1 Und es geschah, als die ganze Nation vollends über den JordanJordan gezogen war, da sprach JehovaJehova zu JosuaJosua und sagte:1 And it came to pass when the whole nation had completely gone over the Jordan, that Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,
2 Nehmet euch aus dem Volke zwölf Männer, je einen MannMann aus einem Stamme,2 Take you twelve men out of the people, one man out of every tribe,
3 und gebietet ihnen und sprechet: Hebet euch auf von hier, aus der Mitte des JordanJordan, von dem Standorte, wo die Füße der PriesterPriester festgestanden haben, zwölf SteineSteine; und bringet sie mit euch hinüber und leget sie nieder in dem Nachtlager, wo ihr diese NachtNacht übernachten werdet.3 and command them, saying, Take up hence out of the midst of the Jordan, from the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place where ye shall lodge this night.
4 Und JosuaJosua rief die zwölf Männer, die er aus den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael bestellt hatte, je einen MannMann aus einem Stamme.4 And Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had appointed of the children of Israel, a man out of every tribe;
5 Und JosuaJosua sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hinüber, vor die LadeLade JehovasJehovas, eures GottesGottes, in die Mitte des JordanJordan, und hebet euch ein jeder einen Stein auf seine SchulterSchulter, nach der Zahl der StämmeStämme der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael,5 and Joshua said to them, Pass before the ark of Jehovah your God into the midst of the Jordan, and lift up each of you a stone and put it upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel,
6 damit dies ein ZeichenZeichen unter euch sei. Wenn eure KinderKinder künftig fragen und sprechen: Was bedeuten euch diese SteineSteine?6 that this may be a sign in your midst. When your children ask hereafter, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7 so sollt ihr zu ihnen sagen: daß1 die Wasser des JordanJordan vor der LadeLade des BundesBundes JehovasJehovas abgeschnitten wurden; als sie durch den JordanJordan ging, wurden die Wasser des JordanJordan abgeschnitten. Und diese SteineSteine sollen für die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael zum Gedächtnis sein ewiglich.7 then ye shall say to them, That the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; when it went through the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
8 Und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael taten also, wie JosuaJosua geboten hatte, und hoben zwölf SteineSteine auf aus der Mitte des JordanJordan, so wie JehovaJehova zu JosuaJosua geredet hatte, nach der Zahl der StämmeStämme der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael; und sie brachten sie mit sich in das Nachtlager hinüber und legten sie daselbst nieder.8 And the children of Israel did so, as Joshua had commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah had spoken to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them to the lodging-place, and laid them down there.
9 Und zwölf SteineSteine richtete JosuaJosua auf in der Mitte des JordanJordan, an der Stelle, wo die Füße der PriesterPriester gestanden hatten, welche die LadeLade des BundesBundes trugen; und sie sind daselbst bis auf diesen TagTag.9 And twelve stones did Joshua set up in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant had stood firm; and they are there to this day.
10 Und die PriesterPriester, welche die LadeLade trugen, blieben in der Mitte des JordanJordan stehen, bis alles vollendet war, was JehovaJehova dem JosuaJosua geboten hatte, zu dem Volke zu reden, nach allem was MoseMose dem JosuaJosua geboten hatte. Und das Volk eilte und zog hinüber.10 And the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until everything was finished that Jehovah had commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. And the people hasted and passed over.
11 Und es geschah, als das ganze Volk vollends hinübergezogen war, da zogen die LadeLade JehovasJehovas und die PriesterPriester angesichts des Volkes hinüber.11 And it came to pass, when all the people had completely gone over, that the ark of Jehovah went over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12 Und die KinderKinder RubenRuben und die KinderKinder GadGad und der halbe Stamm ManasseManasse zogen gerüstet vor den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael her, wie MoseMose zu ihnen geredet hatte.12 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh, went over in array before the children of Israel, as Moses had spoken to them.
13 Bei vierzigtausend zum Heere2 GerüsteteGerüstete zogen sie vor JehovaJehova her zum StreitStreit in die Ebenen von JerichoJericho.13 About forty thousand armed for military service passed over before Jehovah to the war, unto the plains of Jericho.
14 An selbigem TageTage machte JehovaJehova den JosuaJosua groß in den AugenAugen von ganz IsraelIsrael; und sie fürchteten ihn, wie sie MoseMose gefürchtet hatten, alle TageTage seines LebensLebens.14 On that day Jehovah magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they had feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15 Und JehovaJehova sprach zu JosuaJosua und sagte:15 And Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,
16 Gebiete den PriesternPriestern, welche die LadeLade des Zeugnisses tragen, daß sie aus dem JordanJordan heraufsteigen.16 Command the priests who bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan.
17 Und JosuaJosua gebot den PriesternPriestern und sprach: Steiget aus dem JordanJordan herauf!17 And Joshua commanded the priests, saying, Come up out of the Jordan.
18 Und es geschah, als die PriesterPriester, welche die LadeLade des BundesBundes JehovasJehovas trugen, aus der Mitte des JordanJordan heraufstiegen, als die Fußsohlen der PriesterPriester sich abgerissen hatten auf das Trockene, da kehrten die Wasser des JordanJordan an ihren Ort zurück, und sie flossen wie früher über alle seine Ufer.18 And it came to pass when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah had come up out of the midst of the Jordan, when the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up on to the dry land, that the waters of the Jordan returned to their place, and they flowed as previously, over all its banks.
19 Und das Volk stieg aus dem JordanJordan herauf am zehnten des ersten Monats; und sie lagerten sich in GilgalGilgal an der Ostgrenze von JerichoJericho.19 And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the eastern extremity of Jericho.
20 Und jene zwölf SteineSteine, die sie aus dem JordanJordan genommen hatten, richtete JosuaJosua zu GilgalGilgal auf.20 And those twelve stones which they had taken out of the Jordan did Joshua set up in Gilgal.
21 Und er sprach zu den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael und sagte: Wenn eure KinderKinder künftig ihre VäterVäter fragen und sprechen: Was bedeuten diese SteineSteine?21 And he spoke to the children of Israel, saying, When your children hereafter ask their fathers, saying, What mean these stones?
22 so sollt ihr es euren KindernKindern kundtun und sprechen: Auf trockenem Boden ist IsraelIsrael durch diesen JordanJordan gezogen.22 then ye shall let your children know, saying, On dry land did Israel come over this Jordan;
23 Denn JehovaJehova, euer GottGott, hat die Wasser des JordanJordan vor euch ausgetrocknet, bis ihr hinübergezogen waret, so wie JehovaJehova, euer GottGott, mit dem SchilfmeereSchilfmeere tat, das er vor uns austrocknete, bis wir hinübergezogen waren:23 because Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye had passed over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we had passed over;
24 damit alle Völker der ErdeErde die Hand JehovasJehovas erkännten, daß sie stark ist; damit ihr JehovaJehova, euren GottGott, fürchtet alle TageTage.24 that all peoples of the earth might know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty; that ye might fear Jehovah your God continually.
