1 Und danach gingen MoseMose und AaronAaron hinein und sprachen zu dem PharaoPharao: So spricht JehovaJehova, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels: Laß mein Volk ziehen, daß sie mir ein Fest halten in der WüsteWüste!1 And afterwards Moses and Aaron went in, and said to Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Let my people go that they may celebrate a feast to me in the wilderness.
2 Da sprach der PharaoPharao: Wer ist JehovaJehova, auf dessen Stimme ich1 hören soll, IsraelIsrael ziehen zu lassen? Ich kenne JehovaJehova nicht, und auch werde ich IsraelIsrael nicht ziehen lassen.2 And Pharaoh said, Who is Jehovah, to whose voice I am to hearken to let Israel go? I do not know Jehovah, neither will I let Israel go.
3 Und sie sprachen: Der GottGott der HebräerHebräer ist uns begegnet. Laß uns doch drei Tagereisen weit in die WüsteWüste ziehen und JehovaJehova, unserem GottGott, opfern, daß er uns nicht schlage mit der PestPest oder mit dem SchwerteSchwerte.3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews has met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Jehovah our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence or with sword.
4 Und der König von Ägypten sprach zu ihnen: Warum, MoseMose und AaronAaron, wollt ihr das Volk von seinen Arbeiten losmachen? Gehet an eure Lastarbeiten!4 And the king of Egypt said to them, Why do ye, Moses and Aaron, wish to have the people go off from their works? Away, to your burdens!
5 Und der PharaoPharao sprach: Siehe, das Volk des Landes ist nun zahlreich, und ihr wollt sie von ihren Lastarbeiten feiern lassen!5 And Pharaoh said, Behold the people of the land are now many, and ye wish to make them rest from their burdens.
6 Und der PharaoPharao befahl selbigen TagesTages den Treibern des Volkes und seinen VorstehernVorstehern und sprach:6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7 Ihr sollt nicht mehr, wie früher, dem Volke StrohStroh geben, um ZiegelZiegel zu streichen; sie sollen selbst hingehen und sich StrohStroh sammeln.7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8 Und die Anzahl ZiegelZiegel, die sie früher gemacht haben, sollt ihr ihnen auflegen; ihr sollt nichts daran mindern, denn sie sind träge; darum schreien sie und sprechen: Wir wollen hinziehen, wir wollen unserem GottGott opfern!8 And the number of the bricks they have made heretofore shall ye lay upon them: ye shall not diminish any of it, for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
9 Schwer laste der Dienst auf den Männern, daß sie damit zu schaffen haben und nicht achten auf WorteWorte des Trugs.9 Let them put heavier labour on the men, that they may be taken up with it, and not regard vain words.
10 Und die Treiber des Volkes und seine VorsteherVorsteher gingen hinaus und redeten zu dem Volke und sprachen: So spricht der PharaoPharao: Ich werde euch kein StrohStroh geben;10 And the taskmasters of the people and their officers went out and spoke to the people, saying, Thus says Pharaoh: I will not give you straw:
11 gehet ihr selbst hin, holet euch StrohStroh, wo ihr es findet; doch an eurem Dienste wird nichts gemindert werden.11 go ye, get yourselves straw where ye may find it; but none of your work shall be diminished.
12 Und das Volk zerstreute sich im ganzen Lande Ägypten, um StoppelnStoppeln zu sammeln zu StrohStroh.12 And the people were scattered abroad throughout the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
13 Und die Treiber drängten sie und sprachen: VollendetVollendet eure Arbeiten, das Tagewerk an seinem TageTage, wie früher, als StrohStroh da war!13 And the taskmasters urged them , saying, Fulfil your labours, the daily work, as when there was straw.
14 Und die VorsteherVorsteher der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael, welche die Treiber des PharaoPharao über sie gesetzt hatten, wurden geschlagen, indem man sagte: Warum habt ihr euren Satz ZiegelZiegel, sowohl gestern als heute, nicht vollendet wie früher?14 And the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and it was said, Why have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick, both yesterday and to-day, as heretofore?
15 Da gingen die VorsteherVorsteher der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael hinein und schrieen zu dem PharaoPharao und sprachen: Warum tust du deinen Knechten also?15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, Why dost thou deal thus with thy bondmen?
16 StrohStroh wird deinen Knechten nicht gegeben, und man sagt zu uns: Machet ZiegelZiegel! und siehe, deine KnechteKnechte werden geschlagen, und es ist die SchuldSchuld deines Volkes.16 There is no straw given to thy bondmen, and they say to us, Make brick; and behold, thy bondmen are beaten, but it is the fault of thy people.
17 Und er sprach: Ihr seid träge, träge seid ihr! darum sprechet ihr: Wir wollen hinziehen, wir wollen JehovaJehova opfern.17 And he said, Ye are idle, idle! therefore ye say, Let us go and sacrifice to Jehovah.
18 Und nun gehet hin, arbeitet! und StrohStroh wird euch nicht gegeben werden, und das MaßMaß ZiegelZiegel sollt ihr liefern.18 And now go--work! and straw shall not be given you, and ye shall deliver the measure of bricks.
19 Da sahen die VorsteherVorsteher der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael, daß es übel mit ihnen stand, weil man sagte: Ihr sollt nichts mindern an euren Ziegeln: das Tagewerk an seinem TageTage!19 And the officers of the children of Israel saw that it stood ill with them, because it was said, Ye shall not diminish anything from your bricks, the daily work.
20 Und sie begegneten MoseMose und AaronAaron, die ihnen entgegentraten, als sie von dem PharaoPharao herauskamen.20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood there to meet them, as they came out from Pharaoh.
21 Und sie sprachen zu ihnen: JehovaJehova sehe auf euch und richte, daß ihr unseren Geruch stinkend gemacht habt vor dem2 PharaoPharao und vor seinen3 Knechten, so daß ihr ihnen das SchwertSchwert in die Hand gegeben habt, uns zu töten.21 And they said to them, Jehovah look upon you and judge, that ye have made our odour to stink in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his bondmen, putting a sword into their hand to kill us!
22 Da wandte sich MoseMose zu JehovaJehova und sprach: HerrHerr, warum hast du so übel an diesem Volke getan? warum doch hast du mich gesandt?22 And Moses returned to Jehovah, and said, Lord, why hast thou done evil to this people? why now hast thou sent me?
23 denn seitdem ich zu dem PharaoPharao hineingegangen bin, um in deinem NamenNamen zu reden, hat er diesem Volk übel getan, und du hast dein Volk durchaus nicht errettet.23 For ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all!
