1 Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, da versündigten sich der Schenke des Königs von Ägypten und der BäckerBäcker gegen ihren HerrnHerrn, den König von Ägypten.1 And it came to pass after these things, that the cup-bearer of the king of Egypt and the baker offended their lord the king of Egypt.
2 Und der PharaoPharao ward sehr zornig über seine beiden KämmererKämmerer, über den Obersten der Schenken und über den Obersten der BäckerBäcker;2 And Pharaoh was wroth with his two chamberlains--with the chief of the cup-bearers and with the chief of the bakers;
3 und er setzte sie in Gewahrsam in das HausHaus des Obersten der LeibwacheLeibwache, in die FesteFeste, an den Ort, wo JosephJoseph gefangen lag.3 and he put them in custody into the house of the captain of the life-guard, into the tower-house, into the place where Joseph was imprisoned.
4 Und der Oberste der LeibwacheLeibwache bestellte JosephJoseph zu ihnen, und er bediente sie; und sie waren eine Zeitlang in Gewahrsam.4 And the captain of the life-guard appointed Joseph to them, that he should attend on them. And they were several days in custody.
5 Und sie hatten beide einen TraumTraum, ein jeder seinen TraumTraum in einer NachtNacht, ein jeder nach der Deutung seines TraumesTraumes, der Schenke und der BäckerBäcker des Königs von Ägypten, die in der FesteFeste gefangen lagen.5 And they dreamed a dream, both of them in one night, each his dream, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup-bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were imprisoned in the tower-house.
6 Und JosephJoseph kam am MorgenMorgen zu ihnen und sah sie, und siehe, sie waren mißmutig.6 And Joseph came in to them in the morning, and looked on them, and behold, they were sad.
7 Und er fragte die KämmererKämmerer des PharaoPharao, die mit ihm im HauseHause seines HerrnHerrn in Gewahrsam waren, und sprach: Warum sind eure Angesichter heute so trübe?7 And he asked Pharaoh's chamberlains that were with him in custody in his lord's house, saying, Why are your faces so sad to-day?
8 Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Wir haben einen TraumTraum gehabt, und da ist niemand, der ihn deute. Und JosephJoseph sprach zu ihnen: Sind die Deutungen nicht GottesGottes? Erzählet mir doch.8 And they said to him, We have dreamt a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said to them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me your dreams , I pray you.
9 Da erzählte der Oberste der Schenken dem JosephJoseph seinen TraumTraum und sprach zu ihm: In meinem TraumeTraume, siehe, da war ein Weinstock vor mir,9 Then the chief of the cup-bearers told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;
10 und an dem Weinstock drei Reben; und sowie er knospte, schoß seine Blüte auf, seine Traubenkämme reiften zu TraubenTrauben.10 and in the vine were three branches; and it was as though it budded: its blossoms shot forth, its clusters ripened into grapes.
11 Und der BecherBecher des PharaoPharao war in meiner Hand, und ich nahm die TraubenTrauben und preßte sie aus in den BecherBecher des PharaoPharao und gab den BecherBecher in des PharaoPharao Hand.11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
12 Und JosephJoseph sprach zu ihm: Dies ist seine Deutung: Die drei Reben sind drei TageTage.12 And Joseph said to him, This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days.
13 In noch drei Tagen wird der PharaoPharao dein HauptHaupt erheben und dich wieder in deine Stelle einsetzen, und du wirst den BecherBecher des PharaoPharao in seine Hand geben, nach der früheren WeiseWeise, da du sein Schenke warst.13 In yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee to thy place, and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his cup-bearer.
14 Aber gedenke meiner bei dir, wenn es dir wohlgeht, und erweise doch Güte an mir und erwähne meiner bei dem PharaoPharao und bringe mich aus diesem HauseHause heraus;14 Only bear a remembrance with thee of me when it goes well with thee, and deal kindly, I pray thee, with me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house;
15 denn gestohlen bin ich aus dem Lande der HebräerHebräer, und auch hier habe ich gar nichts getan, daß sie mich in den Kerker1 gesetzt haben.15 for indeed I was stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
16 Und der Oberste der BäckerBäcker sah, daß er gut gedeutet hatte, und er sprach zu JosephJoseph: Auch ich sah in meinem TraumeTraume, und siehe, drei Körbe mit Weißbrot2 waren auf meinem KopfeKopfe,16 And when the chief of the bakers saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.
17 und im obersten KorbeKorbe allerlei Eßwaren des PharaoPharao, BackwerkBackwerk; und das Gevögel fraß sie aus dem KorbeKorbe auf meinem KopfeKopfe weg.17 And in the uppermost basket there were all manner of victuals for Pharaoh that the baker makes, and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.
18 Und JosephJoseph antwortete und sprach: Dies ist seine Deutung: Die drei Körbe sind drei TageTage.18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation of it: the three baskets are three days.
19 In noch drei Tagen wird der PharaoPharao dein HauptHaupt erheben3 und dich an ein HolzHolz hängen, und das Gevögel wird dein FleischFleisch von dir wegfressen.19 In yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hang thee on a tree; and the birds will eat thy flesh from off thee.
20 Und es geschah am dritten TageTage, dem GeburtstageGeburtstage des PharaoPharao, da machte er allen seinen Knechten ein Mahl; und er erhob das HauptHaupt des Obersten der Schenken und das HauptHaupt des Obersten der BäckerBäcker unter seinen Knechten.20 And it came to pass the third day--Pharaoh's birthday--that he made a feast to all his bondmen. And he lifted up the head of the chief of the cup-bearers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his bondmen.
21 Und er setzte den Obersten der Schenken wieder in sein Schenkamt, daß er den BecherBecher in des PharaoPharao Hand gab;21 And he restored the chief of the cup-bearers to his office of cup-bearer again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
22 und den Obersten der BäckerBäcker ließ er hängen, so wie JosephJoseph ihnen gedeutet hatte.22 And he hanged the chief of the bakers, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Aber der Oberste der Schenken gedachte nicht an JosephJoseph und vergaß ihn.23 But the chief of the cup-bearers did not remember Joseph, and forgot him.
