430 went up5927 to seek1245 David1732. And David1732 heard8085 of it, and went out3318 against6440 them. 9 And the Philistines6430 came935 and spread6584 themselves in the valley6010 of Rephaim7497. 10 And David1732 enquired7592 of God430, saying559, Shall I go up5927 against the Philistines6430? and wilt thou deliver5414 them into mine hand3027?
