1 Habet acht, daß ihr euer AlmosenAlmosen nicht gebet1 vor den Menschen, um von ihnen gesehen zu werden; wenn aber nicht, so habt ihr keinen LohnLohn bei eurem VaterVater, der in den Himmeln ist.1 Take heed not to do your alms before men to be seen of them, otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.
2 Wenn du nun AlmosenAlmosen gibst, sollst du nicht vor dir her posaunen lassen, wie die Heuchler tun in den Synagogen und auf den Straßen, damit sie von den Menschen geehrt werden. Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren LohnLohn dahin.2 When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 Du aber, wenn du AlmosenAlmosen gibst, so laß deine Linke nicht wissen, was deine Rechte tut;3 But thou, when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand does;
4 damit dein AlmosenAlmosen im Verborgenen sei, und dein VaterVater, der im Verborgenen sieht, wird dir vergelten.4 so that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render it to thee.
5 Und wenn du betest, sollst du nicht sein wie die Heuchler; denn sie lieben es, in den Synagogen und an den Ecken der Straßen stehend zu betenbeten, damit sie von den Menschen gesehen werden. Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren LohnLohn dahin.5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets so that they should appear to men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 Du aber, wenn du betest, so geh in deine Kammer und, nachdem du deine TürTür geschlossen hast, bete zu deinem VaterVater, der im Verborgenen ist, und dein VaterVater, der im Verborgenen sieht, wird dir vergelten.6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render it to thee.
7 Wenn ihr aber betetbetet, sollt ihr nicht plappern wie die von den NationenNationen; denn sie meinen, daß sie um ihres vielen Redens willen werden erhört werden.7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as those who are of the nations: for they think they shall be heard through their much speaking.
8 Seid ihnen nun nicht gleich; denn euer VaterVater weiß, was ihr bedürfet, ehe ihr ihn bittet.8 Be not ye therefore like them, for your Father knows of what things ye have need before ye beg anything of him.
9 Betet ihr nun also: Unser VaterVater, der du bist in den Himmeln, geheiligt werde dein Name;9 Thus therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in the heavens, let thy name be sanctified,
10 dein ReichReich komme; dein Wille geschehe, wie im HimmelHimmel also auch auf Erden.10 let thy kingdom come, let thy will be done as in heaven so upon the earth;
11 Unser nötiges BrotBrot2 gib uns heute;11 give us to-day our needed bread,
12 und vergibvergib uns unsere Schulden, wie auch wir unseren Schuldnern vergebenvergeben;12 and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors,
13 und führe uns nicht in VersuchungVersuchung, sondern errette uns von dem Bösen. -13 and lead us not into temptation, but save us from evil.
14 Denn wenn ihr den Menschen ihre Vergehungen vergebet, so wird euer himmlischer VaterVater auch euch vergebenvergeben;14 For if ye forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father also will forgive you yours ,
15 wenn ihr aber den Menschen ihre Vergehungen nicht vergebet, so wird euer VaterVater auch eure Vergehungen nicht vergebenvergeben.15 but if ye do not forgive men their offences, neither will your Father forgive your offences.
16 Wenn ihr aber fastetfastet, so sehet nicht düster aus wie die Heuchler; denn sie verstellen ihre Angesichter, damit sie den Menschen als Fastende erscheinen. Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren LohnLohn dahin.16 And when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17 Du aber, wenn du fastest, so salbe dein HauptHaupt und wasche dein Angesicht,17 But thou, when fasting, anoint thy head and wash thy face,
18 damit du nicht den Menschen als ein Fastender erscheinest, sondern deinem VaterVater, der im Verborgenen ist; und dein VaterVater, der im Verborgenen sieht, wird dir vergelten.18 so that thou mayest not appear fasting unto men, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who sees in secret shall render it to thee.
19 Sammelt euch nicht Schätze auf der ErdeErde, wo MotteMotte und RostRost zerstört, und wo DiebeDiebe durchgraben und stehlen;19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust spoils, and where thieves dig through and steal;
20 sammelt euch aber Schätze im HimmelHimmel, wo weder MotteMotte noch RostRost zerstört, und wo DiebeDiebe nicht durchgraben noch stehlen;20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust spoils, and where thieves do not dig through nor steal;
21 denn wo dein SchatzSchatz ist, da wird auch dein HerzHerz sein.21 for where thy treasure is, there will be also thy heart.
22 Die LampeLampe des Leibes ist das Auge; wenn nun dein Auge einfältig ist, so wird dein ganzer Leib licht sein;22 The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light:
23 wenn aber dein Auge böse ist, so wird dein ganzer Leib finster sein. Wenn nun das LichtLicht, das in dir ist, FinsternisFinsternis ist, wie groß die FinsternisFinsternis!23 but if thine eye be wicked, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great the darkness!
24 Niemand kann zwei Herren dienen; denn entweder wird er den einen hassen und den anderen lieben, oder er wird einem anhangen und den anderen verachten. Ihr könnet nicht GottGott dienen und dem MammonMammon.24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 Deshalb sage ich euch: Seid nicht besorgt für euer LebenLeben, was ihr essen und was ihr trinken sollt, noch für euren Leib, was ihr anziehen sollt. Ist nicht das LebenLeben mehr als die Speise, und der Leib mehr als die KleidungKleidung?25 For this cause I say unto you, Do not be careful about your life, what ye should eat and what ye should drink; nor for your body what ye should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?
26 Sehet hin auf die VögelVögel des HimmelsHimmels, daß sie nicht säen noch ernten, noch in Scheunen sammeln, und euer himmlischer VaterVater ernährt sie. Seid ihr nicht viel vorzüglicher als sie?26 Look at the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are ye not much more excellent than they?
27 Wer aber unter euch vermag mit Sorgen seiner Größe3 eine ElleElle zuzusetzen?27 But which of you by carefulness can add to his growth one cubit?
28 Und warum seid ihr um KleidungKleidung besorgt? Betrachtet die Lilien des Feldes, wie sie wachsen: sie mühen sich nicht, auch spinnen sie nicht.28 And why are ye careful about clothing? Observe with attention the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin;
29 Ich sage euch aber, daß selbst nicht SalomonSalomon in all seiner HerrlichkeitHerrlichkeit bekleidet war wie eine von diesen.29 but I say unto you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these.
30 Wenn aber GottGott das GrasGras des Feldes, das heute ist und morgen in den OfenOfen geworfen wird, also kleidet, nicht vielmehr euch, Kleingläubige?30 But if God so clothe the herbage of the field, which is to-day, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, will he not much rather you, O ye of little faith?
31 So seid nun nicht besorgt, indem ihr saget: Was sollen wir essen? oder: Was sollen wir trinken? oder: Was sollen wir anziehen?31 Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?
32 denn nach allem diesem trachten die NationenNationen; denn euer himmlischer VaterVater weiß, daß ihr dies alles bedürfet.32 for all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.
33 Trachtet aber zuerst nach dem ReicheReiche GottesGottes und nach seiner4 GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit, und dies alles wird euch hinzugefügt werden.33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 So seid nun nicht besorgt auf den morgenden TagTag, denn der morgende TagTag wird für sich selbst sorgen. Jeder TagTag hat an seinem Übel genug.534 Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day is its own evil.
