15 Let not the flood of waters overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up; and let not the pit shut its mouth upon me.

17 Erhöre mich, Jehova! denn gut ist deine Güte; wende dich zu mir nach der Größe deiner Erbarmungen!

16 Answer me, O Jehovah; for thy loving-kindness is good: according to the abundance of thy tender mercies, turn toward me;

19 Nahe meiner Seele, erlöse sie; erlöse mich⁷ um meiner Feinde willen!

18 Draw nigh unto my soul, be its redeemer; ransom me because of mine enemies.

20 Du, du kennst meinen Hohn und meine Schmach und meine Schande; vor dir sind alle meine Bedränger.

19 Thou knowest my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

21 Der Hohn hat mein Herz gebrochen, und ich bin ganz elend; und ich habe auf Mitleiden gewartet, und da war keines, und auf Tröster, und ich habe keine gefunden.

20 Reproach hath broken my heart, and I am overwhelmed: and I looked for sympathy, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

22 Und sie gaben in⁸ meine Speise Galle⁹, und in meinem Durst tränkten sie mich mit Essig.

21 Yea, they gave me gall for my food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

23 Es werde zur Schlinge vor ihnen ihr Tisch, und ihnen, den Sorglosen, zum Fallstrick!

22 Let their table become a snare before them, and their very welfare a trap;

24 Laß dunkel werden ihre Augen, daß sie nicht sehen; und laß beständig wanken ihre Lenden!

23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not, and make their loins continually to shake.

25 Schütte über sie aus deinen Grimm, und deines Zornes Glut erreiche sie!

24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let the fierceness of thine anger take hold of them.

26 Verwüstet sei ihre Wohnung¹⁰, in ihren Zelten sei kein Bewohner!

25 Let their habitation be desolate; let there be no dweller in their tents.

27 Denn den du geschlagen hast haben sie verfolgt, und von dem Schmerze deiner Verwundeten erzählen sie.

26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten, and they talk for the sorrow of those whom thou hast wounded.

28 Füge Ungerechtigkeit zu ihrer Ungerechtigkeit, und laß sie nicht kommen zu¹¹ deiner Gerechtigkeit!

27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity, and let them not come into thy righteousness.

29 Laß sie ausgelöscht werden aus dem Buche des Lebens, und nicht eingeschrieben mit den Gerechten!

28 Let them be blotted out of the book of life, and not be written with the righteous.
