1 Und IsaakIsaak rief JakobJakob und segnete ihn; und er gebot ihm und sprach zu ihm: Du sollst nicht ein Weib nehmen von den Töchtern KanaansKanaans.1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
2 Mache dich auf, gehe nach Paddan-Aram1, zum HauseHause BethuelsBethuels, des VatersVaters deiner MutterMutter; und nimm dir von dort ein Weib von den Töchtern LabansLabans, des BrudersBruders deiner MutterMutter.2 Arise, go to Padan-Aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father, and take a wife thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.
3 Und Gott2, der AllmächtigeAllmächtige, segne dich, und mache dich fruchtbar und mehre dich, daß du zu einer Schar von Völkern werdest;3 And the Almighty *God bless thee, and make thee fruitful and multiply thee, that thou mayest become a company of peoples.
4 und er gebe dir den Segen AbrahamsAbrahams, dir und deinem Samen mit dir, auf daß du besitzest das Land deiner Fremdlingschaft, das GottGott dem AbrahamAbraham gegeben hat!4 And may he give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee and to thy seed with thee, in order that thou mayest possess the land of thy sojourning, which God gave to Abraham!
5 Und IsaakIsaak entließ JakobJakob; und er ging nach Paddan-AramPaddan-Aram zu LabanLaban, dem SohneSohne BethuelsBethuels, des Aramäers, dem BruderBruder RebekkasRebekkas, der MutterMutter JakobsJakobs und EsausEsaus. -5 And Isaac sent away Jacob; and he went to Padan-Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebecca, Jacob's and Esau's mother.
6 Und als EsauEsau sah, daß IsaakIsaak den JakobJakob gesegnet und ihn nach Paddan-AramPaddan-Aram entlassen hatte, um sich von dort ein Weib zu nehmen, indem er ihn segnete und ihm gebot und sprach: Du sollst nicht ein Weib nehmen von den Töchtern KanaansKanaans,6 And Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-Aram, to take a wife thence, blessing him, and giving him a charge saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
7 und daß JakobJakob seinem VaterVater und seiner MutterMutter gehorcht hatte und nach Paddan-AramPaddan-Aram gegangen war:7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padan-Aram.
8 als EsauEsau sah, daß die Töchter KanaansKanaans übel waren in den AugenAugen seines VatersVaters IsaakIsaak,8 And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan were evil in the sight of Isaac his father.
9 da ging EsauEsau hin zu IsmaelIsmael und nahm sich zum Weibe MachalathMachalath, die TochterTochter IsmaelsIsmaels, des SohnesSohnes AbrahamsAbrahams, die Schwester NebajothsNebajoths, zu seinen anderen Weibern hinzu.9 And Esau went to Ishmael, and took, besides the wives that he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife.
10 Und JakobJakob zog aus von BeersebaBeerseba und ging nach HaranHaran.10 And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went towards Haran.
11 Und er gelangte an einen Ort und übernachtete daselbst; denn die SonneSonne war untergegangen. Und er nahm einen von den Steinen des Ortes und legte ihn zu seinen Häupten und legte sich nieder an selbigem Orte.11 And he lighted on a certain place, and lodged there, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of the place, and made it his pillow, and lay down in that place.
12 Und er träumte: und siehe, eine Leiter war auf die ErdeErde gestellt, und ihre Spitze rührte an den HimmelHimmel; und siehe, Engel GottesEngel Gottes stiegen auf und nieder an ihr.12 And he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to the heavens. And behold, angels of God ascended and descended upon it.
13 Und siehe, JehovaJehova stand über ihr und sprach: Ich bin JehovaJehova, der GottGott AbrahamsAbrahams, deines VatersVaters, und der GottGott IsaaksIsaaks; das Land, auf welchem du liegst, dir will ich es geben und deinem Samen.13 And behold, Jehovah stood above it. And he said, I am Jehovah, the God of Abraham, thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.
14 Und dein Same soll werden wie der StaubStaub der ErdeErde, und du wirst dich ausbreiten nach WestenWesten und nach OstenOsten und nach NordenNorden und nach SüdenSüden hin; und in dir und in deinem Samen sollen gesegnet werden alle GeschlechterGeschlechter der ErdeErde.14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 Und siehe, ich bin mit dir, und ich will dich behüten überall, wohin du gehst, und dich zurückbringen in dieses Land; denn ich werde dich nicht verlassen, bis ich getan was ich zu dir geredet habe.15 And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places to which thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee until I have done what I have spoken to thee of.
16 Und JakobJakob erwachte von seinem Schlafe und sprach: Fürwahr, JehovaJehova ist an diesem Orte, und ich wußte es nicht!16 And Jacob awoke from his sleep, and said, Surely Jehovah is in this place, and I knew it not.
17 Und er fürchtete sich und sprach: Wie furchtbar ist dieser Ort! dies ist nichts anderes als GottesGottes HausHaus, und dies die PfortePforte des HimmelsHimmels.17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18 Und JakobJakob stand des MorgensMorgens früh auf und nahm den Stein, den er zu seinen Häupten gelegt hatte, und stellte ihn auf als DenkmalDenkmal und goß Öl auf seine Spitze.18 And Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had made his pillow, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.
19 Und er gab selbigem Orte den NamenNamen Bethel3; aber im AnfangAnfang war LusLus der Name der Stadt.19 And he called the name of that place Beth-el; but the name of that city was Luz at the first.
20 Und JakobJakob tat ein GelübdeGelübde und sprach: Wenn GottGott mit mir ist und mich behütet auf diesem Wege, den ich gehe, und mir BrotBrot zu essen gibt und KleiderKleider anzuziehen,20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and keep me on this road that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and a garment to put on,
21 und ich in Frieden zurückkehre zum HauseHause meines VatersVaters, so soll JehovaJehova mein GottGott4 sein.21 and I come again to my father's house in peace--then shall Jehovah be my God.
22 Und dieser Stein, den ich als DenkmalDenkmal aufgestellt habe, soll ein Haus GottesHaus Gottes sein; und von allem, was du mir geben wirst, werde ich dir gewißlich den Zehnten geben.22 And this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house; and of all that thou wilt give me I will without fail give the tenth to thee.
