1 Und nach dem TodeTode AhabsAhabs fielen die MoabiterMoabiter von IsraelIsrael ab. -1 And Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2 Und AhasjaAhasja fiel durch das GitterGitter an seinem ObergemachObergemach zu SamariaSamaria und wurde krank. Und er sandte Boten und sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hin, befraget Baal-SebubBaal-Sebub, den GottGott von EkronEkron, ob ich von dieser KrankheitKrankheit genesen werde.2 And Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber which was in Samaria, and was sick; and he sent messengers and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover from this disease.
3 Und der EngelEngel JehovasJehovas redete zu EliaElia, dem TisbiterTisbiter: Mache dich auf, gehe hinauf, den Boten des Königs von SamariaSamaria entgegen, und sprich zu ihnen: Ist es, weil kein GottGott in IsraelIsrael ist, daß ihr hingehet, um Baal-SebubBaal-Sebub, den GottGott von EkronEkron, zu befragen?3 And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?
4 Und darum spricht JehovaJehova also: Von dem BetteBette, das du bestiegen hast, sollst du nicht herabkommen, sondern du wirst gewißlich sterben. Und EliaElia ging hin.4 Now therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die. And Elijah departed.
5 Und die Boten kehrten zu ihm zurück; und er sprach zu ihnen: Warum seid ihr denn zurückgekehrt?5 And the messengers returned to him; and he said to them, Why have ye returned?
6 Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Ein MannMann kam herauf, uns entgegen, und sprach zu uns: Gehet, kehret zurück zu dem König, der euch gesandt hat, und redet zu ihm: So spricht JehovaJehova: Ist es, weil kein GottGott in IsraelIsrael ist, daß du hinsendest, um Baal-SebubBaal-Sebub, den GottGott von EkronEkron, zu befragen? Darum sollst du von dem BetteBette, das du bestiegen hast, nicht herabkommen, sondern du wirst gewißlich sterben.6 And they said unto him, A man came up to meet us, and said to us, Go, return to the king that sent you and say to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die.
7 Da sagte er zu ihnen: Was für ein MannMann war es1, der euch entgegen heraufkam und diese WorteWorte zu euch redete?7 And he said to them, What manner of man was he that came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8 Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Es war ein MannMann in härenem GewandeGewande und an seinen LendenLenden gegürtet mit einem ledernen GürtelGürtel. Und er sprach: Es ist EliaElia, der TisbiterTisbiter.8 And they said to him, He was a man in a hairy garment , and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9 Da sandte er zu ihm einen Obersten über fünfzig und seine Fünfzig. Und er ging zu ihm hinauf, und siehe, er saß auf dem Gipfel des BergesBerges; und er sprach zu ihm: MannMann GottesGottes! der König sagt: Komm herab.9 And he sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him, and behold, he sat on the top of the mount. And he spoke to him: Man of God, the king says, Come down!
10 Aber EliaElia antwortete und sprach zu dem Obersten über fünfzig: Und wenn ich ein MannMann GottesGottes bin, so fahre FeuerFeuer vom HimmelHimmel herab und fresse dich und deine Fünfzig! Da fuhr FeuerFeuer vom HimmelHimmel herab und fraß ihn und seine Fünfzig.10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, And if I be a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from the heavens, and consumed him and his fifty.
11 Und er sandte wiederum zu ihm einen anderen Obersten über fünfzig und seine Fünfzig. Und er hob an und sprach zu ihm: MannMann GottesGottes! so spricht der König: Komm eilends herab.11 And again he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he spoke and said to him, Man of God, thus says the king: Come down quickly!
12 Aber EliaElia antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ich ein MannMann GottesGottes bin, so fahre FeuerFeuer vom HimmelHimmel herab und fresse dich und deine Fünfzig! Da fuhr FeuerFeuer GottesGottes vom HimmelHimmel herab und fraß ihn und seine Fünfzig.12 And Elijah answered and said to them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from the heavens, and consumed him and his fifty.
13 Und er sandte wiederum einen dritten Obersten über fünfzig2 und seine Fünfzig. Und der dritte Oberste über fünfzig ging hinauf und kam und beugte seine Kniee vor EliaElia, und er flehte ihn an und sprach zu ihm: MannMann GottesGottes! möge doch mein LebenLeben und das LebenLeben deiner KnechteKnechte, dieser Fünfzig, teuer sein in deinen AugenAugen!13 And again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him and said to him, Man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14 Siehe, FeuerFeuer ist vom HimmelHimmel herabgefahren und hat die beiden vorigen Obersten über fünfzig und ihre Fünfzig gefressen; nun aber möge mein LebenLeben teuer sein in deinen AugenAugen!14 Behold, there came down fire from the heavens, and consumed the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; but now, let my life be precious in thy sight.
15 Da sprach der EngelEngel JehovasJehovas zu EliaElia: Gehe mit ihm hinab, fürchte dich nicht vor ihm! Und er stand auf und ging mit ihm zu dem König hinab.15 And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him to the king.
16 Und er redete zu ihm: So spricht JehovaJehova: Weil du Boten gesandt hast, um Baal-SebubBaal-Sebub, den GottGott von EkronEkron, zu befragen, (ist es, weil kein GottGott in IsraelIsrael ist, um sein WortWort zu befragen?) darum sollst du von dem BetteBette, das du bestiegen hast, nicht herabkommen, sondern du wirst gewißlich sterben.16 And he said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die.
17 Und er starb nach dem WorteWorte JehovasJehovas, das EliaElia geredet hatte. Und Joram3 ward König an seiner Statt im zweiten JahreJahre JoramsJorams, des SohnesSohnes JosaphatsJosaphats,4 des Königs von JudaJuda; denn er hatte keinen SohnSohn.17 And he died according to the word of Jehovah that Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram began to reign in his stead, in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; for he had no son.
18 Und das Übrige der Geschichte AhasjasAhasjas, was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem BucheBuche der ChronikaChronika der KönigeKönige von IsraelIsrael?18 And the rest of the acts of Ahaziah, what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
