1 (Ein Psalm; von Asaph.)Der Mächtige¹, Gott, Jehova, hat geredet und die Erde gerufen vom Aufgang der Sonne bis zu ihrem Niedergang.

1 A Psalm. Of Asaph. *God, Elohim-Jehovah, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

2 Aus Zion, der Schönheit Vollendung, ist Gott hervorgestrahlt.

2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined forth.

3 Unser Gott kommt, und er wird nicht schweigen; Feuer frißt vor ihm her, und rings um ihn stürmt es gewaltig.

3 Our God will come, and will not keep silence: fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

4 Er ruft dem Himmel droben und der Erde, um sein Volk zu richten:

4 He will call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

5 „Versammelt mir meine Frommen, die meinen Bund geschlossen haben beim Opfer!“

5 Gather unto me my godly ones, those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice!

6 Und die Himmel verkünden seine Gerechtigkeit, denn Gott ist es, der richtet². (Sela.)

6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness; for God executeth judgment himself. Selah.

7 „Höre, mein Volk, und ich will reden, Israel, und ich will wider dich zeugen! Ich, ich bin Gott, dein Gott.

7 Hear, my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: I am God, thy God.

8 Nicht wegen deiner Schlachtopfer tadle ich dich, und deine Brandopfer sind beständig vor mir.

8 I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt-offerings, continually before me;

9 Nicht werde ich Farren nehmen aus deinem Hause, noch Böcke aus deinen Hürden.

9 I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he-goats out of thy folds:

10 Denn mein ist alles Getier des Waldes, das Vieh auf tausend Bergen.

10 For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle upon a thousand hills;

11 Ich kenne alles Gevögel der Berge, und das Wild³ des Gefildes ist mir bekannt.

11 I know all the fowl of the mountains, and the roaming creatures of the field are mine:

12 Wenn mich hungerte, ich würde es dir nicht sagen: denn mein ist der Erdkreis und seine Fülle.

12 If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.

13 Sollte ich das Fleisch von Stieren⁴ essen und das Blut von Böcken trinken?

13 Should I eat the flesh of bulls, and drink the blood of goats?

14 Opfere Gott Lob⁵, und bezahle dem Höchsten deine Gelübde;

14 Offer unto God thanksgiving, and perform thy vows unto the Most High;

15 Und rufe mich an am Tage der Bedrängnis: ich will dich erretten, und du wirst mich verherrlichen!“

15 And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

16 Zu dem Gesetzlosen aber spricht Gott: „Was hast du meine Satzungen herzusagen und meinen Bund in deinen Mund zu nehmen?

16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant into thy mouth,

17 Du hast ja die Zucht⁶ gehaßt und hinter dich geworfen meine Worte.

17 Seeing thou hast hated correction and hast cast my words behind thee?

18 Wenn du einen Dieb sahst, so gingst du gern mit ihm um, und dein Teil war mit Ehebrechern.

18 When thou sawest a thief, thou didst take pleasure in him, and thy portion was with adulterers;

19 Deinen Mund ließest du los zum Bösen, und Trug flocht deine Zunge.

19 Thou lettest thy mouth loose to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit;

20 Du saßest da, redetest wider deinen Bruder, wider den Sohn deiner Mutter stießest du Schmähung aus.

20 Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother, thou revilest thine own mother's son:

21 Solches hast du getan, und ich schwieg; du dachtest, ich sei ganz wie du. Ich werde dich strafen⁷ und es dir vor Augen stellen.“

22 Merket doch dieses, die ihr Gottes⁸ vergesset, damit ich nicht zerreiße, und kein Erretter sei da!
