1 Höre, IsraelIsrael! du gehst heute über den JordanJordan, um hineinzukommen, NationenNationen in Besitz zu nehmen, größer und stärker als du, Städte, groß und befestigtbefestigt bis an den HimmelHimmel,1 Hear, Israel! Thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to enter in to possess nations greater and mightier than thou, cities great and walled up to heaven,
2 ein großes und hohes Volk, die Söhne der EnakimEnakim, die du ja kennst, und von denen du ja gehört hast: Wer kann vor den KindernKindern EnaksEnaks bestehen?2 a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say , Who can stand before the sons of Anak!
3 So wisse heute, daß JehovaJehova, dein GottGott, es ist, der vor dir her hinübergeht, ein verzehrendes FeuerFeuer; er wird sie vertilgen, und er wird sie vor dir beugen; und du wirst sie austreiben und sie schnell vernichten, so wie JehovaJehova zu dir geredet hat.3 Know then this day, that Jehovah thy God is he that goeth over before thee, a consuming fire; he will destroy them, and he will cast them down before thee, and thou shalt dispossess them and cause them to perish quickly, as Jehovah hath said unto thee.
4 Sprich nicht in deinem Herzen, wenn JehovaJehova, dein GottGott, sie vor dir ausstößt: Um meiner GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit willen hat JehovaJehova mich hierher gebracht, um dieses Land in Besitz zu nehmen; denn um der GesetzlosigkeitGesetzlosigkeit dieser NationenNationen willen treibt JehovaJehova sie vor dir aus.4 Thou shalt not say in thy heart, when Jehovah thy God thrusteth them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah hath brought me in to possess this land; but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah dispossess them from before thee.
5 Nicht um deiner GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit und der Geradheit deines Herzens willen kommst du hinein, um ihr Land in Besitz zu nehmen; sondern um der GesetzlosigkeitGesetzlosigkeit dieser NationenNationen willen treibt JehovaJehova, dein GottGott, sie vor dir aus, und damit er das WortWort aufrecht halte, welches JehovaJehova deinen VäternVätern, AbrahamAbraham, IsaakIsaak und JakobJakob, geschworen hat.5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou enter in to possess their land, but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah thy God dispossess them from before thee, and that he may perform the word which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
6 So wisse denn, daß nicht um deiner GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit willen JehovaJehova, dein GottGott, dir dieses gute Land gibt, es zu besitzen; denn ein hartnäckiges Volk bist du.6 Know therefore that Jehovah thy God doth not give thee this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiff-necked people.
7 Gedenke, vergiß nicht, wie du JehovaJehova, deinen GottGott, in der WüsteWüste erzürnt hast! Von dem TageTage an, da du aus dem Lande Ägypten herausgezogen bist, bis ihr an diesen Ort kamet, seid ihr widerspenstig gegen JehovaJehova gewesen.7 Remember, forget not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came to this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah.
8 Und am HorebHoreb erzürntet ihr JehovaJehova; und JehovaJehova ergrimmte über euch, so daß er euch vertilgen wollte.8 And at Horeb ye provoked Jehovah to wrath, and Jehovah was angry with you, to destroy you,
9 Als ich auf den BergBerg stieg, um die steinernen Tafeln zu empfangen, die Tafeln des BundesBundes, den JehovaJehova mit euch gemacht hatte, da blieb ich auf dem BergeBerge vierzig TageTage und vierzig Nächte, - BrotBrot aß ich nicht, und Wasser trank ich nicht -9 when I went up the mountain to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which Jehovah made with you, and I abode in the mountain forty days and forty nights, --I ate no bread and drank no water, --
10 und JehovaJehova gab mir die zwei steinernen Tafeln, beschrieben mit dem Finger GottesGottes; und auf ihnen standen alle die Worte1, welche JehovaJehova auf dem BergeBerge mit euch geredet hatte, mitten aus dem FeuerFeuer, am TageTage der VersammlungVersammlung.10 --and Jehovah delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words which Jehovah spoke with you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.
11 Und es geschah am Ende von vierzig Tagen und vierzig Nächten, da gab mir JehovaJehova die zwei steinernen Tafeln, die Tafeln des BundesBundes.11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.
12 Und JehovaJehova sprach zu mir: Mache dich auf, steige eilends von hier hinab! denn dein Volk, das du aus Ägypten herausgeführt hast, hat sich verderbt. Sie sind schnell von dem Wege abgewichen, den ich ihnen geboten habe; sie haben sich ein gegossenes BildBild gemacht.12 And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, go down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them: they have made for themselves a molten image.
13 Und JehovaJehova sprach zu mir und sagte: Ich habe dieses Volk gesehen, und siehe, es ist ein hartnäckiges Volk.13 And Jehovah spoke unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.
14 Laß ab von mir, daß ich sie vertilge und ihren NamenNamen unter dem HimmelHimmel auslösche; und ich will dich zu einer Nation machen, stärker und größer als sie.14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 Und ich wandte mich und stieg von dem BergeBerge herab, (und der BergBerg brannte mit FeuerFeuer) und die zwei Tafeln des BundesBundes waren auf meinen beiden Händen.15 And I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire; and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
16 Und ich sah, und siehe, ihr hattet gegen JehovaJehova, euren GottGott, gesündigt; ihr hattet euch ein gegossenes KalbKalb gemacht; ihr waret schnell von dem Wege abgewichen, den JehovaJehova euch geboten hatte.16 And I saw, and behold, ye had sinned against Jehovah your God: ye had made for yourselves a molten calf; ye had quickly turned aside from the way which Jehovah had commanded you.
17 Und ich faßte die beiden Tafeln und warf sie aus meinen beiden Händen und zerbrach sie vor euren AugenAugen.17 And I seized the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
18 Und ich warf mich vor JehovaJehova nieder, wie zuerst, vierzig TageTage und vierzig Nächte, - BrotBrot aß ich nicht, und Wasser trank ich nicht - um all eurer Sünden willen, die ihr begangen hattet, indem ihr tatet was übel war in den AugenAugen JehovasJehovas, ihn zu reizen.18 And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights, --I ate no bread and drank no water, --because of all your sin which ye had sinned, in doing what is evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.
19 Denn mir war bange vor dem ZornZorn und dem Grimm, womit JehovaJehova über euch ergrimmt war, so daß er euch vertilgen wollte. Und JehovaJehova erhörte mich auch dieses Mal.19 For I was afraid of the anger and fury wherewith Jehovah was wroth against you to destroy you. And Jehovah listened unto me also at that time.
20 Auch über AaronAaron zürnte JehovaJehova sehr, so daß er ihn vertilgen wollte; und ich bat auch für AaronAaron in selbiger ZeitZeit.20 And with Aaron Jehovah was very angry to destroy him; and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
21 Und ich nahm eure SündeSünde, das KalbKalb, das ihr gemacht hattet, und verbrannte es mit FeuerFeuer, und ich zerstieß es, indem ich es wohl zermalmte, bis es zu feinem StaubeStaube ward; und ich warf seinen StaubStaub in den BachBach, der von dem BergeBerge herabfließt. -21 And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burned it with fire, and crushed it, and ground it very small, until it became fine dust; and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that flowed down from the mountain.
22 Und zu TabheraTabhera und zu MassaMassa und zu Kibroth-HattaawaKibroth-Hattaawa erzürntet ihr JehovaJehova. -22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath.
23 Und als JehovaJehova euch aus Kades-BarneaKades-Barnea sandte und sprach: Ziehet hinauf und nehmet das Land in Besitz, das ich euch gegeben habe, da waret ihr widerspenstig gegen den Befehl JehovasJehovas, eures GottesGottes, und ihr glaubtet ihm nicht und gehorchtet seiner Stimme nicht.23 And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and take possession of the land which I have given you, ye rebelled against the word of Jehovah your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
24 Widerspenstige seid ihr gegen JehovaJehova gewesen von dem TageTage an, da ich euch gekannt habe.24 Ye have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you.
25 Und ich warf mich vor JehovaJehova nieder, die vierzig TageTage und die vierzig Nächte, die ich mich niederwarf; denn JehovaJehova hatte gesagt, daß er euch vertilgen wolle;25 So I fell down before Jehovah the forty days and forty nights, as I fell down; for Jehovah had said he would destroy you.
26 und ich betetebetete zu JehovaJehova und sprach: HerrHerr, JehovaJehova! verdirb nicht dein Volk und dein ErbteilErbteil, das du durch deine Größe erlöst, das du mit starker Hand aus Ägypten herausgeführt hast.26 I prayed therefore to Jehovah, and said, Lord Jehovah, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a powerful hand.
27 Gedenke deiner KnechteKnechte, AbrahamsAbrahams, IsaaksIsaaks und JakobsJakobs; kehre dich nicht an die Härtigkeit dieses Volkes und an seine GesetzlosigkeitGesetzlosigkeit und an seine SündeSünde,27 Remember thy servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not at the stubbornness of this people, nor at their wickedness, nor at their sin;
28 damit das Land, aus welchem du uns herausgeführt hast, nicht sage: Weil JehovaJehova nicht imstande war, sie in das Land zu bringen, wovon er zu ihnen geredet hatte, und weil er sie haßte, hat er sie herausgeführt, um sie in der WüsteWüste sterben zu lassen.28 lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he had promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.
29 Sie sind ja dein Volk und dein ErbteilErbteil, das du herausgeführt hast mit deiner großen KraftKraft und mit deinem ausgestreckten ArmeArme.29 They are indeed thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out with thy great power and with thy stretched-out arm.
