1 Und JehovaJehova erschien ihm bei den Terebinthen MamresMamres; und er saß an dem Eingang des ZeltesZeltes bei der Hitze des TagesTages.1 And Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day.
2 Und er hob seine AugenAugen auf und sah: und siehe, drei Männer standen vor ihm; und als er sie sah, lief er ihnen entgegen von dem Eingang des ZeltesZeltes und beugte sich nieder zur ErdeErde;2 And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him. And when he saw them , he ran to meet them from the tent-door, and bowed himself to the earth,
3 und er sprach: HerrHerr, wenn ich anders GnadeGnade gefunden habe in deinen AugenAugen, so gehe doch nicht an deinem KnechteKnechte vorüber!3 and said, Lord, if now I have found favour in thine eyes, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant.
4 Es werde doch ein wenig Wasser geholt, und waschet eure Füße; und lagert euch1 unter dem Baume,4 Let now a little water be fetched, that ye may wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.
5 und ich will einen Bissen BrotBrot holen, und stärket euer HerzHerz; danach möget ihr weitergehen; da ihr nun einmal2 vorbeigekommen seid bei eurem KnechteKnechte. Und sie sprachen: Tue also, wie du geredet hast.5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread; and refresh yourselves; after that ye shall pass on; for therefore have ye passed on towards your servant. And they said, So do as thou hast said.
6 Da eilte AbrahamAbraham ins ZeltZelt zu SaraSara und sprach: Nimm schnell drei MaßMaß Feinmehl, knete und mache Kuchen3!6 And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said, Knead quickly three seahs of wheaten flour, and make cakes.
7 Und AbrahamAbraham lief zu den RindernRindern und nahm ein KalbKalb, zart und gut, und gab es dem Knaben; und der beeilte sich, es zuzubereiten.7 And Abraham ran to the herd, and took a calf tender and good, and gave it to the attendant; and he hasted to dress it.
8 Und er holte dicke und süße MilchMilch und das KalbKalb, das er zubereitet hatte, und setzte es ihnen vor; und er stand vor ihnen unter dem Baume, und sie aßen.8 And he took thick and sweet milk, and the calf that he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood before them under the tree, and they ate.
9 Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Wo ist SaraSara, dein Weib? Und er sprach: Siehe, im ZelteZelte.9 And they said to him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
10 Und er sprach: Gewißlich werde ich übers JahrJahr wieder zu dir kommen, und siehe, SaraSara, dein Weib, wird einen SohnSohn haben. Und SaraSara horchte am Eingang des ZeltesZeltes, der hinter ihm war.10 And he said, I will certainly return to thee at this time of the year, and behold, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah was listening at the tent-door, which was behind him.
11 Und AbrahamAbraham und SaraSara waren alt, wohlbetagt; es hatte aufgehört, SaraSara zu ergehen nach der Weiber WeiseWeise.11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and advanced in age: it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12 Und SaraSara lachte in ihrem Innern und sprach: Nachdem ich alt geworden4 bin, sollte ich Wollust haben? und mein HerrHerr ist ja alt!12 And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am become old, shall I have pleasure, and my lord old?
13 Und JehovaJehova sprach zu AbrahamAbraham: Warum hat SaraSara denn gelacht und gesagt: Sollte ich auch wirklich gebären, da ich doch alt bin?13 And Jehovah said to Abraham, Why is this, that Sarah laughs, saying, Shall I indeed bear, when I am become old?
14 Ist für JehovaJehova eine Sache zu wunderbar? Zur bestimmten ZeitZeit übers JahrJahr werde ich wieder zu dir kommen, und SaraSara wird einen SohnSohn haben.14 Is any matter too wonderful for Jehovah? At the time appointed I will return to thee, at this time of the year, and Sarah shall have a son.
15 Und SaraSara leugnete und sprach: Ich habe nicht gelacht! denn sie fürchtete sich. Er aber sprach: Nein, sondern du hast gelacht.15 And Sarah denied, saying, I did not laugh; for she was afraid. And he said, No; but thou didst laugh.
16 Und die Männer erhoben sich von dannen und blickten hin nach SodomSodom; und AbrahamAbraham ging mit ihnen, sie zu geleiten.16 And the men rose up thence, and looked toward Sodom; and Abraham went with them to conduct them.
17 Und JehovaJehova sprach: Sollte ich vor AbrahamAbraham verbergen, was ich tun will?17 And Jehovah said, Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing?
18 Wird doch AbrahamAbraham gewißlich zu einer großen und mächtigen Nation werden, und sollen doch in ihm gesegnet werden alle NationenNationen der ErdeErde!18 Since Abraham shall indeed become a great and mighty nation; and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.
19 Denn ich habe ihn erkannt, auf daß er seinen KindernKindern und seinem HauseHause nach ihm befehle5, daß sie den Weg JehovasJehovas bewahren, GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit und Recht zu üben6, damit JehovaJehova auf AbrahamAbraham kommen lasse, was er über ihn geredet hat.19 For I know him that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice, in order that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham what he hath spoken of him.
20 Und JehovaJehova sprach: Weil das Geschrei von SodomSodom und GomorraGomorra groß, und weil ihre SündeSünde sehr schwer ist,20 And Jehovah said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grievous,
21 so will ich doch hinabgehen und sehen, ob sie nach ihrem Geschrei, das vor mich gekommen ist, völlig getan haben; und wenn nicht, so will ich's wissen.21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come to me; and if not, I will know it .
22 Und die Männer wandten sich von dannen und gingen nach SodomSodom; AbrahamAbraham aber blieb noch vor JehovaJehova stehen.22 And the men turned thence, and went towards Sodom; and Abraham remained yet standing before Jehovah.
23 Und AbrahamAbraham trat hinzu und sprach: Willst du denn den Gerechten mit dem Gesetzlosen wegraffen?23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also cause the righteous to perish with the wicked?
24 Vielleicht sind fünfzig Gerechte innerhalb der Stadt; willst du sie denn wegraffen und dem Orte nicht vergebenvergeben um der fünfzig Gerechten willen, die darin sind?24 There are perhaps fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not forgive the place for the sake of the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 Fern sei es von dir, so etwas zu tun, den Gerechten mit dem Gesetzlosen zu töten, so daß der Gerechte sei wie der GesetzloseGesetzlose; fern sei es von dir! Sollte der RichterRichter der ganzen ErdeErde nicht Recht üben?25 Far be it from thee to do so, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that the righteous should be as the wicked--far be it from thee! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?
26 Und JehovaJehova sprach: Wenn ich in SodomSodom, innerhalb der Stadt, fünfzig Gerechte finde, so will ich um ihretwillen dem ganzen Orte vergebenvergeben.26 And Jehovah said, If I find at Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will forgive all the place for their sakes.
27 Und AbrahamAbraham antwortete und sprach: Siehe doch, ich habe mich unterwunden zu dem HerrnHerrn zu reden, und ich bin StaubStaub und AscheAsche.27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have ventured to speak unto the Lord; I, who am dust and ashes.
28 Vielleicht mögen an den fünfzig Gerechten fünf fehlen; willst du wegen der fünf die ganze Stadt verderben? Und er sprach: Ich will sie nicht verderben, wenn ich fünfundvierzig daselbst finde.28 Perhaps there may want five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city on account of the five? And he said, If I shall find forty-five there, I will not destroy it .
29 Und er fuhr fort, weiter zu ihm zu reden, und sprach: Vielleicht mögen vierzig daselbst gefunden werden. Und er sprach: Ich will es nicht tun um der vierzig willen.29 And he continued yet to speak with him, and said, Perhaps there may be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty's sake.
30 Und er sprach: Möge doch der HerrHerr nicht zürnen, und ich will reden. Vielleicht mögen dreißig daselbst gefunden werden. Und er sprach: Ich will es nicht tun, wenn ich dreißig daselbst finde.30 And he said, Oh, let not the Lord be angry that I speak! Perhaps there may be thirty found there. And he said, I will not do it if I find thirty there.
31 Und er sprach: Siehe doch, ich habe mich unterwunden, zu dem HerrnHerrn zu reden; vielleicht mögen zwanzig daselbst gefunden werden. Und er sprach: Ich will nicht verderben um der zwanzig willen.31 And he said, Behold now, I have ventured to speak with the Lord. Perhaps there may be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the twenty's sake.
32 Und er sprach: Möge doch der HerrHerr nicht zürnen, und ich will nur noch diesmal reden. Vielleicht mögen zehn daselbst gefunden werden. Und er sprach: Ich will nicht verderben um der zehn willen.32 And he said, Oh, let not the Lord be angry, that I speak yet but this time! Perhaps there may be ten found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake.
33 Und JehovaJehova ging weg, als er mit AbrahamAbraham ausgeredet hatte; und AbrahamAbraham kehrte zurück an seinen Ort.33 And Jehovah went away when he had ended speaking to Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.
