1 Und es geschah hernach, da schaffte sich AbsalomAbsalom WagenWagen und Rosse an, und fünfzig MannMann, die vor ihm herliefen.1 And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared for himself chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
2 Und AbsalomAbsalom machte sich früh auf und stellte sich an die Seite des Torweges; und es geschah: jedermann, der einen Rechtsstreit hatte, um zu dem König zu GerichtGericht zu kommen, dem rief AbsalomAbsalom zu und sprach: Aus welcher Stadt bist du? Und sprach er: Dein KnechtKnecht ist aus einem der StämmeStämme IsraelsIsraels,2 And Absalom rose early, and stood beside the way of the gate; and it was so, that when any man who had a controversy had to come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
3 so sprach AbsalomAbsalom zu ihm: Siehe, deine Sachen sind gut und recht; aber du hast von seiten des Königs niemand, der sie anhörte.3 And Absalom said to him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man to hear thee appointed by the king.
4 Und AbsalomAbsalom sprach: Wer mich doch zum RichterRichter setzte im Lande, daß jedermann zu mir käme, der einen Rechtsstreit und Rechtshandel hat, und ich würde ihm zu seinem Recht verhelfen!4 And Absalom said, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any controversy and cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!
5 Und es geschah, wenn jemand ihm nahte, um sich vor ihm niederzubeugen, so streckte er seine Hand aus und ergriff ihn und küßte ihn.5 And it was so, that when any man came near to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him.
6 Und AbsalomAbsalom tat auf solche WeiseWeise allen Israeliten, die zu dem König zu GerichtGericht kamen; und so stahl AbsalomAbsalom das HerzHerz der Männer von IsraelIsrael.6 And in this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment; and Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
7 Und es geschah am Ende von vierzig1 Jahren, da sprach AbsalomAbsalom zu dem König: Laß mich doch hingehen und zu HebronHebron mein GelübdeGelübde erfüllen, das ich JehovaJehova gelobt habe;7 And it came to pass at the end of forty years, that Absalom said to the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay in Hebron my vow which I have vowed to Jehovah.
8 denn als ich zu GesurGesur in SyrienSyrien wohnte, tat dein KnechtKnecht ein GelübdeGelübde und sprach: Wenn JehovaJehova mich wirklich nach JerusalemJerusalem zurückbringt, so will ich JehovaJehova dienen.8 For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode in Geshur in Syria, saying, If Jehovah shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, then I will serve Jehovah.
9 Und der König sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin in Frieden! Und er machte sich auf und ging nach HebronHebron.9 And the king said to him, Go in peace. And he rose up and went to Hebron.
10 Und AbsalomAbsalom sandte KundschafterKundschafter in alle StämmeStämme IsraelsIsraels und ließ sagen: Sobald ihr den Schall der Posaune höret, so sprechet: AbsalomAbsalom ist König geworden zu HebronHebron!10 And Absalom sent emissaries into all the tribes of Israel, saying, When ye hear the sound of the trumpet, ye shall say, Absalom reigns in Hebron.
11 Und mit AbsalomAbsalom gingen zweihundert MannMann aus JerusalemJerusalem; sie waren geladen worden2 und gingen in ihrer Einfalt; und sie wußten um nichts.11 And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, that were invited; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew nothing.
12 Und AbsalomAbsalom entbot AhitophelAhitophel, den GiloniterGiloniter, den RatRat DavidsDavids, aus seiner Stadt, aus GiloGilo, während er die OpferOpfer schlachtete. Und die Verschwörung wurde stark, und das Volk mehrte sich fort und fort bei AbsalomAbsalom.12 And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counsellor, from his city, from Giloh, while he offered the sacrifices. And the conspiracy gathered strength; and the people increased continually with Absalom.
13 Und es kam einer zu DavidDavid, der ihm berichtete und sprach: Das HerzHerz der Männer von IsraelIsrael hat sich AbsalomAbsalom zugewandt3.13 And there came one to David who reported saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.
14 Da sprach DavidDavid zu allen seinen Knechten, die in JerusalemJerusalem bei ihm waren: Machet euch auf und laßt uns fliehen; denn sonst wird es kein Entrinnen für uns geben vor AbsalomAbsalom. Eilet, hinwegzugehen, daß er nicht eilends uns erreiche und das Unglück über uns treibe und die Stadt schlage mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes!14 And David said to all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Rise up and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom. Be quick to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.
15 Und die KnechteKnechte des Königs sprachen zu dem König: Nach allem, was mein HerrHerr, der König, zu tun erwählen wird, siehe hier, deine KnechteKnechte!15 And the king's servants said to the king, Behold, thy servants will do whatever my lord the king shall choose.
16 Und der König zog hinaus, und sein ganzes HausHaus in seinem Gefolge; und der König ließ zehn Kebsweiber zurück, um das HausHaus zu bewahren.16 And the king went forth, and all his household after him, and the king left ten women, concubines, to keep the house.
17 So zog der König hinaus, und alles Volk in seinem Gefolge, und sie machten Halt bei dem entfernten Hause4.17 And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and stayed at the remote house.
18 Und alle seine KnechteKnechte zogen an seiner Seite hinüber; und alle KerethiterKerethiter und alle Pelethiter5, und alle GathiterGathiter, sechshundert MannMann, die in seinem Gefolge von GathGath gekommen waren, zogen vor dem König hinüber.18 And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men that came after him from Gath, passed over before the king.
19 Da sprach der König zu IttaiIttai, dem GathiterGathiter: Warum willst auch du mit uns gehen? Kehre um und bleibe bei dem König; denn du bist ein FremderFremder, und sogar in deinen Ort eingewandert.19 And the king said to Ittai the Gittite, Why dost thou also go with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king; for thou art a foreigner, and besides, thou hast emigrated to the place where thou dwellest .
20 GesternGestern bist du gekommen, und heute sollte ich dich mit uns umherirren lassen? Ich aber gehe, wohin ich gehe. Kehre um und führe deine BrüderBrüder zurück; Güte und WahrheitWahrheit seien mit dir!20 Thou didst come yesterday, and should I this day make thee go up and down with us, seeing I go whither I can? Return and take back thy brethren. Mercy and truth be with thee!
21 Aber IttaiIttai antwortete dem König und sprach: So wahr JehovaJehova lebt und mein HerrHerr König lebt, an dem Orte, wo mein HerrHerr, der König, sein wird, sei es zum TodeTode, sei es zum LebenLeben, daselbst wird auch dein KnechtKnecht sein!21 And Ittai answered the king and said, As Jehovah liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.
22 Da sprach DavidDavid zu IttaiIttai: Komm und ziehe hinüber! Und IttaiIttai, der GathiterGathiter, zog hinüber mit allen seinen Männern und allen KindernKindern, die bei ihm waren.22 And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.
23 Und das ganze Land weinte mit lauter Stimme, und alles Volk ging hinüber. Und der König ging über den BachBach KidronKidron; und alles Volk zog hinüber nach dem Wege zur WüsteWüste hin.23 And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over; the king also himself passed over the torrent Kidron, and all the people passed over, towards the way of the wilderness.
24 Und siehe, auch Zadok6 war da und alle LevitenLeviten mit ihm, die LadeLade des BundesBundes GottesGottes tragend; und sie stellten die LadeLade GottesGottes hin, und Abjathar7 ging hinauf, bis alles Volk aus der Stadt vollends hinübergegangen war.24 And behold, Zadok also, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had passed completely out of the city.
25 Und der König sprach zu ZadokZadok: Bringe die LadeLade GottesGottes in die Stadt zurück. Wenn ich GnadeGnade finde in den AugenAugen JehovasJehovas, so wird er mich zurückbringen, und mich sie und seine Wohnung sehen lassen.25 And the king said to Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city. If I shall find favour in the eyes of Jehovah, he will bring me again, and shew me it, and its habitation.
26 Wenn er aber also spricht: Ich habe kein Gefallen an dir - hier bin ich, mag er mit mir tun, wie es gut ist in seinen AugenAugen.26 But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good to him.
27 Und der König sprach zu ZadokZadok, dem PriesterPriester: Bist du nicht der SeherSeher? Kehre in die Stadt zurück in Frieden, und AchimaazAchimaaz, dein SohnSohn, und JonathanJonathan, der SohnSohn AbjatharsAbjathars, eure beiden Söhne, mit euch.27 And the king said to Zadok the priest, Thou art the seer: return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28 Sehet, ich will in den Ebenen8 der WüsteWüste verziehen, bis ein WortWort von euch kommt, mir Kunde zu geben.28 See, I will stop in the plains of the desert, until there come word from you to inform me.
29 Und ZadokZadok und AbjatharAbjathar brachten die LadeLade GottesGottes nach JerusalemJerusalem zurück, und sie blieben daselbst.29 And Zadok and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem; and they abode there.
30 DavidDavid aber ging die Anhöhe der Olivenbäume hinauf und weinte, während er hinaufging; und sein HauptHaupt war verhüllt, und er ging barfuß; und alles Volk, das bei ihm war, hatte ein jeder sein HauptHaupt verhüllt und ging unter Weinen hinauf.30 But David went up by the ascent of the Olives, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot; and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
31 Und man berichtete DavidDavid und sprach: AhitophelAhitophel ist unter den Verschworenen mit AbsalomAbsalom. Da sprach DavidDavid: Betöre doch den RatRat AhitophelsAhitophels, JehovaJehova!31 And one told David saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. Then said David, Jehovah, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
32 Und es geschah, als DavidDavid auf den Gipfel gekommen war, wo er9 GottGott anzubeten pflegte, siehe, da kam ihm HusaiHusai, der ArkiterArkiter, entgegen mit zerrissenem Leibrock und ErdeErde auf seinem HaupteHaupte.32 And it came to pass, when David had come to the summit, where he worshipped God, that behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head.
33 Und DavidDavid sprach zu ihm: Wenn du mit mir weiter gehst, so wirst du mir zur LastLast sein.33 And David said to him, If thou passest on with me, thou wilt be a burden to me;
34 Wenn du aber in die Stadt zurückkehrst und zu AbsalomAbsalom sagst: Dein KnechtKnecht, o König, will ich sein; wie ich von jeher der KnechtKnecht deines VatersVaters gewesen bin, so will ich jetzt dein KnechtKnecht sein: so wirst du mir den RatRat AhitophelsAhitophels zunichte machen.34 but if thou return to the city, and say to Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so now will I be thy servant; then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.
35 Und sind nicht ZadokZadok und AbjatharAbjathar, die PriesterPriester, dort bei dir? Und es soll geschehen, jede Sache, die du aus dem HauseHause des Königs hören wirst, sollst du ZadokZadok und AbjatharAbjathar, den PriesternPriestern, kundtun.35 And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? and it shall be, that whatsoever thing thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
36 Siehe, ihre beiden Söhne sind daselbst bei ihnen, AchimaazAchimaaz, des ZadokZadok, und JonathanJonathan, des AbjatharAbjathar SohnSohn; so entbietet mir durch sie jede Sache, die ihr hören werdet.36 Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz Zadok's son , and Jonathan Abiathar's son; and by them ye shall send to me everything that ye shall hear.
37 Da begab sich HusaiHusai, der Freund DavidsDavids, in die Stadt; AbsalomAbsalom aber zog in JerusalemJerusalem ein.37 And Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
