1 Und SamuelSamuel nahm die Ölflasche und goß sie aus auf sein HauptHaupt, und er küßte ihn und sprach: Ist es nicht also, daß JehovaJehova dich zum Fürsten über sein ErbteilErbteil gesalbt hat?1 Then Samuel took the vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because Jehovah has anointed thee prince over his inheritance?
2 Wenn du heute von mir weggehst, so wirst du zwei Männer treffen beim GrabeGrabe RahelsRahels, an der Grenze1 von BenjaminBenjamin, zu ZelzachZelzach; und sie werden zu dir sagen: Die Eselinnen sind gefunden, die du zu suchen gegangen bist; und siehe, dein VaterVater hat die Sache der Eselinnen aufgegeben, und er ist um euch bekümmert und spricht: Was soll ich wegen meines SohnesSohnes tun?2 When thou goest from me to-day, thou shalt meet two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say to thee, The asses are found which thou wentest to seek, and behold, thy father has dismissed the matter of the asses, and is anxious about you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
3 Und gehst du von dannen weiter und kommst zur TerebintheTerebinthe TaborTabor, so werden dich daselbst drei Männer treffen, die zu GottGott nach BethelBethel hinaufgehen; einer trägt drei Böcklein, und einer trägt drei Laibe BrotBrot, und einer trägt einen SchlauchSchlauch WeinWein.3 And thou shalt go on forward from thence, and shalt come to the oak of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God, to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three cakes of bread, and another carrying a flask of wine.
4 Und sie werden dich nach deinem Wohlergehen fragen und dir zwei BroteBrote geben, und du sollst sie von ihrer Hand nehmen.4 And they will ask after thy welfare, and give thee two loaves, which thou shalt receive of their hands.
5 Danach wirst du zu dem Hügel GottesGottes2 kommen, wo AufstellungenAufstellungen der PhilisterPhilister sind; und es wird geschehen, sowie du daselbst in die Stadt kommst, wirst du einer Schar ProphetenPropheten begegnen, die von der HöheHöhe herabkommen, und vor ihnen her HarfeHarfe und TamburinTamburin und FlöteFlöte und LauteLaute, und sie werden weissagen3.5 After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where are the outposts of the Philistines; and it shall come to pass, when thou comest thither, into the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with lute and tambour and pipe and harp before them; and they themselves prophesying.
6 Und der GeistGeist GottesGottes wird über dich geraten, und du wirst mit ihnen weissagen und wirst in einen anderen MannMann verwandelt werden.6 And the Spirit of Jehovah will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
7 Und es soll geschehen, wenn dir diese ZeichenZeichen eintreffen, so tue was deine Hand finden wird; denn GottGott ist mit dir.7 And it shall be, when these signs shall come to thee, thou shalt do as thy hand shall find; for God is with thee.
8 Und gehe vor mir nach GilgalGilgal hinab; und siehe, ich werde zu dir hinabkommen, um BrandopferBrandopfer zu opfern, um Friedensopfer4 zu schlachten; sieben TageTage sollst du warten, bis ich zu dir komme, und ich werde dir kundtun was du tun sollst.8 And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come down to thee, to offer up burnt-offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace-offerings: seven days shalt thou wait, until I come to thee and inform thee what thou shalt do.
9 Und es geschah, als er seinen Rücken wandte, um von SamuelSamuel wegzugehen, da verwandelte GottGott sein HerzHerz; und alle diese ZeichenZeichen trafen ein an jenem TageTage.9 And it was so that when he turned his back to go away from Samuel, God gave him another heart; and all those signs came to pass that day.
10 Und als sie dorthin an den Hügel kamen, siehe, da kam ihm eine Schar ProphetenPropheten entgegen; und der GeistGeist GottesGottes geriet über ihn, und er weissagte in ihrer Mitte.10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.
11 Und es geschah, als alle, die ihn von früher her kannten, sahen, und siehe, er weissagte mit den ProphetenPropheten, da sprach das Volk einer zum anderen: Was ist denn dem SohneSohne KisKis' geschehen? Ist auch SaulSaul unter den ProphetenPropheten?11 And it came to pass, when all that knew him before saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
12 Und ein MannMann von dort antwortete und sprach: Und wer ist ihr VaterVater? Daher ist es zum SprichwortSprichwort geworden: Ist auch SaulSaul unter den ProphetenPropheten?12 And a man of that place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?
13 Und als er aufgehört hatte zu weissagen, kam er auf die HöheHöhe.13 And when he had ended prophesying, he came to the high place.
14 Und der Oheim SaulsSauls sprach zu ihm und zu seinem Knaben: Wohin seid ihr gegangen? Und er sprach: Die Eselinnen zu suchen; und als wir sahen, daß sie nirgend waren, gingen wir zu SamuelSamuel.14 And Saul's uncle said to him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses; and when we saw that they were nowhere, we went to Samuel.
15 Und der Oheim SaulsSauls sprach: Teile mir doch mit, was SamuelSamuel zu euch gesagt hat.15 And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said to you.
16 Und SaulSaul sprach zu seinem Oheim: Er tat uns für gewiß kund, daß die Eselinnen gefunden seien. Aber die Sache von dem Königtum, wovon SamuelSamuel geredet hatte, teilte er ihm nicht mit.16 And Saul said to his uncle, He told us for certain that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel had spoken, he told him not.
17 Und SamuelSamuel berief das Volk zu JehovaJehova nach MizpaMizpa.17 And Samuel called the people together to Jehovah to Mizpah.
18 Und er sprach zu den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael: So spricht JehovaJehova, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels: Ich habe IsraelIsrael aus Ägypten heraufgeführt und euch errettet aus der Hand der Ägypter und aus der Hand all der Königreiche, die euch bedrückten;18 And he said to the children of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you;
19 ihr aber habt heute euren GottGott verworfen, der euch aus allen euren Übeln und euren Drangsalen gerettet hat, und habt zu ihm gesagt: Einen König5 sollst du über uns setzen! Nun denn, stellet euch auf vor JehovaJehova nach euren Stämmen und nach euren Tausenden!19 but ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your troubles, and have said unto him, Nay, but a king shalt thou set over us. Now therefore present yourselves before Jehovah by your tribes, and by your thousands.
20 Und SamuelSamuel ließ alle StämmeStämme IsraelsIsraels herzutreten; und es wurde getroffen der Stamm BenjaminBenjamin.20 And Samuel caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, and the tribe of Benjamin was taken.
21 Und er ließ den Stamm BenjaminBenjamin nach seinen GeschlechternGeschlechtern herzutreten; und es wurde getroffen das GeschlechtGeschlecht MatriMatri; und es wurde getroffen SaulSaul, der SohnSohn KisKis'. Und sie suchten ihn, aber er wurde nicht gefunden.21 And he caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, and the family of Matri was taken; and Saul the son of Kish was taken. And they sought him, but he was not to be found.
22 Und sie befragten wiederum JehovaJehova: Wird der MannMann noch hierher kommen?6 Und JehovaJehova sprach: Siehe, er hat sich bei dem Geräte versteckt.22 Therefore they inquired of Jehovah further, Will the man yet come hither? And Jehovah answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the baggage.
23 Da liefen sie hin und holten ihn von dannen; und er stellte sich mitten unter das Volk, und er war höher als alles Volk, von seiner SchulterSchulter an aufwärts.23 And they ran and fetched him thence; and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.
24 Und SamuelSamuel sprach zu dem ganzen Volke: Habt ihr gesehen, den JehovaJehova erwählt hat? Denn7 keiner ist wie er im ganzen Volke. Da jauchzte das ganze Volk, und sie sprachen: Es lebe der König!24 And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom Jehovah has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted and said, May the king live.
25 Und SamuelSamuel sagte dem Volke das Recht des Königtums, und er schrieb es in ein BuchBuch und legte es vor JehovaJehova nieder. Und SamuelSamuel entließ das ganze Volk, einen jeden nach seinem HauseHause.25 And Samuel told the people the right of the kingdom, and wrote it in the book, and laid it before Jehovah. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.
26 Und auch SaulSaul ging nach seinem HauseHause, nach GibeaGibea; und mit ihm zog die Schar, deren HerzHerz GottGott gerührt hatte.26 And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and with him went the band, whose hearts God had touched.
27 Aber etliche Söhne BelialsBelials sprachen: Wie sollte der uns retten? Und sie verachteten ihn und brachten ihm kein Geschenk; aber er war wie taub.27 But the children of Belial said, How should this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no gifts. But he was as one deaf.
