1 And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite; and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, Israel.

2 Da zogen alle Männer von Israel von David hinweg, Scheba, dem Sohne Bikris, nach. Die Männer von Juda aber hingen ihrem König an, vom Jordan bis Jerusalem.

2 Then all the men of Israel went up from after David, following Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah clave to their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.

3 Und David kam nach seinem Hause, nach Jerusalem. Und der König nahm die zehn Kebsweiber, die er zurückgelassen hatte, um das Haus zu bewahren, und tat sie in Gewahrsam¹ und versorgte sie; er ging aber nicht zu ihnen ein; und sie waren eingeschlossen bis zum Tage ihres Todes, als Witwen lebend.

5 Und Amasa ging hin, Juda zu berufen; aber er verzog über die bestimmte Zeit, die er ihm bestimmt hatte.

5 So Amasa went to call together the men of Judah; but he delayed longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

6 Da sprach David zu Abisai: Nun wird uns Scheba, der Sohn Bikris, mehr Übles tun als Absalom. Nimm du die Knechte deines Herrn und jage ihm nach, ob er nicht feste Städte für sich gefunden und sich unseren Augen entzogen hat.
