1 Und es geschah nach dem TodeTode JosuasJosuas, da befragten die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael JehovaJehova und sprachen: Wer von uns soll zuerst wider die KanaaniterKanaaniter hinaufziehen, um wider sie zu streiten?1 And it came to pass after the death of Joshua that the children of Israel asked Jehovah, saying, Which of us shall go up against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?
2 Und JehovaJehova sprach: JudaJuda soll hinaufziehen; siehe, ich habe das Land in seine Hand gegeben.2 And Jehovah said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
3 Und JudaJuda sprach zu SimeonSimeon, seinem BruderBruder: Ziehe mit mir hinauf in mein Los, und laß uns wider die KanaaniterKanaaniter streiten, so will auch ich mit dir in dein Los ziehen. Und SimeonSimeon zog mit ihm.3 And Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, and let us fight against the Canaanites, and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot; and Simeon went with him.
4 Und JudaJuda zog hinauf, und JehovaJehova gab die KanaaniterKanaaniter und die PerisiterPerisiter in ihre Hand; und sie schlugen sie zu BesekBesek, zehntausend MannMann.4 And Judah went up; and Jehovah delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand, and they smote them in Bezek, ten thousand men.
5 Und sie fanden den Adoni-BesekAdoni-Besek in BesekBesek und stritten wider ihn; und sie schlugen die KanaaniterKanaaniter und die PerisiterPerisiter.5 And they found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fought against him, and they smote the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
6 Und Adoni-BesekAdoni-Besek floh; und sie jagten ihm nach und ergriffen ihn und hieben ihm die Daumen seiner Hände und seiner Füße ab.6 And Adoni-Bezek fled, and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
7 Da sprach Adoni-BesekAdoni-Besek: Siebenzig KönigeKönige, denen die Daumen ihrer Hände und ihrer Füße abgehauen waren, lasen auf unter meinem Tische; so wie ich getan habe, also hat GottGott mir vergolten. Und sie brachten ihn nach JerusalemJerusalem, und er starb daselbst.7 And Adoni-Bezek said, Seventy kings, with their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gleaned under my table: as I have done, so God has requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.
8 Und die KinderKinder JudaJuda stritten1 wider JerusalemJerusalem und nahmen es ein und schlugen es mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes, und die Stadt steckten sie in Brand.8 And the children of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
9 Und danach zogen die KinderKinder JudaJuda hinab, um wider die KanaaniterKanaaniter zu streiten, die das GebirgeGebirge und den SüdenSüden und die Niederung2 bewohnten.9 And afterwards the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the hill-country, and in the south, and in the lowland.
10 Und JudaJuda zog wider die KanaaniterKanaaniter, die in HebronHebron wohnten; der Name HebronsHebrons war aber vordem Kirjath-ArbaKirjath-Arba; und sie schlugen ScheschaiScheschai und AchimanAchiman und TalmaiTalmai.10 And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron--the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-Arba; and they slew Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.
11 Und er zog von dannen wider die Bewohner von DebirDebir; der Name von DebirDebir war aber vordem Kirjath-SepherKirjath-Sepher.11 And from there he went against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.
12 Und KalebKaleb sprach: Wer Kirjath-SepherKirjath-Sepher schlägt und es einnimmt, dem gebe ich meine TochterTochter AksaAksa zum Weibe.12 And Caleb said, He that smites Kirjath-sepher and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.
13 Da nahm es OthnielOthniel ein, der SohnSohn KenasKenas', der jüngere BruderBruder KalebsKalebs; und er gab ihm seine TochterTochter AksaAksa zum Weibe.13 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.
14 Und es geschah, als sie einzog, da trieb sie ihn an, ein Feld von ihrem VaterVater zu fordern. Und sie sprang von dem EselEsel herab. Und KalebKaleb sprach zu ihr: Was ist dir?14 And it came to pass as she came, that she urged him to ask of her father the field; and she sprang down from the ass. And Caleb said to her, What wouldest thou?
15 Und sie sprach zu ihm: Gib mir einen Segen; denn ein Mittagsland hast du mir gegeben, so gib mir auch Wasserquellen! Da gab ihr KalebKaleb die oberen Quellen und die unteren Quellen.315 And she said to him, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a southern land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
16 Und die KinderKinder des KenitersKeniters, des Schwagers4 MosesMoses, waren mit den KindernKindern JudaJuda aus der PalmenstadtPalmenstadt heraufgezogen in die WüsteWüste JudaJuda, die im SüdenSüden von AradArad liegt; und sie gingen hin und wohnten bei dem Volke.16 And the children of the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, had gone up out of the city of palm-trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt with the people.
17 Und JudaJuda zog mit seinem BruderBruder SimeonSimeon hin, und sie schlugen die KanaaniterKanaaniter, welche ZephatZephat bewohnten; und sie verbannten es und gaben der Stadt den NamenNamen Horma5.17 And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it; and they called the name of the city Hormah.
18 Und JudaJuda nahm GasaGasa ein und sein Gebiet, und AskalonAskalon und sein Gebiet, und EkronEkron und sein Gebiet.18 And Judah took Gazah and its border, and Ashkelon and its border, and Ekron and its border.
19 Und JehovaJehova war mit JudaJuda, und er nahm das GebirgeGebirge in Besitz; denn6 die Bewohner der Niederung trieb er nicht aus, weil sie eiserne WagenWagen hatten.19 And Jehovah was with Judah; and he took possession of the hill-country, for he did not dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
20 Und sie gaben dem KalebKaleb HebronHebron, so wie MoseMose geredet hatte; und er vertrieb daraus die drei Söhne EnaksEnaks.20 And they gave to Caleb Hebron, as Moses had said; and he dispossessed from thence the three sons of Anak.
21 Aber die KinderKinder BenjaminBenjamin trieben die JebusiterJebusiter, die Bewohner von JerusalemJerusalem, nicht aus; und die JebusiterJebusiter haben bei den KindernKindern BenjaminBenjamin in JerusalemJerusalem gewohnt bis auf diesen TagTag.21 And the children of Benjamin did not dispossess the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
22 Und das HausHaus JosephJoseph, auch sie zogen nach BethelBethel hinauf, und JehovaJehova war mit ihnen.22 And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel; and Jehovah was with them.
23 Und das HausHaus JosephJoseph ließ BethelBethel auskundschaften; vordem war aber LusLus der Name der Stadt.23 And the house of Joseph sent to search out Bethel; now the name of the city before was Luz.
24 Und die Wachen sahen einen MannMann aus der Stadt herauskommen, und sie sprachen zu ihm: Zeige uns doch den Zugang zu der Stadt, so werden wir dir Güte erweisen.24 And the guards saw a man come forth out of the city, and said unto him, Shew us, we pray thee, how we may enter into the city, and we will shew thee kindness.
25 Und er zeigte ihnen den Zugang zu der Stadt. Und sie schlugen die Stadt mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes, aber den MannMann und sein ganzes GeschlechtGeschlecht ließen sie gehen.25 And he shewed them how to enter into the city. And they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.
26 Und der MannMann zog in das Land der HethiterHethiter; und er baute eine Stadt und gab ihr den NamenNamen LusLus. Das ist ihr Name bis auf diesen TagTag.26 And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day.
27 Aber ManasseManasse trieb nicht aus Beth-ScheanBeth-Schean und seine TochterstädteTochterstädte, und TaanakTaanak und seine TochterstädteTochterstädte, und die Bewohner von DorDor und seine TochterstädteTochterstädte, und die Bewohner von JibleamJibleam und seine TochterstädteTochterstädte, und die Bewohner von MegiddoMegiddo und seine TochterstädteTochterstädte; und die KanaaniterKanaaniter wollten in diesem Lande bleiben.27 And Manasseh did not dispossess Beth-shean and its dependent villages, nor Taanach and its dependent villages, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its dependent villages, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its dependent villages, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its dependent villages; and the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
28 Und es geschah, als IsraelIsrael erstarkte, da machte es die KanaaniterKanaaniter fronpflichtig; aber es trieb sie keineswegs aus. -28 And it came to pass when Israel became strong, that they made the Canaanites tributary; but they did not utterly dispossess them.
29 Und EphraimEphraim trieb die KanaaniterKanaaniter nicht aus, die zu GeserGeser wohnten; und die KanaaniterKanaaniter wohnten in ihrer Mitte zu GeserGeser. -29 And Ephraim did not dispossess the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt among them in Gezer.
30 SebulonSebulon trieb nicht aus die Bewohner von KitronKitron und die Bewohner von NahalolNahalol; und die KanaaniterKanaaniter wohnten in ihrer Mitte und wurden fronpflichtig. -30 Zebulun did not dispossess the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
31 AserAser trieb nicht aus die Bewohner von AkkoAkko und die Bewohner von ZidonZidon und AchlabAchlab und AksibAksib und HelbaHelba und AphikAphik und RechobRechob;31 Asher did not dispossess the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor Ahlab, nor Achzib, nor Helbah, nor Aphik, nor Rehob;
32 und die AseriterAseriter wohnten inmitten der KanaaniterKanaaniter, der Bewohner des Landes, denn sie trieben sie nicht aus.32 and the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not dispossess them.
33 NaphtaliNaphtali trieb nicht aus die Bewohner von Beth-SemesBeth-Semes und die Bewohner von Beth-AnathBeth-Anath; und er wohnte inmitten der KanaaniterKanaaniter, der Bewohner des Landes; aber die Bewohner von Beth-SemesBeth-Semes und von Beth-AnathBeth-Anath wurden ihm fronpflichtig.33 Naphtali did not dispossess the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath; and he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, but the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became tributaries to them.
34 Und die AmoriterAmoriter drängten die KinderKinder DanDan ins GebirgeGebirge, denn sie gestatteten ihnen nicht, in die Niederung herabzukommen.34 And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the hill-country, for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley.
35 Und die AmoriterAmoriter wollten im GebirgeGebirge HeresHeres bleiben, in AjjalonAjjalon und in SchaalbimSchaalbim; aber die Hand des Hauses JosephJoseph war schwer, und sie wurden fronpflichtig.35 And the Amorites would dwell on mount Heres, in Ajalon and in Shaalbim; but the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, and they became tributaries.
36 Und die Grenze der AmoriterAmoriter war von der Anhöhe AkrabbimAkrabbim, von dem Felsen an und aufwärts7.36 And the border of the Amorites was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock, and upwards.
