1 Und siehe, ein MannMann GottesGottes kam aus JudaJuda, durch das WortWort JehovasJehovas, nach BethelBethel, und Jerobeam stand bei dem AltarAltar, um zu räuchern.1 And behold, there came a man of God from Judah, by the word of Jehovah, to Bethel; and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
2 Und er rief aus wider den AltarAltar durch das WortWort JehovasJehovas und sprach: AltarAltar, AltarAltar! so spricht JehovaJehova: Siehe, ein SohnSohn wird dem HauseHause DavidsDavids geboren werden, JosiaJosia sein Name; und er wird auf dir die PriesterPriester der Höhen schlachten, die auf dir räuchern, und man wird Menschengebeine auf dir verbrennen!2 And he cried against the altar by the word of Jehovah, and said, O altar, altar! thus saith Jehovah: Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he sacrifice the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burned upon thee.
3 Und er gab an selbigem TageTage ein ZeichenZeichen und sprach: Dies ist das ZeichenZeichen, von dem JehovaJehova geredet hat: Siehe, der AltarAltar wird reißen und die Fettasche, die darauf ist, verschüttet werden.3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign that Jehovah hath spoken: Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
4 Und es geschah, als der König das WortWort des MannesMannes GottesGottes hörte, das er wider den AltarAltar zu BethelBethel ausgerufen hatte, da streckte Jerobeam seine Hand aus von dem AltarAltar herab und sprach: Greifet ihn! Da verdorrte seine Hand, die er wider ihn ausgestreckt hatte, und er konnte sie nicht wieder an sich ziehen.4 And it came to pass when the king heard the word of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, that Jeroboam stretched forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand which he stretched out against him dried up, so that he could not bring it back again to him.
5 Und der AltarAltar riß, und die Fettasche wurde vom AltarAltar verschüttet, nach dem ZeichenZeichen, welches der MannMann GottesGottes durch das WortWort JehovasJehovas gegeben hatte.5 And the altar was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of Jehovah.
6 Da antwortete der König und sprach zu dem ManneManne GottesGottes: Flehe doch JehovaJehova, deinen GottGott, an und bete für mich, daß meine Hand mir wiedergegeben werde1. Und der MannMann GottesGottes flehte JehovaJehova an, und die Hand des Königs wurde ihm wiedergegeben und war wie zuvor.6 And the king answered and said to the man of God, Intreat now Jehovah thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me again. And the man of God intreated Jehovah, and the king's hand was restored to him again, and became as before.
7 Und der König redete zu dem ManneManne GottesGottes: Komm mit mir ins HausHaus und stärke dich, und ich will dir ein Geschenk geben.7 And the king said to the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a present.
8 Aber der MannMann GottesGottes sprach zu dem König: Wenn du mir die Hälfte deines Hauses gäbest, so würde ich nicht mit dir hineingehen; und ich werde kein BrotBrot essen und kein Wasser trinken an diesem Orte.8 And the man of God said to the king, If thou wilt give me half thy house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place;
9 Denn also ist mir geboten worden durch das WortWort JehovasJehovas und gesagt: Du sollst kein BrotBrot essen und kein Wasser trinken, und du sollst nicht auf dem Wege zurückkehren, den du gegangen bist.9 for so was it charged me by the word of Jehovah, saying, Thou shalt eat no bread, nor drink water, nor return by the way that thou shalt go.
10 Und er ging auf einem anderen Wege und kehrte nicht auf dem Wege zurück, auf welchem er nach BethelBethel gekommen war.10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he had come to Bethel.
11 Ein alter ProphetProphet aber wohnte zu BethelBethel; und einer seiner Söhne2 kam und erzählte ihm alles was der MannMann GottesGottes an dem TageTage zu BethelBethel getan hatte; die WorteWorte, die er zum König geredet hatte, die erzählten sie auch ihrem VaterVater.11 Now there dwelt a certain old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel; the words that he had spoken to the king, them they told also to their father.
12 Und ihr VaterVater sprach zu ihnen: Welchen Weg ist er gegangen? Und seine Söhne hatten den Weg gesehen3, den der MannMann GottesGottes gegangen, der aus JudaJuda gekommen war.12 And their father said to them, Which way went he? for his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.
13 Da sprach er zu seinen Söhnen: Sattelt mir den EselEsel! Und sie sattelten ihm den EselEsel, und er ritt darauf.13 And he said to his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass; and he rode thereon,
14 Und er ritt dem ManneManne GottesGottes nach und fand ihn unter einer4 TerebintheTerebinthe sitzen; und er sprach zu ihm: Bist du der MannMann GottesGottes, der von JudaJuda gekommen ist? Und er sprach: Ich bin's.14 and went after the man of God, and found him sitting under a terebinth; and he said to him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.
15 Da sprach er zu ihm: Komm mit mir nach HauseHause und iß BrotBrot.15 And he said to him, Come home with me, and eat bread.
16 Er aber sprach: Ich kann nicht mit dir umkehren und mit dir hineingehen, und ich werde kein BrotBrot essen und kein Wasser mit dir trinken an diesem Orte.16 And he said, I cannot return with thee, nor go in with thee; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place.
17 Denn ein WortWort ist zu mir geschehen durch das WortWort JehovasJehovas: Du sollst kein BrotBrot essen und kein Wasser daselbst trinken; du sollst nicht auf dem Wege zurückkehren, auf welchem du gegangen bist.17 For it was said to me by the word of Jehovah, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou wentest.
18 Und er sprach zu ihm: Auch ich bin ein ProphetProphet, wie du; und ein EngelEngel hat zu mir geredet durch das WortWort JehovasJehovas und gesagt: Bringe ihn mit dir in dein HausHaus zurück, daß er BrotBrot esse und Wasser trinke. Er belog ihn.18 And he said to him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spoke to me by the word of Jehovah saying, Bring him back with thee into thy house, that he may eat bread and drink water. He lied unto him.
19 Da kehrte er mit ihm zurück, und aß BrotBrot in seinem HauseHause und trank Wasser.19 Then he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.
20 Und es geschah, während sie zu Tische saßen, da geschah das WortWort JehovasJehovas zu dem ProphetenPropheten, der ihn zurückgebracht hatte.20 And it came to pass as they sat at the table, that the word of Jehovah came to the prophet that brought him back;
21 Und er rief dem ManneManne GottesGottes zu, der aus JudaJuda gekommen war, und sprach: So spricht JehovaJehova: Darum daß du gegen den Befehl JehovasJehovas widerspenstig gewesen bist und nicht beobachtet hast das Gebot, das JehovaJehova, dein GottGott, dir geboten hat,21 and he cried to the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the word of Jehovah, and hast not kept the commandment that Jehovah thy God commanded thee,
22 und bist umgekehrt und hast BrotBrot gegessen und Wasser getrunken an dem Orte, von welchem er zu dir geredet hat: Iß kein BrotBrot und trinke kein Wasser! so soll dein Leichnam nicht in das GrabGrab deiner VäterVäter kommen.22 but camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to thee, Eat no bread and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come to the sepulchre of thy fathers.
23 Und es geschah, nachdem er BrotBrot gegessen und nachdem er getrunken hatte, da sattelte er ihm, dem ProphetenPropheten, den er zurückgebracht hatte, den EselEsel.23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled the ass for him, for the prophet that he had brought back;
24 Und er zog fort; und es fand ihn ein LöweLöwe auf dem Wege und tötete ihn. Und sein Leichnam lag hingestreckt auf dem Wege, und der EselEsel stand daneben, und der LöweLöwe stand neben dem Leichnam.24 and he departed. And a lion met him by the way and slew him; and his corpse was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it; the lion also stood by the corpse.
25 Und siehe, da gingen Leute vorüber und sahen den Leichnam hingestreckt auf dem Wege, und den Löwen neben dem Leichnam stehen; und sie kamen und sagten es in der Stadt, in welcher der alte ProphetProphet wohnte.25 And behold, men passed by, and saw the corpse cast in the way and the lion standing by the corpse; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
26 Als nun der ProphetProphet, der ihn von dem Wege zurückgeführt hatte, es hörte, sprach er: Das ist der MannMann GottesGottes, der gegen den Befehl JehovasJehovas widerspenstig gewesen ist; und so hat JehovaJehova ihn dem Löwen preisgegeben: der hat ihn zerrissen und getötet, nach dem WorteWorte JehovasJehovas, das er zu ihm geredet hat.26 And the prophet that brought him back from the way heard of it and said, It is the man of God who was disobedient to the word of Jehovah; therefore Jehovah has delivered him to the lion, which has torn him and slain him, according to the word of Jehovah which he spoke to him.
27 Und er redete zu seinen Söhnen und sprach: Sattelt mir den EselEsel! Und sie sattelten ihn.27 And he spoke to his sons saying, Saddle me the ass; and they saddled it.
28 Und er ritt hin und fand seinen Leichnam hingestreckt auf dem Wege, und den EselEsel und den Löwen neben dem Leichnam stehen; der LöweLöwe hatte den Leichnam nicht gefressen und den EselEsel nicht zerrissen.28 And he went and found his corpse cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the corpse: the lion had not eaten the corpse, nor torn the ass.
29 Und der ProphetProphet hob den Leichnam des MannesMannes GottesGottes auf und legte ihn auf den EselEsel und brachte ihn zurück. Und er kam in die Stadt des alten ProphetenPropheten, um ihn zu beklagen und zu begraben.29 And the prophet took up the corpse of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back; and the old prophet came into the city, to mourn and to bury him.
30 Und er legte seinen Leichnam in sein eigenes GrabGrab; und man klagte über ihn: Ach, mein BruderBruder!30 And he laid his corpse in his own sepulchre; and they mourned over him saying , Alas, my brother!
31 Und es geschah, nachdem er ihn begraben hatte, da sprach er zu seinen Söhnen und sagte: Wenn ich gestorben bin, so begrabet mich in dem GrabeGrabe, in welchem der MannMann GottesGottes begraben ist; leget meine Gebeine neben seine Gebeine.31 And it came to pass after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons saying, When I am dead, bury me in the sepulchre in which the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones.
32 Denn das WortWort wird gewißlich geschehen, welches er durch das WortWort JehovasJehovas ausgerufen hat wider den AltarAltar, der zu BethelBethel ist, und wider alle Höhenhäuser, die in den Städten SamariasSamarias sind.32 For the word that he cried by the word of Jehovah against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places that are in the cities of Samaria, shall certainly come to pass.
33 Nach dieser Begebenheit kehrte Jerobeam nicht um von seinem bösen Wege; und er machte wiederum aus sämtlichem Volke PriesterPriester der Höhen: wer Lust hatte, den weihteweihte er, daß er ein PriesterPriester der Höhen würde.33 After this thing Jeroboam turned not from his evil way, but made again from all classes of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
34 Und diese Sache wurde dem HauseHause Jerobeams zur SündeSünde, und zur Vertilgung und zur Vernichtung vom Erdboden hinweg.34 And by this thing there was sin on the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.
