1 Und es war ein MannMann von Ramathajim-ZophimRamathajim-Zophim, vom Gebirge EphraimGebirge Ephraim, und sein Name war ElkanaElkana, der SohnSohn JerochamsJerochams, des SohnesSohnes ElihusElihus, des SohnesSohnes TochusTochus, des SohnesSohnes ZuphsZuphs, ein Ephratiter1.1 And there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite.
2 Und er hatte zwei Weiber: der Name der einen war HannaHanna, und der Name der anderen PeninnaPeninna; und PeninnaPeninna hatte KinderKinder, aber HannaHanna hatte keine KinderKinder.2 And he had two wives: the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah; and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
3 Und dieser MannMann ging von JahrJahr zu JahrJahr aus seiner Stadt hinauf, um JehovaJehova der HeerscharenHeerscharen anzubeten und ihm zu opfern zu SiloSilo; und daselbst waren die beiden Söhne ElisElis, HophniHophni und PinehasPinehas, PriesterPriester JehovasJehovas.3 And this man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to Jehovah of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of Jehovah, were there.
4 Und es geschah an dem TageTage, da ElkanaElkana opferte, da gab er seinem Weibe PeninnaPeninna und allen ihren Söhnen und ihren Töchtern Stücke;4 And it came to pass on the day that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters portions;
5 aber HannaHanna gab er ein doppeltes Stück, denn er liebte HannaHanna; aber JehovaJehova hatte ihren Mutterleib verschlossen.5 but to Hannah he used to give a double portion, for he loved Hannah; but Jehovah had shut up her womb.
6 Und ihre Widersacherin kränkte sie mit vieler Kränkung, um sie aufzubringen, weil JehovaJehova ihren Mutterleib verschlossen hatte.6 And her adversary provoked her much also, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb.
7 Und so wie er das JahrJahr für JahrJahr tat, also kränkte sie sie, so oft sie zum HauseHause JehovasJehovas hinaufzog; und sie weinte und aß nicht.7 And as he did so year by year, as often as she went up to the house of Jehovah, she provoked her thus; and she wept and did not eat.
8 Und ElkanaElkana, ihr MannMann, sprach zu ihr: HannaHanna, warum weinst du? und warum issest du nicht? und warum ist dein HerzHerz betrübt? Bin ich dir nicht besser als zehn Söhne?8 And Elkanah her husband said to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? Am not I better to thee than ten sons?
9 Und HannaHanna stand auf nach dem Essen und nach dem Trinken zu SiloSilo. EliEli, der PriesterPriester, saß aber auf dem Stuhle an einem der Tür-pfosten des TempelsTempels JehovasJehovas.9 And Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk; (now Eli the priest sat upon the seat by the door-post of the temple of Jehovah;)
10 Und sie war bitteren Gemütes, und sie flehte zu JehovaJehova und weinte sehr.10 and she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Jehovah, and wept much.
11 Und sie tat ein GelübdeGelübde und sprach: JehovaJehova der HeerscharenHeerscharen! wenn du das Elend deiner MagdMagd ansehen und meiner gedenken und deine MagdMagd nicht vergessen wirst und wirst deiner MagdMagd männlichen Samen geben, so will ich ihn JehovaJehova geben alle TageTage seines LebensLebens; und kein SchermesserSchermesser soll auf sein HauptHaupt kommen.11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man child, then I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
12 Und es geschah, als sie lange vor JehovaJehova betetebetete, daß EliEli ihren Mund beobachtete.12 And it came to pass as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth.
13 HannaHanna aber redete in ihrem Herzen; nur ihre Lippen bewegten sich, aber ihre Stimme wurde nicht gehört; und EliEli hielt sie für eine Trunkene.13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard; and Eli thought she was drunken.
14 Und EliEli sprach zu ihr: Bis wann willst du dich wie eine Trunkene gebärden? Tue deinen WeinWein von dir!14 And Eli said to her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.
15 Aber HannaHanna antwortete und sprach: Nein, mein HerrHerr! ein Weib beschwerten GeistesGeistes bin ich; weder WeinWein noch starkes Getränk habe ich getrunken, sondern ich schüttete meine SeeleSeele vor JehovaJehova aus.15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before Jehovah.
16 Setze nicht deine MagdMagd einer TochterTochter BelialsBelials gleich; denn aus der Fülle meines Kummers und meiner Kränkung habe ich bisher geredet.16 Take not thy handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my grief and provocation have I spoken hitherto.
17 Und EliEli antwortete und sprach: Gehe hin in Frieden; und der GottGott IsraelsIsraels gewähre deine Bitte, die du von ihm erbeten hast!17 And Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition which thou hast asked of him.
18 Und sie sprach: Möge deine MagdMagd GnadeGnade finden in deinen AugenAugen! Und das Weib ging ihres Weges und aß, und ihr Angesicht war nicht mehr dasselbe.18 And she said, Let thy bondwoman find grace in thy sight. And the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more as before .
19 Und sie machten sich des MorgensMorgens früh auf und beteten an vor JehovaJehova; und sie kehrten zurück und kamen in ihr HausHaus nach RamaRama. Und ElkanaElkana erkannte HannaHanna, sein Weib, und JehovaJehova gedachte ihrer.19 And they rose up early in the morning and worshipped before Jehovah, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Jehovah remembered her.
20 Und es geschah nach Umlauf der ZeitZeit, da ward HannaHanna schwanger und gebar einen SohnSohn; und sie gab ihm den NamenNamen Samuel2: denn von JehovaJehova habe ich ihn erbeten.20 And it came to pass when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of Jehovah.
21 Und der MannMann ElkanaElkana ging hinauf mit seinem ganzen HauseHause, um JehovaJehova das jährliche SchlachtopferSchlachtopfer zu opfern und sein GelübdeGelübde zu erfüllen.21 And Elkanah her husband, and all his house, went up to sacrifice to Jehovah the yearly sacrifice and his vow.
22 Aber HannaHanna ging nicht hinauf; denn sie sprach zu ihrem ManneManne: Bis der Knabe entwöhnt ist, dann will ich ihn bringen, daß er vor JehovaJehova erscheine und dort bleibe auf immer.22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, I will wait until the child is weaned; then will I bring him, that he may appear before Jehovah, and there abide for ever.
23 Und ElkanaElkana, ihr MannMann, sprach zu ihr: Tue was gut ist in deinen AugenAugen; bleibe, bis du ihn entwöhnt hast; nur möge JehovaJehova sein WortWort aufrecht halten! So blieb das Weib und säugte ihren SohnSohn, bis sie ihn entwöhnt hatte.23 And Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what is good in thy sight: abide until thou hast weaned him; only, may Jehovah fulfil his word. And the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
24 Und sobald sie ihn entwöhnt hatte, brachte sie ihn mit sich hinauf nebst drei Farren und einem EphaEpha MehlMehl und einem SchlauchSchlauch WeinWein, und brachte ihn in das HausHaus JehovasJehovas nach SiloSilo; und der Knabe war noch jung.24 And she took him up with her when she had weaned him, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a flask of wine, and brought him to the house of Jehovah to Shiloh; and the boy was young.
25 Und sie schlachteten den Farren und brachten den Knaben zu EliEli.25 And they slaughtered the bullock, and brought the boy to Eli.
26 Und sie sprach: Bitte, mein HerrHerr! So wahr deine SeeleSeele lebt, mein HerrHerr, ich bin das Weib, das hier bei dir stand, um zu JehovaJehova zu flehen.26 And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here to pray to Jehovah.
27 Um diesen Knaben habe ich gefleht, und JehovaJehova hat mir meine Bitte gewährt, die ich von ihm erbeten habe.27 For this boy I prayed; and Jehovah has granted me my petition which I asked of him.
28 So habe auch ich ihn JehovaJehova geliehen; alle die TageTage, die er lebt3, ist er JehovaJehova geliehen. Und er betete4 daselbst JehovaJehova an.28 And also I have lent him to Jehovah: all the days that he lives, he is lent to Jehovah. And he worshipped Jehovah there.
