1 Und GottGott sprach zu JakobJakob: Mache dich auf, ziehe hinauf nach BethelBethel und wohne daselbst, und mache daselbst einen AltarAltar dem GottGott1, der dir erschienen ist, als du vor deinem BruderBruder EsauEsau flohest.1 And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar unto the *God that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
2 Da sprach JakobJakob zu seinem HauseHause und zu allen, die bei ihm waren: Tut die fremden GötterGötter hinweg, die in eurer Mitte sind, und reiniget euch, und wechselt eure KleiderKleider;2 And Jacob said to his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;
3 und wir wollen uns aufmachen und nach BethelBethel hinaufziehen, und ich werde daselbst einen AltarAltar machen dem Gott2, der mir geantwortet hat am TageTage meiner DrangsalDrangsal und mit mir gewesen ist auf dem Wege, den ich gewandelt bin.3 and we will arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar to the *God that answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way that I went.
4 Und sie gaben JakobJakob alle fremden GötterGötter, die in ihrer Hand, und die Ringe, die in ihren Ohren waren3, und JakobJakob vergrub sie unter der TerebintheTerebinthe, die bei SichemSichem ist.4 And they gave to Jacob all the strange gods that were in their hand, and the rings that were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the terebinth that is by Shechem.
5 Und sie brachen auf. Und der Schrecken GottesGottes kam über die Städte, die rings um sie her waren, so daß sie den Söhnen JakobsJakobs nicht nachjagten.5 And they journeyed; and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
6 Und JakobJakob kam nach LusLus, welches im Lande KanaanKanaan liegt, das ist BethelBethel, er und alles Volk, das bei ihm war.6 And Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.
7 Und er baute daselbst einen AltarAltar und nannte den Ort El-Bethel4; denn GottGott hatte sich ihm daselbst geoffenbart, als er vor seinem BruderBruder floh.7 And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el; because there God had appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother.
8 Und DeboraDebora, die AmmeAmme RebekkasRebekkas, starb, und sie wurde begraben unterhalb BethelBethel unter der EicheEiche; und man gab ihr den NamenNamen AllonAllon Bakuth5.8 And Deborah, Rebecca's nurse, died; and she was buried beneath Bethel, under the oak; and the name of it was called Allon-bachuth.
9 Und GottGott erschien dem JakobJakob wiederum, als er aus Paddan-AramPaddan-Aram kam, und segnete ihn.9 And God appeared to Jacob again after he had come from Padan-Aram, and blessed him.
10 Und GottGott sprach zu ihm: Dein Name ist JakobJakob; dein Name soll hinfort nicht JakobJakob heißen, sondern IsraelIsrael soll dein Name sein. Und er gab ihm den NamenNamen IsraelIsrael.10 And God said to him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not henceforth be called Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name. And he called his name Israel.
11 Und GottGott sprach zu ihm: Ich bin GottGott6, der AllmächtigeAllmächtige, sei fruchtbar und mehre dich; eine Nation und ein Haufe von NationenNationen soll aus dir werden, und KönigeKönige sollen aus deinen LendenLenden hervorkommen.11 And God said to him, I am the Almighty *God: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee; and kings shall come out of thy loins.
12 Und das Land, das ich AbrahamAbraham und IsaakIsaak gegeben habe, dir will ich es geben, und deinem Samen nach dir will ich das Land geben.12 And the land that I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
13 Und GottGott fuhr von ihm auf an dem Orte, wo er mit ihm geredet hatte.13 And God went up from him in the place where he had talked with him.
14 Und JakobJakob richtete ein DenkmalDenkmal auf an dem Orte, wo er mit ihm geredet hatte, ein DenkmalDenkmal von Stein, und spendete darauf ein TrankopferTrankopfer und goß Öl darauf.14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he had talked with him, a pillar of stone, and poured on it a drink-offering, and poured oil on it.
15 Und JakobJakob gab dem Orte, woselbst GottGott mit ihm geredet hatte, den NamenNamen BethelBethel.15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God had talked with him, Beth-el.
16 Und sie brachen auf von BethelBethel. Und es war noch eine Strecke Landes, um nach EphrathEphrath zu kommen, da gebar RahelRahel, und es wurde ihr schwer bei ihrem Gebären.16 And they journeyed from Bethel. And there was yet a certain distance to come to Ephrath, when Rachel travailed in childbirth; and it went hard with her in her childbearing.
17 Und es geschah, als es ihr schwer wurde bei ihrem Gebären, da sprach die Hebamme zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht, denn auch dieser ist dir ein SohnSohn!17 And it came to pass when it went hard with her in her childbearing, that the midwife said to her, Fear not; for this also is a son for thee.
18 Und es geschah, als ihre SeeleSeele ausging (denn sie starb), da gab sie ihm den NamenNamen Benoni7; sein VaterVater aber nannte ihn Benjamin8.18 And it came to pass as her soul was departing--for she died--that she called his name Benoni; but his father called him Benjamin.
19 Und RahelRahel starb und wurde begraben an dem Wege nach EphrathEphrath, das ist BethlehemBethlehem.19 And Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
20 Und JakobJakob richtete über ihrem GrabeGrabe ein DenkmalDenkmal auf, das ist das Grabmal RahelsRahels bis auf diesen TagTag.20 And Jacob erected a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day.
21 Und IsraelIsrael brach auf und schlug sein ZeltZelt auf jenseit von Migdal-Heder9.21 And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent on the other side of Migdal-Eder.
22 Und es geschah, als IsraelIsrael in jenem Lande wohnte, da ging RubenRuben hin und lag bei BilhaBilha, dem Kebsweibe seines VatersVaters. Und IsraelIsrael hörte es.Und der Söhne JakobsJakobs waren zwölf.22 And it came to pass when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father's concubine; and Israel heard of it. And the sons of Jacob were twelve.
23 Die Söhne LeasLeas: RubenRuben, der Erstgeborene JakobsJakobs, und SimeonSimeon und LeviLevi und JudaJuda und IssascharIssaschar und SebulonSebulon.23 The sons of Leah: Reuben--Jacob's firstborn--and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
24 Die Söhne RahelsRahels: JosephJoseph und BenjaminBenjamin.24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
25 Die Söhne BilhasBilhas, der MagdMagd RahelsRahels: DanDan und NaphtaliNaphtali.25 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant: Dan and Naphtali.
26 Und die Söhne SilpasSilpas, der MagdMagd LeasLeas: GadGad und AserAser. Das sind die Söhne JakobsJakobs, welche ihm in Paddan-AramPaddan-Aram geboren wurden.26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's maidservant: Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob that were born to him in Padan-Aram.
27 Und JakobJakob kam zu seinem VaterVater IsaakIsaak nach MamreMamre, nach Kirjath-ArbaKirjath-Arba, das ist HebronHebron, woselbst AbrahamAbraham und IsaakIsaak als FremdlingeFremdlinge geweilt hatten.27 And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mamre--to Kirjath-Arba, which is Hebron; where Abraham had sojourned, and Isaac.
28 Und die TageTage IsaaksIsaaks waren hundert und achtzig JahreJahre.28 And the days of Isaac were a hundred and eighty years.
29 Und IsaakIsaak verschied und starb, und wurde versammelt zu seinen Völkern, alt und der TageTage satt. Und EsauEsau und JakobJakob, seine Söhne, begruben ihn.29 And Isaac expired and died, and was gathered to his peoples, old and full of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
