1 Und AbramAbram zog herauf aus Ägypten, er und sein Weib und alles was er hatte, und LotLot mit ihm, nach dem Süden1.1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, towards the south.
2 Und AbramAbram war sehr reich an ViehVieh, an SilberSilber und an GoldGold.2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
3 Und er ging auf seinen Zügen vom SüdenSüden bis BethelBethel, bis zu dem Orte, wo im AnfangAnfang sein ZeltZelt gewesen war, zwischen BethelBethel und AiAi,3 And he went on his journeys from the south as far as Bethel; as far as the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai;
4 zu der Stätte des AltarsAltars, den er zuvor daselbst gemacht hatte. Und AbramAbram rief daselbst den NamenNamen JehovasJehovas an.4 to the place of the altar that he had made there at the first. And there Abram called on the name of Jehovah.
5 Und auch LotLot, der mit AbramAbram zog, hatte Kleinvieh und RinderRinder und ZelteZelte.5 And Lot also who went with Abram had flocks, and herds, and tents.
6 Und das Land ertrug es nicht, daß sie beisammen wohnten; denn ihre Habe war groß, und sie konnten nicht beisammen wohnen.6 And the land could not support them, that they might dwell together, for their property was great; and they could not dwell together.
7 Und es gab ZankZank zwischen den Hirten von AbramsAbrams ViehVieh und den Hirten von LotsLots ViehVieh. Und die KanaaniterKanaaniter und die PerisiterPerisiter wohnten damals im Lande.7 And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite were dwelling then in the land.
8 Da sprach AbramAbram zu LotLot: Laß doch kein Gezänk sein zwischen mir und dir und zwischen meinen Hirten und deinen Hirten; denn wir sind BrüderBrüder!8 And Abram said to Lot, I pray thee let there be no contention between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen, for we are brethren.
9 Ist nicht das ganze Land vor dir? Trenne dich doch von mir! Willst du2 zur Linken, so will ich mich zur Rechten wenden, und willst du3 zur Rechten, so will ich mich zur Linken wenden.9 Is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if to the left, then I will take the right; and if to the right, then I will take the left.
10 Und LotLot hob seine AugenAugen auf und sah die ganze Ebene4 des JordanJordan, daß sie ganz bewässert war, (bevor JehovaJehova SodomSodom und GomorraGomorra zerstört hatte,) gleich dem GartenGarten JehovasJehovas, wie das Land Ägypten, bis nach ZoarZoar hin.10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the Jordan that it was thoroughly watered, before Jehovah had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah; as the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt, as one goes to Zoar.
11 Und LotLot erwählte sich die ganze EbeneEbene des JordanJordan, und LotLot zog ostwärts; und sie trennten sich voneinander.11 And Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Jordan; and Lot went toward the east. And they separated the one from the other:
12 AbramAbram wohnte im Lande KanaanKanaan, und LotLot wohnte in den Städten der EbeneEbene und schlug ZelteZelte auf bis nach SodomSodom.12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan; and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain, and pitched tents as far as Sodom.
13 Und die Leute von SodomSodom waren böse und große Sünder vor JehovaJehova.13 And the people of Sodom were wicked, and great sinners before Jehovah.
14 Und JehovaJehova sprach zu AbramAbram, nachdem LotLot sich von ihm getrennt hatte: Hebe doch deine AugenAugen auf und schaue von dem Orte, wo du bist, gegen NordenNorden und gegen SüdenSüden und gegen OstenOsten und gegen WestenWesten!14 And Jehovah said to Abram, after that Lot had separated himself from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward;
15 Denn das ganze Land, das du siehst, dir will ich es geben und deinem Samen auf ewig.15 for all the land that thou seest will I give to thee, and to thy seed for ever.
16 Und ich will deinen Samen machen wie den StaubStaub der ErdeErde, so daß, wenn jemand den StaubStaub der ErdeErde zu zählen vermag, auch dein Same gezählt werden wird.16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, so that if any one can number the dust of the earth, thy seed also will be numbered.
17 Mache dich auf und durchwandle das Land nach seiner Länge und nach seiner Breite; denn dir will ich es geben.17 Arise, walk through the land according to the length of it and according to the breadth of it; for I will give it to thee.
18 Und AbramAbram schlug ZelteZelte auf, und kam und wohnte unter den Terebinthen MamresMamres, die bei HebronHebron sind; und er baute daselbst JehovaJehova einen AltarAltar.18 Then Abram moved his tents, and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron. And he built there an altar to Jehovah.
