1 Und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael taten wiederum was böse war in den AugenAugen JehovasJehovas; und EhudEhud war gestorben.1 And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of Jehovah; now Ehud was dead.
2 Da verkaufte sie JehovaJehova in die Hand JabinsJabins, des Königs der KanaaniterKanaaniter, der zu HazorHazor regierte; und sein Heeroberster war SiseraSisera, und er wohnte zu Haroscheth-GojimHaroscheth-Gojim.2 And Jehovah sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; and the captain of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth-Goim.
3 Und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael schrieen zu JehovaJehova; denn er hatte neunhundert eiserne WagenWagen, und er bedrückte die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael mit GewaltGewalt zwanzig JahreJahre.3 And the children of Israel cried to Jehovah; for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and he mightily oppressed the children of Israel twenty years.
4 Und DeboraDebora, eine Prophetin, das Weib LappidothsLappidoths, richtete IsraelIsrael in selbiger ZeitZeit.4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, judged Israel at that time.
5 Und sie wohnte1 unter der Debora-Palme zwischen RamaRama und BethelBethel, auf dem Gebirge EphraimGebirge Ephraim; und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael gingen zu ihr hinauf zu GerichtGericht.5 And she dwelt under the palm-tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim; and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6 Und sie sandte hin und ließ BarakBarak, den SohnSohn AbinoamsAbinoams, von Kedes-NaphtaliKedes-Naphtali, rufen; und sie sprach zu ihm: Hat nicht JehovaJehova, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, geboten: Gehe hin und ziehe auf den BergBerg TaborTabor, und nimm mit dir zehntausend MannMann von den KindernKindern NaphtaliNaphtali und von den KindernKindern SebulonSebulon;6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-Naphtali, and said to him, Hath not Jehovah the God of Israel commanded? Go and draw towards mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun,
7 und ich werde SiseraSisera, den Heerobersten JabinsJabins, zu dir ziehen an den BachBach KisonKison samt seinen WagenWagen und seiner Menge, und ich werde ihn in deine Hand geben?7 and I will draw unto thee, to the torrent Kishon, Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, and his chariots and his multitude, and I will give him into thy hand.
8 Und BarakBarak sprach zu ihr: Wenn du mit mir gehst, so gehe ich; wenn du aber nicht mit mir gehst, so gehe ich nicht.8 And Barak said to her, If thou goest with me, then I will go, but if thou goest not with me, I will not go.
9 Da sprach sie: Ich will wohl mit dir gehen; nur daß die Ehre nicht dein sein wird auf dem Wege, den du gehst, denn in die Hand eines Weibes wird JehovaJehova den SiseraSisera verkaufen. Und DeboraDebora machte sich auf und ging mit BarakBarak nach KedesKedes.9 And she said, I will by all means go with thee, only that it will not be to thine honour upon the way which thou goest, for Jehovah will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 Und BarakBarak berief SebulonSebulon und NaphtaliNaphtali nach KedesKedes; und zehntausend MannMann zogen in seinem Gefolge hinauf; auch DeboraDebora zog mit ihm hinauf.10 And Barak called together Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and there went up at his feet ten thousand men; and Deborah went up with him.
11 (HeberHeber aber, der KeniterKeniter, hatte sich von den Kenitern2, den KindernKindern HobabsHobabs, des Schwagers3 MosesMoses, getrennt; und er hatte seine ZelteZelte aufgeschlagen bis an die TerebintheTerebinthe zu ZaanannimZaanannim, das neben KedesKedes liegt.)11 (Now Heber the Kenite had severed himself from the Kenites, from the children of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far as the oak of Zaannaim, which is by Kedesh.)
12 Und man berichtete dem SiseraSisera, daß BarakBarak, der SohnSohn AbinoamsAbinoams, auf den BergBerg TaborTabor hinaufgezogen wäre.12 And they told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to mount Tabor.
13 Da berief SiseraSisera alle seine WagenWagen, neunhundert eiserne WagenWagen, und alles Volk, das mit ihm war, von Haroscheth-GojimHaroscheth-Gojim an den BachBach KisonKison.13 Then Sisera gathered together all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth-Goim to the torrent Kishon.
14 Und DeboraDebora sprach zu BarakBarak: Mache dich auf! denn dies ist der TagTag, da JehovaJehova den SiseraSisera in deine Hand gegeben hat. Ist nicht JehovaJehova ausgezogen vor dir her? Und BarakBarak stieg von dem BergeBerge TaborTabor hinab, und zehntausend MannMann ihm nach.14 And Deborah said to Barak, Up; for this is the day in which Jehovah hath given Sisera into thy hand! Is not Jehovah gone out before thee? And Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15 Und JehovaJehova verwirrte SiseraSisera und alle seine WagenWagen und das ganze Heerlager durch die Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes vor BarakBarak her; und SiseraSisera stieg von dem WagenWagen herab und floh zu Fuß.15 And Jehovah discomfited Sisera, and all the chariots, and all the army, with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera got down from his chariot, and fled on foot.
16 BarakBarak aber jagte den WagenWagen und dem Heere nach bis Haroscheth-GojimHaroscheth-Gojim; und das ganze Heer SiserasSiseras fiel durch die Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes: es blieb auch nicht einer übrig.16 And Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the army, to Harosheth-Goim; and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not one was left.
17 Und SiseraSisera floh zu Fuß in das ZeltZelt JaelsJaels, des Weibes HebersHebers, des KenitersKeniters; denn es war FriedeFriede zwischen JabinJabin, dem König von HazorHazor, und dem HauseHause HebersHebers, des KenitersKeniters.17 And Sisera fled on foot to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18 Da ging JaelJael hinaus, dem SiseraSisera entgegen; und sie sprach zu ihm: Kehre ein, mein HerrHerr, kehre ein zu mir, fürchte dich nicht! Und er kehrte ein zu ihr in das ZeltZelt, und sie bedeckte ihn mit einer DeckeDecke.18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And he turned in to her, into the tent, and she covered him with the quilt.
19 Und er sprach zu ihr: Laß mich doch ein wenig Wasser trinken, denn mich dürstet. Und sie öffnete den Milchschlauch und ließ ihn trinken, und sie deckte ihn zu.19 And he said to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink, for I am thirsty. And she opened the flask of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.
20 Und er sprach zu ihr: Stelle dich an den Eingang des ZeltesZeltes; und es geschehe, wenn jemand kommt und dich fragt und spricht: Ist jemand hier? so sage: Niemand.20 And he said to her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be if any one come and inquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.
21 Und JaelJael, das Weib HebersHebers, nahm einen Zeltpflock und faßte den Hammer in ihre Hand, und sie kam leise zu ihm und schlug den Pflock durch seine Schläfe, daß er in die ErdeErde drang. Er war nämlich in einen tiefen Schlaf gefallen und war ermattet, und er starb.21 And Jael Heber's wife took a tent-pin, and took the hammer in her hand, and went softly to him, and smote the pin into his temples, and it penetrated into the ground; for he had fallen into a deep sleep and was faint; and he died.
22 Und siehe, da kam BarakBarak, der SiseraSisera verfolgte; und JaelJael ging hinaus, ihm entgegen, und sprach zu ihm: Komm, ich will dir den MannMann zeigen, den du suchst! Und er ging zu ihr hinein, und siehe, SiseraSisera lag tot, und der Pflock war in seiner Schläfe.22 And behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael went out to meet him, and said to him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And he went into her tent , and behold, Sisera lay dead, and the pin was in his temples.
23 So beugte GottGott an selbigem TageTage JabinJabin, den König von KanaanKanaan, vor den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael.23 So God subdued on that day Jabin king of Canaan before the children of Israel.
24 Und die Hand der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael wurde fort und fort härter über JabinJabin, den König von KanaanKanaan, bis sie JabinJabin, den König von KanaanKanaan, vernichtet hatten.24 And the hand of the children of Israel ever advanced, and prevailed against Jabin king of Canaan, until they had cut off Jabin king of Canaan.
