1 And David1732 consulted3289 with the captains8269 of thousands505 and hundreds3967, and with every leader5057. 2 And David1732 said559 unto all the congregation6951 of Israel3478, If it seem good2895 unto you, and that it be of the LORD3068 our God430, let us send7971 abroad6555 unto our brethren251 every where, that are left7604 in all the land776 of Israel3478, and with them also to the priests3548 and Levites3881 which are in their cities5892 and suburbs4054, that they may gather6908 themselves unto us:¹² 3 And let us bring again5437 the ark727 of our God430 to us: for we enquired1875 not at it in the days3117 of Saul7586.³ 4 And all the congregation6951 said559 that they would do so6213: for the thing1697 was right3474 in the eyes5869 of all the people5971. 5 So David1732 gathered6950 all Israel3478 together6950, from Shihor7883 of Egypt4714 even unto the entering935 of Hemath2574, to bring935 the ark727 of God430 from Kirjathjearim7157. 6 And David1732 went up5927, and all Israel3478, to Baalah1173, that is, to Kirjathjearim7157, which belonged to Judah3063, to bring up5927 thence the ark727 of God430 the LORD3068, that dwelleth3427 between the cherubims3742, whose name8034 is called7121 on it. 7 And they carried7392 the ark727 of God430 in a new2319 cart5699 out of the house1004 of Abinadab41: and Uzza5798 and Ahio283 drave5090 the cart5699.⁴ 8 And David1732 and all Israel3478 played7832 before6440 God430 with all their might5797, and with singing7892, and with harps3658, and with psalteries5035, and with timbrels8596, and with cymbals4700, and with trumpets2689.⁵

9 And when they came935 unto the threshingfloor1637 of Chidon3592, Uzza5798 put forth7971 his hand3027 to hold270 the ark727; for the oxen1241 stumbled8058.⁶⁷ 10 And the anger639 of the LORD3068 was kindled2734 against Uzza5798, and he smote5221 him, because he put7971 his hand3027 to the ark727: and there he died4191 before6440 God430. 11 And David1732 was displeased2734, because the LORD3068 had made6555 a breach6556 upon Uzza5798: wherefore that place4725 is called7121 Perezuzza6560 to this day3117.⁸ 12 And David1732 was afraid3372 of God430 that day3117, saying559, How1963 shall I bring935 the ark727 of God430 home to me? 13 So David1732 brought5493 not the ark727 home to himself to the city5892 of David1732, but carried it aside5186 into the house1004 of Obededom5654 the Gittite1663.⁹ 14 And the ark727 of God430 remained3427 with the family1004 of Obededom5654 in his house1004 three7969 months2320. And the LORD3068 blessed1288 the house1004 of Obededom5654, and all that he had.
