1 Schaffe mir Recht, o Gott, und führe meinen Rechtsstreit wider eine¹ lieblose Nation²! Von dem Manne des Trugs und des Unrechts errette mich!

1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; deliver me from the deceitful and unrighteous man.

2 Denn du bist der Gott meiner Stärke³. Warum hast du mich verworfen? warum gehe ich trauernd einher wegen der Bedrückung des Feindes?

2 For thou art the God of my strength: why hast thou cast me off? why go I about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

3 Sende dein Licht und deine Wahrheit; sie sollen mich leiten, mich bringen zu deinem heiligen Berge und zu deinen Wohnungen.

3 Send out thy light and thy truth: they shall lead me, they shall bring me to thy holy mount, and unto thy habitations.

4 So werde ich kommen zum Altar Gottes, zu dem Gott⁴, der meine Jubelfreude ist, und werde dich preisen mit der Laute, Gott, mein Gott!
