1 Sieben1 JahreJahre war JoasJoas alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte vierzig JahreJahre zu JerusalemJerusalem; und der Name seiner MutterMutter war ZibjaZibja, von BeersebaBeerseba.1 Joash was seven years old when he began to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
2 Und JoasJoas tat was recht war in den AugenAugen JehovasJehovas, alle die TageTage des PriestersPriesters JojadaJojada.2 And Joash did what was right in the sight of Jehovah all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
3 Und JojadaJojada nahm ihm zwei Weiber; und er zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.3 And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begot sons and daughters.
4 Und es geschah hernach, daß JoasJoas im Herzen hatte, das HausHaus JehovasJehovas zu erneuern.4 And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to renew the house of Jehovah.
5 Und er versammelte die PriesterPriester und die LevitenLeviten und sprach zu ihnen: Ziehet aus in die Städte JudasJudas, und sammelt GeldGeld ein von ganz IsraelIsrael, um das HausHaus eures GottesGottes auszubessern von JahrJahr zu JahrJahr; und ihr sollt mit der Sache eilen. Aber die LevitenLeviten eilten nicht.5 And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out to the cities of Judah and collect of all Israel money for the repair of the house of your God from year to year, and ye shall hasten the matter. But the Levites hastened it not.
6 Da rief der König JojadaJojada, das HauptHaupt, und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du die LevitenLeviten nicht aufgefordert, aus JudaJuda und JerusalemJerusalem die Steuer einzubringen, welche MoseMose, der KnechtKnecht JehovasJehovas, der VersammlungVersammlung IsraelsIsraels für das ZeltZelt des Zeugnisses auferlegt hat2?6 And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the tribute of Moses the servant of Jehovah laid upon the congregation of Israel, for the tent of the testimony?
7 Denn die gottlose AthaljaAthalja und ihre Söhne haben das Haus GottesHaus Gottes zerstört und haben auch alle geheiligten Dinge des Hauses JehovasJehovas für die BaalimBaalim verwendet.7 For the wicked Athaliah and her sons had devastated the house of God; and also all the hallowed things of the house of Jehovah had they employed for the Baals.
8 Und der König befahl, und man machte eine LadeLade und stellte sie an das TorTor des Hauses JehovasJehovas, auswärts.8 And the king commanded, and they made a chest, and set it at the gate of the house of Jehovah without,
9 Und man rief in JudaJuda und in JerusalemJerusalem aus, daß man JehovaJehova die Steuer MosesMoses, des KnechtesKnechtes GottesGottes, bringen sollte, welche er IsraelIsrael in der WüsteWüste auferlegt hatte.9 and they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring to Jehovah the tribute of Moses the servant of God laid upon Israel in the wilderness.
10 Da freuten sich alle Obersten und das ganze Volk; und sie brachten und warfen in die LadeLade, bis man fertig war.10 And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in and cast into the chest, until they had finished.
11 Und es geschah zur ZeitZeit, wenn man die LadeLade durch die LevitenLeviten zum Amte3 des Königs brachte, und wenn man sah, daß viel GeldGeld darin war, so kamen der Schreiber des Königs und der Beamte des Hauptpriesters und leerten die LadeLade aus; und sie trugen sie und brachten sie wieder an ihren Ort. So taten sie TagTag für TagTag und sammelten GeldGeld in Menge.11 And it came to pass at the time the chest was brought for the king's control by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and high priest's officer came, and they emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
12 Und der König und JojadaJojada gaben es denen, welche das Werk der Arbeit am HauseHause JehovasJehovas betrieben; und diese dingten SteinhauerSteinhauer und ZimmerleuteZimmerleute, um das HausHaus JehovasJehovas zu erneuern, und auch Arbeiter in EisenEisen und Erz, um das HausHaus JehovasJehovas auszubessern.12 And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and they hired masons and carpenters to renew the house of Jehovah, and also such as wrought in iron and bronze, to repair the house of Jehovah.
13 Und die das Werk taten arbeiteten, und die Herstellung des WerkesWerkes nahm zu durch ihre Hand; und sie setzten das Haus GottesHaus Gottes wieder in seinen früheren Stand4 und machten es fest.13 So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in its state, and strengthened it.
14 Und als sie fertig waren, brachten sie das übrige GeldGeld vor den König und vor JojadaJojada; und er machte davon Geräte für das HausHaus JehovasJehovas, Geräte für den Dienst und für die BrandopferBrandopfer, und Schalen, und goldene und silberne Geräte. Und man opferte BrandopferBrandopfer im HauseHause JehovasJehovas beständig, alle die TageTage JojadasJojadas.14 And when they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada; and they made of it vessels for the house of Jehovah, utensils to minister, and with which to offer up, and cups, and utensils of gold and silver. And they offered up burnt-offerings in the house of Jehovah continually all the days of Jehoiada.
15 Und JojadaJojada wurde alt und der TageTage satt, und er starb; er war hundertunddreißig JahreJahre alt, als er starb.15 And Jehoiada grew old and was full of days, and he died; he was a hundred and thirty years old when he died.
16 Und man begrub ihn in der Stadt DavidsStadt Davids bei den Königen, weil er Gutes getan hatte an IsraelIsrael und gegen GottGott und sein HausHaus.16 And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and toward his house.
17 Und nach dem TodeTode JojadasJojadas kamen die Obersten von JudaJuda und beugten sich vor dem König nieder; und der König hörte auf sie.17 And after the death of Jehoiada the princes of Judah came and made obeisance to the king; then the king hearkened to them.
18 Und sie verließen das HausHaus JehovasJehovas, des GottesGottes ihrer VäterVäter, und dienten den AscherimAscherim und den Götzenbildern. Da kam ein ZornZorn über JudaJuda und JerusalemJerusalem um dieser ihrer Verschuldung willen.18 And they forsook the house of Jehovah the God of their fathers, and served the Asherahs and idols; and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.
19 Und er sandte ProphetenPropheten unter sie, um sie zu JehovaJehova zurückzuführen, und diese zeugtenzeugten wider sie5; aber sie nahmen es nicht zu Ohren. -19 And he sent prophets among them to bring them again to Jehovah, and they testified against them; but they would not give ear.
20 Und der GeistGeist GottesGottes kam über6 SekarjaSekarja, den SohnSohn JojadasJojadas, des PriestersPriesters; und er stand auf über dem Volke und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht GottGott: Warum übertretet ihr die GeboteGebote JehovasJehovas? Es wird euch ja nicht gelingen. Weil ihr JehovaJehova verlassen habt, so hat er euch verlassen.20 And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood up above the people and said unto them, Thus saith God: Wherefore do ye transgress the commandments of Jehovah? And ye cannot prosper; for ye have forsaken Jehovah, and he hath forsaken you.
21 Und sie machten eine Verschwörung wider ihn und steinigten ihn auf Befehl des Königs im Hofe des Hauses JehovasJehovas.21 And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the command of the king in the court of the house of Jehovah.
22 Und der König JoasJoas gedachte nicht der Güte, die sein VaterVater JojadaJojada an ihm erwiesen hatte, und ermordete dessen SohnSohn. Und als er starb, sprach er: JehovaJehova möge es sehen und fordern!22 And king Joash remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, Jehovah see and require it !
23 Und es geschah beim Umlauf des JahresJahres, daß ein Heer der Syrer wider ihn heraufzog. Und sie kamen nach JudaJuda und JerusalemJerusalem und schlachteten aus dem Volke alle Obersten des Volkes; und alle ihre BeuteBeute sandten sie zu dem König von DamaskusDamaskus.23 And it came to pass at the end of the year that the army of Syria came up against him; and they entered into Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them to the king at Damascus.
24 Wiewohl das Heer der Syrer mit wenigen Männern gekommen war, gab doch JehovaJehova ein sehr zahlreiches Heer in ihre Hand, weil sie JehovaJehova, den GottGott ihrer VäterVäter, verlassen hatten. Und sie übten GerichtGericht an JoasJoas.24 Truly with a small company of men came the army of the Syrians, but Jehovah delivered a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken Jehovah the God of their fathers; and they executed judgment upon Joash.
25 Und als sie von ihm weggezogen waren, - sie verließen ihn aber in großen Schmerzen - machten seine KnechteKnechte eine Verschwörung wider ihn, um des BlutesBlutes der Söhne7 des PriestersPriesters JojadaJojada willen; und sie ermordeten ihn auf seinem BetteBette, und er starb. Und man begrub ihn in der Stadt DavidsStadt Davids, aber man begrub ihn nicht in den Gräbern der KönigeKönige.25 And when they had departed from him (for they left him in great diseases), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died; and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the sepulchres of the kings.
26 Und diese sind es, die eine Verschwörung wider ihn machten: SabadSabad, der SohnSohn SchimeathsSchimeaths, der Ammonitin, und JosabadJosabad, der SohnSohn SchimrithsSchimriths, der Moabitin. -26 And these are they that conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith a Moabitess.
27 Seine Söhne aber, und die Größe des Tributs, der ihm auferlegt wurde, und der Bau des Hauses GottesGottes, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Beschreibung8 des BuchesBuches der KönigeKönige. Und AmazjaAmazja, sein SohnSohn, ward König an seiner Statt.27 And as to his sons, and the greatness of the burdens laid upon him, and the building of the house of God, behold, they are written in the treatise of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
