1 Und es geschah, als JabinJabin, der König von HazorHazor, es hörte, sandte er zu JobabJobab, dem König von MadonMadon, und zu dem König von SchimronSchimron, und zu dem König von AkschaphAkschaph,1 And it came to pass when Jabin king of Hazor heard this , that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
2 und zu den Königen, die gegen NordenNorden waren im GebirgeGebirge, und in der Ebene1 südlich von KinnerothKinneroth, und in der Niederung und im Hügelgebiet von DorDor gegen WestenWesten,2 and to the kings that were northward in the mountains, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and on the upland of Dor on the west,
3 zu den KanaaniternKanaanitern gegen Osten2 und gegen WestenWesten, und zu den AmoriternAmoritern und den HethiternHethitern und den PerisiternPerisitern und den JebusiternJebusitern im GebirgeGebirge, und zu den HewiternHewitern am Fuße des HermonHermon im Lande MizpaMizpa.3 to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpah.
4 Und sie zogen aus, sie und alle ihre Heerlager mit ihnen, ein großes Volk, wie der Sand, der am Ufer des MeeresMeeres ist, an Menge, und sehr viele Rosse und WagenWagen.4 And they went out, they and all their armies with them, a people numerous as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
5 Und alle diese KönigeKönige trafen zusammen und kamen und lagerten sich miteinander am Wasser MeromWasser Merom, um mit IsraelIsrael zu streiten.5 And all these kings met together, and came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
6 Da sprach JehovaJehova zu JosuaJosua: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen; denn morgen um diese ZeitZeit will ich sie allesamt erschlagen vor IsraelIsrael dahingeben: ihre Rosse sollst du lähmen und ihre WagenWagen mit FeuerFeuer verbrennen.6 And Jehovah said to Joshua, Be not afraid because of them; for to-morrow about this time will I give them all up slain before Israel: their horses shalt thou hough, and thou shalt burn their chariots with fire.
7 Und JosuaJosua, und alles Kriegsvolk mit ihm, kam plötzlich über sie am Wasser MeromWasser Merom, und sie überfielen sie.7 And Joshua, and all the people of war with him, came upon them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell upon them.
8 Und JehovaJehova gab sie in die Hand IsraelsIsraels, und sie schlugen sie und jagten ihnen nach bis ZidonZidon, der großen Stadt, und bis Misrephot-MajimMisrephot-Majim, und bis in die Talebene von MizpeMizpe gegen OstenOsten; und sie schlugen sie, bis ihnen kein Entronnener übrigblieb.8 And Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and to Misrephoth-maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward, and smote them until none were left remaining to them.
9 Und JosuaJosua tat ihnen, so wie JehovaJehova ihm gesagt hatte: ihre Rosse lähmte er, und ihre WagenWagen verbrannte er mit FeuerFeuer.9 And Joshua did to them as Jehovah had said to him: he houghed their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.
10 Und JosuaJosua kehrte in selbiger ZeitZeit zurück und nahm HazorHazor ein, und seinen König erschlug er mit dem SchwerteSchwerte; denn HazorHazor war vordem die Hauptstadt aller dieser Königreiche.10 And Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword; for Hazor was in times past the head of all those kingdoms.
11 Und sie schlugen alle Seelen, die darin waren, mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes, indem sie sie verbannten: nichts blieb übrig was Odem hatte; und HazorHazor verbrannte er mit FeuerFeuer.11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, destroying them utterly: there was not any left to breathe; and he burned Hazor with fire.
12 Und alle Städte dieser KönigeKönige, samt allen ihren Königen, nahm JosuaJosua ein und schlug sie mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes, und verbannte sie, so wie MoseMose, der KnechtKnecht JehovasJehovas, geboten hatte.12 And all the cities of those kings and all their kings did Joshua take; and he smote them with the edge of the sword, destroying them utterly, as Moses the servant of Jehovah had commanded.
13 Nur alle die Städte, die auf ihren Hügeln standen3, verbrannte IsraelIsrael nicht; ausgenommen HazorHazor allein, das verbrannte JosuaJosua.13 Only, all the cities that stood still upon their hills Israel did not burn, save Hazor alone, which Joshua burned.
14 Und alle BeuteBeute dieser Städte und das ViehVieh plünderten die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael für sich; doch alle Menschen schlugen sie mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes, bis sie sie vertilgt hatten: sie ließen nichts übrig was Odem hatte.14 And all the spoil of these cities and the cattle the children of Israel took as prey to themselves; only, they smote all the men with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them: they left none that breathed.
15 Wie JehovaJehova MoseMose, seinem KnechteKnechte, geboten hatte, also gebot MoseMose JosuaJosua, und also tat JosuaJosua; er ließ nichts fehlen von allem was JehovaJehova dem MoseMose geboten hatte.15 As Jehovah had commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua: he let nothing fail of all that Jehovah had commanded Moses.
16 Und JosuaJosua nahm dieses ganze Land, das GebirgeGebirge und den ganzen SüdenSüden und das ganze Land GosenGosen und die Niederung und die EbeneEbene, und das GebirgeGebirge IsraelIsrael und seine Niederung,16 And Joshua took all that land, the mountain and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and its lowland;
17 von dem kahlen Gebirge4, das gegen SeirSeir aufsteigt, bis Baal-GadBaal-Gad in der Talebene des LibanonLibanon, am Fuße des BergesBerges HermonHermon; und alle ihre KönigeKönige ergriff er und erschlug sie und tötete sie.17 from the smooth mountain, which rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-Gad in the valley of Lebanon, at the foot of mount Hermon; and he took all their kings, and smote them, and put them to death.
18 Lange ZeitZeit führte JosuaJosua Krieg mit allen diesen Königen.18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
19 Es war keine Stadt, die sich den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael friedlich ergab, außer den HewiternHewitern, die zu GibeonGibeon wohnten; alles nahmen sie mit Krieg ein.19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites who dwelt at Gibeon; they took all in battle.
20 Denn von JehovaJehova war es, daß sie ihr HerzHerz verhärteten zum KriegeKriege mit IsraelIsrael, damit sie vertilgt5 würden, ohne daß ihnen GnadeGnade widerführe, sondern damit sie vertilgt würden, so wie JehovaJehova dem MoseMose geboten hatte.20 For it was of Jehovah that their heart was hardened, to meet Israel in battle, that they might be utterly destroyed, and that there might be no favour shewn to them, but that they might be destroyed, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
21 Und JosuaJosua kam in selbiger ZeitZeit und rottete die EnakimEnakim aus von dem GebirgeGebirge, von HebronHebron, von DebirDebir, von AnabAnab und von dem ganzen GebirgeGebirge JudaJuda und von dem ganzen GebirgeGebirge IsraelIsrael: mit ihren Städten verbannte sie JosuaJosua.21 And Joshua came at that time and cut off the Anakim from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountain of Judah, and from all the mountain of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly, with their cities.
22 Es blieben keine EnakimEnakim in dem Lande der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael übrig; nur zu GasaGasa, zu GathGath und zu AsdodAsdod blieben sie übrig.22 There were none of the Anakim left in the land of the children of Israel; only at Gazah, at Gath, and at Ashdod there remained.
23 Und so nahm JosuaJosua das ganze Land, nach allem was JehovaJehova zu MoseMose geredet hatte; und JosuaJosua gab es IsraelIsrael zum ErbteilErbteil, nach ihren AbteilungenAbteilungen, nach ihren Stämmen. Und das Land hatte RuheRuhe vom KriegeKriege.23 And Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Jehovah had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions, by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
