1 Und JoramJoram, der SohnSohn AhabsAhabs, wurde König über IsraelIsrael zu SamariaSamaria, im achtzehnten JahreJahre JosaphatsJosaphats, des Königs von JudaJuda; und er regierte zwölf JahreJahre.1 And Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; and he reigned twelve years.
2 Und er tat was böse war in den AugenAugen JehovasJehovas, nur nicht wie sein VaterVater und seine MutterMutter; und er tat die Bildsäule1 des BaalBaal hinweg, die sein VaterVater gemacht hatte.2 And he wrought evil in the sight of Jehovah, but not like his father, and like his mother; and he took away the column of Baal that his father had made.
3 Doch blieb er hangen an den Sünden Jerobeams, des SohnesSohnes NebatsNebats, wodurch er IsraelIsrael sündigen gemacht hatte; er wich nicht davon.3 Only, he clave to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat who made Israel to sin: he did not depart therefrom.
4 Und MesaMesa, der König von MoabMoab, war ein Herdenbesitzer, und er zinste dem König von IsraelIsrael hunderttausend Fettschafe und hunderttausend Widder mit der WolleWolle2.4 And Mesha king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and rendered to the king of Israel a hundred thousand lambs and a hundred thousand rams, with the wool.
5 Und es geschah, als AhabAhab starb, da fiel der König von MoabMoab von dem König von IsraelIsrael ab.5 And it came to pass when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
6 Und der König JoramJoram zog in selbiger ZeitZeit von SamariaSamaria aus und musterte ganz IsraelIsrael.6 And at that time king Jehoram went out of Samaria and inspected all Israel.
7 Und er ging hin und sandte zu JosaphatJosaphat, dem König von JudaJuda, und ließ ihm sagen: Der König von MoabMoab ist von mir abgefallen; willst du mit mir wider MoabMoab in den StreitStreit ziehen? Und er sprach: Ich will hinaufziehen; ich will sein wie du, mein Volk wie dein Volk, meine Rosse wie deine Rosse.7 And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
8 Und er sprach: Auf welchem Wege wollen wir hinaufziehen? Und er sprach: Auf dem Wege der WüsteWüste EdomEdom.8 And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he said, By way of the wilderness of Edom.
9 Und so zogen der König von IsraelIsrael und der König von JudaJuda und der König von EdomEdom hin; und sie machten einen Umweg von sieben Tagereisen, und es war kein Wasser da für das Heer und für das ViehVieh, das ihnen folgte.9 And the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom, and they made a circuit of seven days' journey. And there was no water for the army, and for the cattle that followed them.
10 Da sprach der König von IsraelIsrael: Ach, daß JehovaJehova diese drei KönigeKönige gerufen hat, um sie in die Hand MoabsMoabs zu geben!10 And the king of Israel said, Alas! that Jehovah has called these three kings together, to give them into the hand of Moab!
11 Und JosaphatJosaphat sprach: Ist hier kein ProphetProphet JehovasJehovas, daß wir JehovaJehova durch ihn befragen könnten? Und einer von den Knechten des Königs von IsraelIsrael antwortete und sprach: Hier ist ElisaElisa, der SohnSohn SaphatsSaphats, der Wasser goß auf die Hände des EliaElia.11 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.
12 Und JosaphatJosaphat sprach: Das WortWort JehovasJehovas ist bei ihm. Und der König von IsraelIsrael und JosaphatJosaphat und der König von EdomEdom gingen zu ihm hinab.12 And Jehoshaphat said, The word of Jehovah is with him. And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
13 Und ElisaElisa sprach zu dem König von IsraelIsrael: Was haben wir miteinander zu schaffen? Geh zu den ProphetenPropheten deines VatersVaters und zu den ProphetenPropheten deiner MutterMutter! Und der König von IsraelIsrael sprach zu ihm: Nein, denn JehovaJehova hat diese drei KönigeKönige gerufen, um sie in die Hand MoabsMoabs zu geben.13 And Elisha said to the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? go to the prophets of thy father and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said to him, Not so, for Jehovah has called these three kings to give them into the hand of Moab.
14 Da sprach ElisaElisa: So wahr JehovaJehova der HeerscharenHeerscharen lebt, vor dessen Angesicht ich stehe, wenn ich nicht auf die Person JosaphatsJosaphats, des Königs von JudaJuda, Rücksicht nähme, so würde ich dich nicht anblicken, noch dich ansehen!14 And Elisha said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee nor see thee.
15 Und nun holet mir einen SaitenspielerSaitenspieler. Und es geschah, als der SaitenspielerSaitenspieler spielte, da kam die Hand JehovasJehovas über ihn.15 And now fetch me a minstrel. And it came to pass when the minstrel played, that the hand of Jehovah was upon him.
16 Und er sprach: So spricht JehovaJehova: Machet in diesem TaleTale GrubeGrube an GrubeGrube.16 And he said, Thus saith Jehovah: Make this valley full of ditches.
17 Denn so spricht JehovaJehova: Ihr werdet keinen WindWind sehen und keinen RegenRegen sehen, und doch wird dieses TalTal sich mit Wasser füllen, so daß ihr trinken werdet, ihr und eure Herden und euer ViehVieh.17 For thus saith Jehovah: Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet this valley shall be filled with water, and ye shall drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.
18 Und das ist noch gering in den AugenAugen JehovasJehovas; er wird auch MoabMoab in eure Hand geben.18 And this is a light thing in the sight of Jehovah: he will give the Moabites also into your hand.
19 Und ihr werdet alle festen Städte und alle auserlesenen Städte schlagen, und werdet alle guten Bäume fällen und alle Wasserquellen verstopfen und alle guten Ackerstücke mit Steinen verderben.19 And ye shall smite every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.
20 Und es geschah am MorgenMorgen, zur ZeitZeit da man das SpeisopferSpeisopfer opfert, siehe, da kam Wasser des Weges von EdomEdom her, und das Land füllte sich mit Wasser.20 And it came to pass in the morning, when the oblation was offered up, that behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
21 Und als alle MoabiterMoabiter hörten, daß die KönigeKönige heraufgezogen waren, um wider sie zu streiten, da wurden sie zusammengerufen, von jedem an, der sich rüsten konnte3 und darüber; und sie rückten an die Grenze.21 And all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, and they were called together, all that were able to put on armour, and upward, and stood by the border.
22 Und als sie sich des MorgensMorgens früh aufmachten, und die SonneSonne über dem Wasser aufging, da sahen die MoabiterMoabiter das Wasser gegenüber rot wie BlutBlut.22 And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun rose upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side red as blood.
23 Und sie sprachen: Das ist BlutBlut! Die KönigeKönige haben sich gewißlich aufgerieben und haben einander erschlagen; und nun zur BeuteBeute, MoabMoab!23 And they said, This is blood: the kings are entirely destroyed, and have smitten one another; and now, Moab, to the spoil!
24 Als sie aber zum LagerLager IsraelsIsraels kamen, da machten die Israeliten sich auf und schlugen die MoabiterMoabiter, daß sie vor ihnen flohen. Und sie kamen in das Land MoabMoab und schlugen es4.24 And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, and they fled before them; and they entered in and smote Moab.
25 Und sie rissen die Städte nieder, und auf alle guten Ackerstücke warfen sie ein jeder seinen Stein und füllten sie damit an, und sie verstopften alle Wasserquellen und fällten alle guten Bäume ..., bis sie an Kir-Hareseth nur dessen SteineSteine übrigließen. Und die Schleuderer umzingelten und beschossen die Stadt5.25 And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone and filled it, and they stopped every well of water, and felled every good tree, until they left only the stones at Kirhareseth; and the slingers went about it, and smote it.
26 Und als der König von MoabMoab sah, daß ihm der StreitStreit zu stark war, nahm er siebenhundert MannMann mit sich, die das SchwertSchwert zogen, um gegen den König von EdomEdom hin durchzubrechen; aber sie vermochten es nicht.26 And the king of Moab saw that the battle was too severe for him, and he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not.
27 Da nahm er seinen erstgeborenen SohnSohn, der an seiner Statt König werden sollte, und opferte ihn als BrandopferBrandopfer auf der Mauer. Und es kam ein großer ZornZorn über IsraelIsrael; und sie zogen von ihm ab und kehrten in ihr Land zurück.27 And he took his eldest son, that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him up for a burnt-offering upon the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel; and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
