1 Und die PhilisterPhilister hatten die LadeLade GottesGottes genommen und brachten sie von Eben-EserEben-Eser nach AsdodAsdod.1 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ezer to Ashdod.
2 Und die PhilisterPhilister nahmen die LadeLade GottesGottes und brachten sie in das HausHaus Dagons1 und stellten sie neben DagonDagon.2 And the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
3 Und als die AsdoditerAsdoditer am anderen TageTage früh aufstanden, siehe, da lag DagonDagon auf seinem Angesicht auf der ErdeErde vor der LadeLade JehovasJehovas; und sie nahmen DagonDagon und stellten ihn wieder an seinen Ort.3 And when they of Ashdod arose early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.
4 Und als sie am anderen TageTage des MorgensMorgens früh aufstanden, siehe, da lag DagonDagon auf seinem Angesicht auf der ErdeErde vor der LadeLade JehovasJehovas; und zwar lagen das HauptHaupt DagonsDagons und seine beiden Hände abgehauen auf der Schwelle, nur der Fischrumpf war an ihm übriggeblieben.4 And when they arose early the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the fish-stump was left to him.
5 Darum treten die PriesterPriester DagonsDagons und alle, die in das HausHaus DagonsDagons gehen, nicht auf die Schwelle DagonsDagons in AsdodAsdod bis auf diesen TagTag.5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any that come into Dagon's house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.
6 Und die Hand JehovasJehovas lag schwer auf den AsdoditernAsdoditern, und er verwüstete sie; und er schlug sie mit BeulenBeulen, AsdodAsdod und sein Gebiet.6 And the hand of Jehovah was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he laid them waste, and smote them with hemorrhoids, --Ashdod and its borders.
7 Und als die Leute von AsdodAsdod sahen, daß dem also war, sprachen sie: Die LadeLade des GottesGottes IsraelsIsraels soll nicht bei uns bleiben; denn seine Hand ist hart über uns und über DagonDagon, unserem GottGott.7 And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us; for his hand is severe upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
8 Und sie sandten hin und versammelten alle Fürsten der PhilisterPhilister zu sich und sprachen: Was sollen wir mit der LadeLade des GottesGottes IsraelsIsraels tun? Und sie sprachen: Man schaffe die LadeLade des GottesGottes IsraelsIsraels nach GathGath. Und sie schafften die LadeLade des GottesGottes IsraelsIsraels hin.8 And they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they said, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about to Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither .
9 Und es geschah, nachdem sie sie hingeschafft hatten, da kam die Hand JehovasJehovas über die Stadt, und es entstand eine sehr große Bestürzung; und er schlug die Leute der Stadt, vom Kleinen bis zum Großen, daß BeulenBeulen an ihnen ausbrachen.9 And it came to pass that, after they had carried it about, the hand of Jehovah was against the city with very great panic; and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and hemorrhoids broke out upon them.
10 Da sandten sie die LadeLade GottesGottes nach EkronEkron. Und es geschah, als die LadeLade GottesGottes nach EkronEkron kam, da schrieen die EkroniterEkroniter und sprachen: Sie haben die LadeLade des GottesGottes IsraelsIsraels zu mir hergeschafft, um mich und mein Volk zu töten!10 And they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, when the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people.
11 Und sie sandten hin und versammelten alle Fürsten der PhilisterPhilister und sprachen: Sendet die LadeLade des GottesGottes IsraelsIsraels fort, daß sie an ihren Ort zurückkehre und mich und mein Volk nicht töte. Denn es war eine tödliche Bestürzung in der ganzen Stadt; die Hand GottesGottes war sehr schwer daselbst.11 And they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to its own place, that it kill us not, and our people. For there was deadly alarm throughout the city: the hand of God was very heavy there;
12 Und die Leute, die nicht starben, wurden mit BeulenBeulen geschlagen; und das Geschrei der Stadt stieg zum HimmelHimmel empor.12 and the men that died not were smitten with the hemorrhoids; and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
